We've actually had BIG kitty cats (cougars) pass through our backyard too! Seen the tracks and tail marks + fur to prove it, though have never seen one here yet... More of those would keep the coyotes down, but then... there big predators too! Probably more dangerous than a pack of coyotes when they get really hungry! I've seen coyotes in the feilds here that would easily top 100lbs. have to do a double take to be sure there not wolves sometimes.

I honestly though that tonight the flames played one of their most solid games of the year. they were hitting, dominating the boards, keeping the play in their own zone mostly to to the outside. Colorado had 3 chances all night... but they all found the back of the net... not really kippers fault on any of them either. calgary had no puck luck this game... but I thought they played VERY well... best played game of the season. Outshot the avs 32-14 or something like that.. outchances them 15 to 3 probably... Too bad it was a loss... puck just wouldn't come onto a calgary players stick near the net.... The stripes called a good game tonight even... nothing to say really. Chalk that up to bad luck. Next game!

speaking of coyotes.... I had one in my backyard just 5 minutes ago... trying to get at one of the stray cats under my porch. He met a large rock head on (if ya know what I mean)... hopefully he wont be back.

No offense max, but the vast majority of people on this board are probably older than 25, and would "rock" a T with a simple logo they could understand. cheers.

SJW..... YUCK!!!! That would be incredibly hard to read from even 5 ft away from someone's shirt. You'd lose the reason for having a logo.

If you'd have read back far enough in this post you'd see where I originally posted this idea... and said "we would need an artist to make a proper image, becuase this one's just copied from the net" cheers.

I get around this by tying the flies "in-line" rather than on the tag ends. (leader into eye of fly, next section to the next fly gets tied onto the shank of first fly, then second fly tied on by the eye, then second section of line down to the split shots gets tied onto the shank of the second fly.) No tangles, no problems... but you gotta keep line section "2" (the one between bottom fly and weight) short... about 6 inches max... I use even less. You want that fly to be within 3 inches of the bottom. I dont use an indicator when I nymph this way either. BUT in saying that... this was a post about how to avoid weeds.... which... a heavy rig like this skipping along the bottom wont do, unless you can find channels in the weed beds with a rocky bottom (which is what I do) and you'll certainly find fish there as they are feeding lanes.

Great game flames - it just sucks that you have to beat the REFS and the opponents every night. Keep it up.

I dont think any of us would argue that the flames sucked vs columbus that 2-1 loss. And yes, they did get some breaks. I wonder which flames team will show up tonight? jeykl, or Hyde?

You obviously havent followed the flames for years. You dont think the reffing stole the 2006 cup from edmonton? They certainly screwed calgary out of one in '04....Bias against canada? hell yeah. and amongst that bias the flames seem to be put in last place (if the flames play another canadian team, they still dont get calls). It's not how many calls, although if you look at it you'll see the flames on average take about twice as many penalties / game as their opponents on a regular basis (which is complete horse sh*t).. but it's WHEN the calls are made. The stripes will get the other team up 5-2 with power plays all game, and then with 30 seconds left in the game call a few against the other team so the final score sheet looks like they werent so one sided... maybe in the end it loks like the other team had 6 power plays to the flames's 4... when in reality they only got two while the game mattered. Complete and utter BS... like I said the NHL and it's refs are a joke.

pictures... I want pictures!!!! I'm working on a complete redraw of the FF "(insert curved trout) C" logo. with www.flyfishcalgary.com underneath. should be good. Might be a while on this. U guys want the logo black and white, or... with some color? maybe 2 or 3 toned? Brown for the trout, some other color for the other lettering? Maybe I'll slap up a black n white and some w/ color... prolly post em sometime tommorow morning.

I can add that in somehow. I kinda like a stylized trout myself, rather than an outline, but I'll do a quick logo of both after dinner.

Here's a few more. The fly in the first one was just snapped off the net, we'd have to have a member tie up a nice fly and get a perfect pic w/ white background for us. last one is using Pythagoras's casting guy image, we'd have to have someone touch that up with a pic of our own. the skyline ones, same thing, get a real artist to do those up nice and the trout, I'd envisioned a nice brown trout there on that logo.
