  1. Always fun to see different waters. Wisconsin has some excellent brown trout fishing, especially in the fall when the lake fish migrate through I've heard.
  2. Looks like a young athabasca rainbow. I'm gonna go with rainbow trout.
  3. Nice shots. I saw some on my way to Alaska in 2006, but not in a large herd like that. I got some pictures that I'll dig up once I get back home.
  4. Amen. I second that. I got pretty thick skin though (I've been seen wet wading the bow in Nov... lol)
  5. I like side pressure when they get close, but on the initial hookset / run / jumps, I give 'em pressure and a high rod tip. I don't think it matters too much what you do with it as long as you maintain steady hard pressure... otherwise you'll be talking about a lot more lost fish than this one that just plain owned ya. It happens. Watch a new zealand video, there fighting fish MUCH larger (well, for the most part anyways) than we are.... and they got those rods... WAAAAAAY up.
  6. Hullswood is no secret dave. While your there, you just may get lucky and hook ladies underwear and bra in a matter of fifteen casts like someone I know not to mention any names... ehhem...
  7. Can I get your wife to make contact with my wife please and .... train her?
  8. Happy Bday hope ya got out fishing.
  9. We got worked over bad..... Nice tie terry
  10. Just host it at the Highwood confluence, and have a jet boat to take people from river left to river right.... *ducks, runs, and hides*
  11. The crow is never a bust (in my humble opinion) even if the fishing sucks the big one. It's just such a nice place to be most times... even if the fish ain't hitting I can always look at every peice of water on it and bring up a good memory on it.
  12. I got a big backyard in cardston + a driveway someone could park a camper on + a fire pit in the backyard .... if the campgrounds full I could always host a couple tenters and one or two tent trailers (or one 5th wheel sized unit)
  13. I'll make sure that I'll be fishing the bow somewhere that weekend, so that I ensure you guys... of having crap weather. That in effect... will keep the dog walkers at home. You can thank me in advance.
  14. There's an old hobo "lean-to" in the deep brush on that island in fish creek park by the C.I.L hole. Let's take it over
  15. If I am at home, I will certainly make the outing on saturday for as much as I can. Lake is best from a boat, but doable from shore. I'll be shorebound if I come.
  16. Oh, and ... the Bow is covered with ice, it won't be open again until AFTER easter weekend. All of you should go ice fishing on sundance lake.... honsetly!!
  17. Even though I haven't made the "first" annual trip Heard some ghreat stuff about that place. Have some Edmonton friends that keep trying to drag me up.
  18. I was under the impression that the generation station was going to close down there a few years ago. is this not the case? if so, I should keep on planning my annual trips I guess.
  19. wow, that's a brutal day. we have ALL been there at one point or another. Usually for me it's anytime I try to do a home improvement project
  20. Ha awesome he looks like he just LOST a 27 incher man!!!
  21. Callibaetis nymphs all the way. (small red pheasant tail'ish looking nymph)
  22. and that's why countless people start threads like "frustrated with the bow" right??? I've guided hundreds of LOCAL people on the Bow Brent, most were good nymphers and couldn't figure out the Bow. If this guys only got a short time and wants to maximize his enjoyment, hire a guide for a day and shorten the learning curve. If he wants a challenge, he can head down there and see what "frustrated with the bow" is like, and battle through it on his own.

Wow. I never would have guessed that fisherman of that skill could go get blanked, when fish were actually around. Makes me feel a bit better about my BC adventure last fall to smithers with only one to hand. Thats a beauty river guys! You'll get 'em next time!
  24. If you know how to nymph the BOW you'll be fine. If you don't give Max a call. Nymphs (9ft leader, indicator set at end of fly line giving you 9ft leader to first fly, one foot to second fly, add a third if you want, make sure it's gently tapping bottom in the run your fishing and not getting hung all the time. If your getting hung move indicator up to 7ft and try there, move as neccessary. If your not tapping bottom add split shot till you are, and THEN adjust the indicator... use an indicator that's going to float a bunch of weight, ie, yarn ones are trash...) #4-10 sjw #18-20 midge #18-20 bloodworm #8-16 caddis larvae #16-20 pheasant tail #12-18 hare's ear
  25. Yeah... same. I'd say 90% of a big bull trout's diet is suckers / whites. The only time I think they can get a trout is when it's injured, big bulls are just too slow to catch a darting little rainbow or cutt.
