  1. Johnny... Don't confuse the federal parties with the provincial parties!! Totally different!!
  2. I have but you better know how to play a fish properly or you risk snapping your rod or unnecessarily fatiguing the fish... P
  3. Hey Murray, Watch out for BBT!! He'll expect that you buy him lunch!! LoL P P.S. JK
  4. Clive, There is no Evergreen Party option!! And for the record, only the AB Liberal party brought up the logging of the castle issue in the Legislature!! P
  5. Very cool Ryan! I remember when I took "Stars for Studs" (Astronomy) during my 1st undergrad and took photos of the sun (with a mylar lens). It was super cool - you could make out sun spots! We also figured out how old the universe was (The formula that is used is amzingly long - you had to measure the change in the distance a particular star had moved over a period of time [photo taken at two different times - I can't recall exactly but something like 100 years apart]). If I recall correctly the universe is something like 14 billion years old!! P
  6. For those 2 applications I would agree (with maybe an 8'6" 4 wt)! P
  7. Hey Jeff , Someone else just inquired as well. So far so good. I haven't used it underwater or in low light. Photo quality has been good and other then the issues uploading video to a mac (as you read) I've been happy with it. I've also read good things about he new Nikon WP as well. I've had a few issues with my finger on the lens and in the photos b/c there is no lens cap and where the lens is situated (upper left as opposed to in the middle like my last camera. I like the fact that I can turn off the gps. Other then that I'm quite happy with it. P
  8. Well there ya go, they do exist!! Price on the Orvis is US$240 (plus US$20 for ordering b/c you are Canadian and then add shipping and duty). Not sure what CPs would charge and if they would charge you a special ordering fee (maybe Bcube can pipe in) Redington CT is around $160 (+GST) at FTs (no special ordering price if they have to order one in!)! The Dan Craft's are about $300 - $350 to have some one build one for you)... P
  9. I have both 5 & 6 piece custom rods (blanks are dancraft five rivers LT) for backpacking (1 - 3 wt 8' 5 piece, 1 - 3 wt 8' 6 piece [wife's] & 9' 4 wt 6 piece). The only other 6 piece that I know of is the Redington CT (Classic Trout - I have 3 wt 7'6" 4 piece - AWESOME value) not sure a 7 piece exists, if so it is not that common! 6 piece is great at about 16" & 18" per section respectively. The Dancrafts are a medium fast action and the Redington is a moderate action. For your purpose definitely consider a med/fast or mod action rod (for a delicate presentation) Just my 2 cents. P
  10. This was one of the threads that I found... Good info, some (more) practical explinations and some more technical... http://www.maineflyfish.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6506
  11. Yeah I'll get it from my work computer tomorrow and post.
  12. Mike, But I am half serious!! The only "leader" (politician) I have respect for is Sherman, and I'd vote for him (alone) if I could but our current system doesn't allow that. And I wish we had proportional representaion (which the Evergreens propose but they are never getting in) And I hate everyone else!! And if I don't vote, I can't bitch!! So I guess I'm going to split the vote (protest vote)!!
  13. Thanks for your insight Jay! Nonetheless, I have found the answer to my inquiry! P
  14. Just curious... Other then personal preference what would be "some" technical differences between an 8'6" and a 9' rod of the same weight, brand, model, etc?! *EDIT* and other then the obvious 6" difference in length!! LoL
  15. Yup not mac compatible (at least for my version of the camera [purchased late 2011] might be different with the latest version)... I've sent out an e-mail to Panasonic to see what they have to say... Probably have to use this though: http://www.hdconverterformac.com/mac-avchd...-converter.html Cheers, P
  16. Yeah I wasn't able to look at it last night after work... But I did find this tid bit searching the interweb... If you use a Mac, the AVCHD (30 min recording at a time) mode does not play, I have to A) convert the file or set the camera to HD (10 min recording at a time) mode.
  17. Just an FYI. If it's within your budget, consider hiring a professional (two guides that are sponsors of this board currently have spring specials)... If you are new to the "game" then a half or full day session with a guide will be the best thing you could do (that way you don't pick up bad habits from any of us. LoL!). Trust me it will be money well spent and will save hour hours (even days/weeks) of frustration!! P
  18. Just bend it out to the side (offset the hook)! P
  19. I'll give it a try as I already have used VCL in the past to play downloaded torrent videos... Cheer, P
  20. Ok doing a bit more research online and we'll see how it goes... I'll be checking a few things out when I get home after work... P
  21. Thanks Eric, I thought I looked there, but Ill look again... *Edit* yeah all that is in the stream folder are "exec" files!! I'm pretty sure they are not Mac compatible (so I can't open them and may have to convert)... P
  22. Purchased this camera a few months ago and have been playing around with it... Went ski touring yesterday and took some video... How do I upload the videos to my desk top or to iPhoto (didn't transfer when the photos uploaded) and nothing in the instructions... All my previous cameras did this automatically... Thanks in advance, Peter *note* not to convert any of the files, just to be able to view them from my desktop (using quicktime or whatever) and email them...
