  1. So my two year old (80 days) Sawyer PoleCat oars are starting to split from the handle down, so I'm looking for some new sticks. I've had Carlise EX HDs and now sawyers. so Im thinking of Cataract SGGs http://www.cataractoars.com/sgg.html with some Premier diamond blades http://www.premieroars.com/sites/premieroa...ct/IMG_4146.JPG as the next set. Anyone use diamond blades and SSGs? What do you use, and why? Jay
  2. sorry for the confusion, this thread is about carsland... my bad
  3. Harvey Passage is now open for boat traffic, the safety boom is now gone so users can float through the passage. There is a new safety boom across the intake on river left of the class 3 rapids. If some dude is going to ride the rapids after his 6th beer in his nautica 2 that he bought from walmart for 19.97 a boom isn't going to stop him. As said there are signs, actually a bunch of them on both sides of the river and flashing LED signs starting 3k upstream of the weir. There is almost always a CPS and CFD presence pretty much any time i've been down there. What more can be done, you can't fix drunk and stupid.
  4. who you going to call http://www.ghostbusters.com/
  5. Yesterday my father and I were fishing a creek that contains bulls, we got a bunch in all different sizes (so in therory they are from different years) and the vast majority had their adipose fins clipped. I wasn't aware of hatchery stocked bulls in this area, does SRD clip adipose fins when doing bull surveys?
  6. Saturday there was a rescue at Harvey Passage as well.... Walmart boats, beer, class 3 rapids, no experience wins you a ride in the fire boat right to cops waiting on shore. Went I went through there were 4 cops each with seperate groups writing tickes.
  7. Mike, I was one of the guides in the corporate event on thursday, there were 18 boats but I will speak for myself. I apologize if my actions ruined that strip of water for you and/your day. I was in the later half of the parade, when i rowed by two of your party were fishing the side channel and I must assume you were the one fishing the mainstem? I honestly thought you guys were with the group, but quickly realized that you weren't when I asked how your day was going and I could clearly see your disgust of 10+ boats sliding over your spot. I personally think I gave you a wide berth, if I didn't once again I'm sorry. Jay
  8. my first drifter and several big name others ive rowed have them with about 1"-2" apart. my new drifter is set at shoulder width.... you can always pull them in. I think mainly what ever is most comfortable for your rowing
  9. they have a 16' ish zodiak with a 30HP jet. They like to play hard with their hands on their guns when they are checking for pfds on the section above the wier
  10. When I was a bike courier in our fine city, we would commonly use the U-lock instead of your hand and hit the window not the body of the car. Jay
  11. If you can have a fire but you can't use deadwood, you have to pack in your lumber to follow the law.
  12. I'm listening? i'd very seriously look into this I looked at some housing prices around roblin when I was there this year..... can I just get time share on the shed?
  13. it's two tanks welded together, but each tank is big
  14. Mike are you looking for one that still holds air?, I assume so. I have a double 7.5 gallon(15gallon) pig that you can have I can swing it by tonight if need be.
  15. Perhaps if you want to replicate Manitoba's success here you should follow thier system, developing a society like FLIPPR would be the first step. http://www.flippr.ca/about_flippr/aboutflippr.htm
  16. Dave good info there, are the MJs glass or poly-carbonate (sp?)?
  17. Great vid and excellent editing.
  18. Both of those pics are the same fish, the spots on the gill plate are the same..... But one is 24 and one is 27.5....... Hmm

    Gopro Fun

    Bravo, Sir bravo. That's sweet.
  20. I have most of the reels on your list, the best one in the bunch for longevity and quality would be the 4200. Jbear what specifically dont you like about the Rises
  21. Well, First off Pops I'm not your son, my dad isn't a retard. Second you should start contacting every drift boat manufacturer and explain to them that your backwards thinking has led you to believe that they are all doing it wrong, not just us Bow R. "experts" and how your time on the water, albeit not our western waters gives you the experience that defies what their nautical engineers tell them is correct. Heck you could maybe find yourself in a new job old timer. Third, dig yourself out of the rock you have been living under and find a copy of Drift boats and River Dories, you can read for yourself that stern mounted anchors have been in use in western river boats for over a hundred years. For future perhaps comment on what you know, I don't comment on how to loose your fishing job and collect EI for the next 10 years.... I'll leave that to you dumb Maritimers
  22. Well we re talking drifters which dont have bow mounted anchors, maybe you know better than the guys that make these things for a living and i'll take tungsten's advice which comes from 20 years experience at running boats on the bow.
  23. True that, I lost one last year, where the steel loop pulled out of the lead, and then I lost one when a knot just came undone. Luckily I had copperjonny with me and he likes to swim, so he got that one back and then I found another 30lb lead one, one day drifting.
  24. Thats what i was worried about, the 30lb pyramid stops me fine but i wouldn't mind a lighter one. Mind you the way my 30 wore down it might be a nice 25 pounder at the end of this season.
