  1. The Garmin 60 CSx is one of the better GPS units on the market (best reviews, etc.), the replacement is not as good! GPS city (or whatever it is called had them on sale last fall or matched what Costco.ca had them listed for)... SHould be a few new old stock still kicking around. P
  2. Taco, you made me grin( r ) with that one!!
  3. Colin was it you that told me that there are only a couple factories that actually make the lines to different specs?!
  4. Unfortunately there are way more asshats then responsible folk!!
  5. Don't cut it back just yet (if at all)... Try it out first to see if the sink rate is what you are looking for with the depth of water you usually fish ("technically" sink tips should be used with unweighted flies). 16" - 18" tippet should be adequate up to 24" or so... For bullies I usually go 16" - 18", swivel and then another 12" of tippet (or steel leader for pike). P
  6. Yeah there was a post on here a while ago regarding that... Not sure if it was pulled b/c of sponsorship issues, etc. Though no sponsored shops (or any fishing related shop) rents pontoons... There is a place that rents pontoons but that's all I got! Sorry! Hopefully someone will chime in that knows or PMs you directly... P

  8. Yes I realise that... My point was a reference to the ongoing reputation of this site by some... It was meant to be tonge and cheek!! Maybe I should have used a LoL My mistake!! P
  9. Yeah I don't think so!! That would be elitest! LoL Maybe to benefit all "anglers" but not "just" fly anglers!! The Elk is NOT fly fish only!
  10. Hey Rick, I thought with "inkind" donations, no tax reciepts would be issued?! P
  11. Hmmm... Every time I've jetted/floated with Tungsten, he slows down for Drift boats, pontoons, even wading anglers... Never hear him complain that he has to slow down - he does it out of courtesy!! He should teach classes!! Talk about disrespectful jet boaters!! The Cochrane section is INSANE! P
  12. I recently had some Ahi Tuna Jerky and was searching online on how to source it in Canada, and at the same time was looking for some info on Patagonia's Salmon Jerky fundraiser... I found this (not sure how to embed a video): Patagonia Provisions
  13. I have both lines on different rods... So I don't know how much help I'll be... I have Grand on my 6 wt FLi (Fast action) but don't like it as much as GPX (both are weighted about a 1/2 a wt heavier, but the grand has a longer head - which actually roll casts better, but I prefer the GPX for my casting stroke)... I have Gold on all (if not most) of my medium/fast action rods (all three of my 4 weights and my wife's 4 wt) and like it. I also have the Rio trout specialty on my medium action rod (3 wt)... Best thing to do is call around to see if a shop has them loaded up and cast both with your rod. You are welcome to come over and throw my 6 wt Grand if that is the wt you are looking for... P
  14. This past week Deb and I flew into Sorcerer Lodge for a week of ski touring (we "earned our turns")... Here are a few photos that may or may not do this trip and area justice... Enjoy! The only way in or out Our home for the week Our playground for the week Skier's heaven What to choose, where to go? Looking down off the Moraine Deb skiing down the Moraine What goes down must go up (I swear we each lost 20 lbs)... and up... (climbing up to The Perfect Glacier) and up... (boot packing up to the Nordic Glacier - you can see the lateral Moraine I've referred to in the background)) Deb and I boot packing and up... and up... (I want to give you an idea of how big this area is - White Russian Col in the background) and up... ( up to the White Russian Col) and down (what dreams are made of - lots of these types of photos) You'll notice that we stay left of the furthest right (guides) track - crevasses to the right of her track! Staying safe with snow analysis every day! Kellie, the guide is in the middle - I've known her for almost 20 years! Digging snow pits is a group effort Clear night doesn't necessarily mean clear morning! Still waiting to receive some of the photos of me from the other members of the group (sucks when you are the one with the camera! LoL) Peter
  15. Sink tip!
  16. Should still work... You more or less want to seal it up so it doesn't fray or flake.
  17. Hells!! Take it into Wapati... They should do it for you if they have any sort of customer service... I'm 99% sure any of the sponsor fly shops ( with maybe the exception of one - I don't shop there so I don't know. Even "most" of the non sponsor shops would) would do it for you in Calgary, so you'd expect that they would, as well?!
  18. That's the only thing you can do, but I'd take it back to them and have them do it!!
  19. Mike, What a great "teachable moment"! You have an opportunity to teach the kids in your (their) club all about "impact" while at the same time give them a great (and memorable) experience! All in all it's about "balance"! Hopefully the message(s) will stick for the future of the resource! Have fun! Let me now if you need any help (I'd volunteer - with security clearances, etc. of course)! P
  20. I've had the previous Patagonia Riverwalkers (felt) and they were awesome. After a few years I sent them back on a (minor) warrantee issue and they couldn't replace them with my size so refunded me the entire cost. After my Korkers eventually go, I'll be looking into another pair of Patagonias (though the replacable sole of the Korkers is VERY convenient as is the boa system, and I've NEVER had any issues with either in a year and a half - old version of the Guides - stitching is starting to come out on the right toe so I'll have to take them to a shoe maker to get them restitched)... I'd love to go with Simms but they are WAY too wide for my foot (even with a neo foot)... P
  21. Hey Paul, I have a bunch of 2 part epoxy resin that I purchased to repair a canoe. I won't be able to use it all in my life time so you are welcome to it just return the unused amount. Peter
  22. I know my wife had a heck of a time trying to find some and used a small mens set for the 1st season. We were able to find some Patagonia women's specific waders as they were discontinuing them. They are a great wader and you should still be able to find some online somewhere at a very good price (Ebay/Sierra Tarding Post or BRTFs may even have some still in stock). Either way, if she wants to try on Deb's just to get an idea of fit she is more then welcome (though Deb is a little taller - I think Deb got Medium with 8/9 feet - there have been issues with the foot sizing with the Pati's)... But as you mentioned, buying online has it's disadvantages so Jay's suggestion of the Redington's @ FTs is a good one... Peter
