  1. Bummer Mike, I sure enjoyed fishing with you, but you know the rules no dogs in the boat
  2. I typiclly stand on my seat waving my rod, cursing the god of thunder, Thor
  3. Peter, Contact Jeremy, he is headed out that way this weekend and will take it back for you
  4. No offense, but that statement is ridiculous. Have you even been there? A bobcat rebuilt the road and made a new launch, The only way this launch would be unsafe is if you drove in blindfolded.
  5. Smitty, with water levels pretty much dropping daily in southern ab you could have missed the hatch last night, notice how close a lot of the husks are from the edge of the water.
  6. Good point, parking is going to quickly become an issue.
  7. Police is fine, there is a usable launch there now.... i used it Friday night
  8. That was awesome, I really have to look into this kayak thingy soon Thanks Pete
  9. Bcube, you are correct gates are locked at some launches, typically ones I never use.
  10. How do they plan to enforce this? There is no CPS presences on the river anymore and the fire department doesn't have the power to write tickets and the state of emergency was ended last thursday. I'll be drifting pretty darn soon. This might be one of the dumbest things they have come up with, The Bow river is closed but you can drive 40 minutes out of the city and walk any river or stream..... ya safety
  11. Mark I just dropped some pics of police. here http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=19777&page=4&do=findComment&comment=173058
  12. Here is what you see when you pull into Police man's flat as of this afternoon. These are the posts that ringed the parking lot, these are as you enter the turn around near the launch more posts looking south Turn around, the launch should be to the right of this picture\ This is my best guess as to where the launch was Looking upstream at the boulder wall that lined the parking lot looking downstream at the boulder wall Edge of the parking lot, inline with Tungsten's feet are the curbs looking at the parking lot near the garbage can

    Bravo, sir Bravo
  14. On top of everything else I read the sky may fall today as well.
  15. I got my first opportunity to look at the Harvey Passage this morning, wow don't worry about having to go over the weir anymore, you can just take a channel around.... I hope to get some pictures as the day goes on.
  16. dude, I've seen so many kayakers heading to the water.
  17. Mike, I fish the city section a lot PM me and we'll get out.
  18. I think if the fish were decimated everytime we had a massive flood there would be no fish..... I am only guessing but I think they can handle this stuff and have for 1,000,000 years prior
  19. Looking for two to drift on Saturday. It would be cool if you can row, i think the river might have some colour to her so probably streamers on heavy sink tips... i've heard she is a little quicker with the showers we've had.. bring a rain coat we might not be wet wading.
  20. I was wondering about policemens as well..... oh well a little less didy for a while
  21. I don't have one, but my father does and he uses it all the time. I am on his message list and it is reassuring... I have been thinking of purchasing one for my wife as well. Besides the financial commitment I can see a down side. Jay
  22. Smitty, First of all great post. As a boat owner I can share in your concerns and I would think most boat owners would agree in your assessments. You hit the nail on the head when you stated there is no perfect boat, that being said one thing really stuck out to me. Rivers. I would take a drifter, nothing except a two man inflatable is going to be as comfortable to fish out, or maneuver. Get a high pedestal front seat and they are easy to cast from while seated. On lakes the only draw back is the lack of speed. The way I view it a drifter can be very comfy on a lake, can be double anchored, three guys can fish, some can have a 9.9 long leg mounted to them. Tough choice.
  23. Yes you can save yourself some cash with just loop to loop connected sink tips, but it is nothing like using a line that was designed to cast streamers, when you add a sink tip it will hinge or feel chunky as the floating line's taper isn't designed to have a huge sink tip attached. Relk19, cast at a 45° angle downstream, let the fly dangle a few minutes, the strip or strip it back along shore, both methods will work...
