  1. Fly rods are like women, some like short and stout and some like long and soft.Date a few before you buy. My guess is your shopping for an X mas present? do they fish ? have they flyfished before?
  2. if you notice the son has a bobber on his line just as the grandad casts,so with this info it really isnt fly fishing..
  3. free labor is always welcome and will be rewarded with fishing time! when working with epoxy its a waiting type game, you work for 25 minutes applying it then wait 24 hours for it to cure.drink some beer, repeat...
  4. still have the whole interior to do ,seats, dry boxes, anchor and of course a beer cooler and holders, rod storage and holders. I'll add it up once I'm done, people ask me about hours spent,i always say who cares, its what i like to do in my spare time.
  5. it floats!! being so light and small its very easy to row.draft is about 4" in these pics
  6. a jig to help hold the scarfs straight as they cure. some clamps and some SS screws cured goo. sanded and epoxy ready for a float
  7. so back at again,i have the outer seams filled chines rounded and taped. bottom glass wrapped and vacuum applied. peelply pulled, broke out the jig to scarph my gunnels to the right length. some epoxy to seal, one outer gunnel fitted glued and clamped i'll get the others clamped on and should be ready for a test float.
  8. ah yes i see them now, will there be prizes at year end?
  9. i'm always in the red anyways, i still don't see what your talking about.
  10. where's the red arrow again?
  11. i gotta go smoke after that!
  12. Bhurt broke it.
  13. im clicking the image icon, little green one.it says image properties,i paste the url but it doesnt give me an option to enter it.this is how i did it before.it works if i click the choose files, but not the way i did it before.
  14. Ok had time to look and play, not much different.i tried posting a photo and no luck?i copied the url but couldn't figure out how to enter it. one of the other sites i follow has this same set up/look, posting pics on that site is not easy.
  15. what was wrong with the old one? i hate change.
  16. if all your doing is holding it on shore then anything with enough weight works, for the river and if you want to hold in the eddies you need somthin short so it doesn't hang so low.a regular pyrmid will work fine.a dingle bell won't hold well and just roll and slip.
  17. have a look online,i got mine when fishin hole had there spring sale, you'll also want the controller/wire so you can run it from the rowers seat.i ditched the yellow line that came with it and replaced the 1/4 with 5/16, i can get about 80' on the arbour.it comes with an anchor davit to hold the minnkotta anchor which isnt really a river anchor.i modified mine a little and added cam cleats to a home made pully that sits on the outside.the cam cleats take the weight off the motor when driving upstream. a little pricey but worth it imo.
  18. the deckhand 40 has alot of power,it will pull 1300-1500 lbs up river no prob.it also lets line out/in at about a foot every 2 sec.it also shuts off when the pull is too great so it stops when the anchor is up all the way. i've played around with the atv winch, just too slow and loud.
  19. The problem with winches is there so slow and way to much power.if someone keeps the power on to long it will rip the anchor through the boat. minnkota sells one in 25lb and 40lb, i have the 40 lifting a 47lb anchor with no problems.
  20. Or you could go without waders with rain in the forecast.i understand its called "copperjonny style"
  21. never done it myself,if you start early and stay in the main flow could be done.but if you want higher #'s of fish i would shorten it so you could stop more.
  22. lol! as far as leader goes a well drifted drag free presentation is more important then leader size.
  23. onto fillets and tape, this time round i'm doing it a little different.first the fillet, this time i used different fillers.last time i used wood flour,i did some tests and found it to be weak and it also sagged as it cured.this time i mixed it with a mixture of cellulose fiber and fumed silica powder.this makes a nice non sagging fillet. after a cure of about 2 hours i pre cut my tape to length set it on some plastic and wet it out with epoxy.once it was full i then was able to peel it off and lay it down onto the fillet.with my wet gloves i was able to work out the air bubbles.then a piece of peel ply layed over and rolled out. this technique has saved many hours of sanding.the peelply leaves a nice textured surface ready for paint. I also re cut the shear line to be a little flatter. flipped ,next up, bottom glass.
  24. we got you back when we floated down beside you and hooked a fish 3' from our boat.all good dude ,lifes too short to get excited over little things.
  25. Oh ok last i was there it was high and launching was easy. somewhere on here is an old thread about this same thing.there may have been info there on who to contact.
