  1. Great fish. I'm almost coming out of my boots for sept 25th to arrive now can't wait to get over there!
  2. Hopefully maybe someday your wife will become interested in flickin a fly or two as well Nice pic.
  3. beauty!
  4. That's where it can get really confusing for people. There's "general" regulations for an entire area, like southern alberta, for example, that allow fish. Then for each site there is regs differing from the general regs. Someone new to the whole fishing scene could have trouble figuring out wtf there doing with regards to regs, seen it a million times even from experienced guys who bought the regs / licenses to fish alberta the day before and TRIED to figure them out.
  5. spectacular series of photo's thanks for sharing!
  6. I bet bass poppers did awesome in frogwater after dark. I've fished mice imitations in backwaters of the bow at night. max are you saying that instead of a black / dark fly you would tie something like a white caddis for after dark? I've experimented with some goofy shiz, like using a hot pink elk hair caddis, and they still eat it. I'm not so sure color makes on damn bit of difference. It's all about profile and your presentations. I do think the theory surely makes sense that.. they'd see something white, after dark, a lot better than something that's darker. My biggest brown (and maybe my biggest bow river fish fish ever) was on a white bow river bugger, at about 2AM
  7. you did the right thing by educating. by the sounds of it she misread the regs. they can get pretty confusing, to be honest, especially if your not really reading and re-reading them.
  8. Kinda hard to get a good presentation through that glass  sweet pics. I love places like that.
  9. I got harassed by ospreys on a small southern stream last week. It was actually pretty amazing. they'd come from this tree screeching and making all sorts of noise, barrelling directly at you, then peel off at the last instant... kinda like getting charged by a bear even! I think they had a nest up in that tree, but the funny thing was even as we got farther from it they'd still come at us. Maybe they just didn't want us fishing "their water".. lol (there were no other footprints here) I have seen small birds pick away at larger ones a lot, but never "hitch a ride" that's pretty cool
  10. awesome. a family that fishes together, stays together
  11. That honestly looks like a fish that got outta the crow and found it's way to wherever it was that you got it. Fantastic looking fish
  12. wonderfull!

    2009 Pinks

would love to see them but I don't feel like signing up for facebook. Too much identity theft goin on from there. Had one of the wife's family members get identity stolen from there I wont touch it... any way you could post a couple fishing ones here?
  15. [sarcasm] Those pics suck... (i'm just trying to be different) [/sarcasm] I like the ones of the mayflies for sure. Just had a very good day fishing those in "the south" here
  16. I may have my facts slightly wrong. I remember it being there "grand opening sale" or something and I was shopping for bargains. Perhaps it was only 5 years ago. I'd like to forget it happened. If it wasnt some annonymous message board name, coming on and posting with facts only the guy I argued with at the store could have known about, and I could prove that... I would have most certainly gone with a legal action. It was that bad. If your now having a good experience there then great, maybe they've turned it around.
  17. I love how everyone just assumes they know where every picture is taken on here. I'd have thought it was a lake... as there's a lot of lakes down south that have a lot of fish just like that one. Nice fish, regardless of wether it's "a big dum stockie" or not... who cares.
  18. I'm finding myself more and more interested in what "else" goes on around the stream. Yes, that includes looking at and identifying flowers, wildlife, taking time to just sit on the bank and soak it all in, even somewhere I've hiked 5 miles to get to and fish are happily rising... I like to have a good bit of time to soak it in sometimes..
  19. must be under new management from 10 yrs ago then becuase I'll never set foot into the one in north calgary again. They wouldnt replace a reel that fell apart the first time it was used and then accused me of "banging it on rocks" and also slandered me on several message boards. Great guys eh? and this was after I spent over 1000 bucks on a new rod and an islander reel, and the okuma reel that fell apart.
  20. Yep. Most of my biggest fishies have come right at or after dark. Including rainbows. Havent had much luck for bulls in the pitch black.
  21. Nice lookin piggy. lots of little lakes and ponds "way down south" that he coulda been from we got quite a few with unknown piggies.
  22. LOLOL Rickr we gotta get golfing someday man... "do you breathe in or out on your backswing??"
  23. he's even got the expert "no background" pic down to a tee glad you had fun!
  24. yup. over the years ive gone from a have-to-catch-fish guy to a just wanna be on the water guy. nothing better than finding some fish to watch too, as watching them instead of casting to them can be an invaluable teacher.
