  1. Great to see a lot of people out there today and put some faces to the names. The space is actually just shy of twice as big as last year.
  2. Cash only please. Taxes are included.
  3. BTW, If anyone has flies they can donate to Casting For Recovery, Kerry Pitt (Writer1) will be collecting flies to send in on behalf of Fly Fish Calgary and Fly Angler. Any flies you can donate are much appreciated and will be going towards a great cause.
  4. Check the schedule at http://flyfishingevents.com
  5. See here for a link. http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?showtopic=3016
  6. I'll see what I can do. I'm not at home, and so I don't have access to the usual array of web tools.
  7. They have a paper backing to them in a lot of cases so if you use Tuffleye or epoxy that shoiuld work. My preference for eyes is to use the molded eyes and I use Zap-A-Gap to stick them on.
  8. There is now a coupon posted for you guys to get a couple bucks off the entry fee. There is food service there as well, wraps, soups beverages, I hear it is much better than at the Max Bell Center. Nothing licenced, but I heard a rumor there were jello shots in the kids area, get there early.
  9. Brent (Weedy1), I'll find out about the food and discount this morning for you. When you get into the show, come by the booth and see me, I have something for you.
  10. We'll have some gear available after the show. We'll be putting up a shop page somewhere. Sorry to hear you can't come down, but if the 1% happens, swing by.
  11. Just once, on the LSR near a hot spot. Other than that no. I have met a few CO's on the rivers and lakes and not been asked.
  12. Nicely Done. The top down view looks great.
  13. Your thinking of Paul Whillock - http://www.paulwhillock.com/ That's pretty shitty about Grahm's images, but it does boad well for his skills as a realistic tyer. Thanks for the link Sarah, I'll definatly give it a read.
  14. Wow, that sucks, but just think of all the nymphs that dog hair will tie. I've seen this happen a lot, but you got hit hard. Ussually it's just one old saddle....
  15. It's not quite like the keel hook (We have one this side of the pond, not sure if they are the same or not) it's more like the Sweedish dry fly hook. Here is a picture.
  16. Pliers, flies and my dignity on a couple dunking incidents.
  17. Nice video Tango. BTW, is that your LAW vise in the video? He makes an awesome vise.
  18. GL all, lots of great looking flies here. A few I'll be needing to try.
  19. LOL you think he has any honest money. Good luck with the Insurance company. My last dealing was pretty good, but it was just a little bumper thump. Crappy luck. Had a truck stolen in Calgary years ago, they took off the wheels and then rammed it with another stolen car. Calgary, Edmonton and Vancouver are all pretty bad for this type of crime.
  20. Very cool, thanks for the link.
  21. Click here if the movie does not play.
  22. My recommendation is to buy materials for 4 or 5 flies that you use most often and start with that. Once you have tied up a few dozen flies, you'll have a pretty good idea if you like it or not, not everyone does. If you stick with it, you'll likely want to upgrade the vise from the one that came with your kit. There are tons of tutorial sites with some great pattern ideas. http://flyangler.ca/index.php?option=com_f...s&Itemid=42 http://flyangler.ca/index.php?option=com_c...3&Itemid=32 http://flyanglersonline.com/flytying/beginners/ http://www.charliesflyboxinc.com/flybox/index.cfm http://flytyingforum.com/index.php?act=flyindex Of course, there is a wealth of knowledge here on the site, and lots of tyer who can help you out. Some videos http://copperfly.net/fly_tying_videos.php http://youtube.com/profile?user=topflyman When you find yourself walking behind a cute blond and you start thinking about using her hair to tie a fly rather than bounce a dime of her butt, you'll know you're in trouble.
  23. It took me a couple views, and a couple people to point out what was actually happening here. The angler hooks and lands a nice graying and then while he is reviving it, a pike come and attacks the fish he's trying to release, getting his hand in the action. It's a great video.
  24. Duncan loops and Improved Clinch knots most of the time.
  25. I remeber reading about a sighting near the Bear's Paw dam years ago. I'm sure that there may be something out there but to find a new species of megafauna would be something else.
