Guest RedWiggler Posted January 5, 2009 Posted January 5, 2009 Geezuz the refs are front and center again tonight, 3 bad calls in a row and its 3 PP goals. Quote
maxwell Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 great game tonight.. we owned em in the 1st and with only a few dumbass giveaways that cost us it was a great game! what was with teh ref's tho? some serious "roughin" minors there... Quote
LynnF Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 they played like they were the best out to beat the best. Was a really great game...I think Kipper has found his groove much like he did last year at this time. Loving that the Flames are 5 points ahead of Vancouver.....spaghetti boy can stay out a little while longer as far as I'm concerned. Sundin ain't gonna save them either. I predict he's gonna be a flop tonite. And I ain't buying into that bullshit about Kipper on cocaine. Quote
darrinhurst Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Sundin ain't gonna save them either. I predict he's gonna be a flop tonite. I hope you're right Lynn. Would love to see the Oilers kill them with Chicklets in the line up! Quote
Nick0Danger Posted January 7, 2009 Posted January 7, 2009 Not sure about the coke, but he does smoke that is a fact. Dion however needs to pick it up, always missing his man, and look just plain lazy. Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 How about that effort against SJ?? they looked damn good. I see a team that's really starting to come together. And Kipper is coming back around too. all is well in flames camp Quote
maxwell Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 oh hells yea lankow and bourque are on one hell of a tear as of late and moss and glencross are really impressive! nother win tonight aswell! should be a good rematch tuesday against the sharks! Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Yeah and on the road where they got punked 6-1 earlier. Will be intersting to see just how good this team really is... I think that game's the "litmus test". Quote
birchy Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I agree the boys are rockin and rollin now.. but as far as Kipper coming around.. i'm not so sure. Did you see the stat they showed toward the end of the game last night.. first 20 games/last 20 games.. Kipper has actually let in 2 more goals in the last 20 than in the first 20. BUT.. the boys are scoring alot more.. so, there ya go. Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Maybe... but I think Kipper's been great when he HAS to be great... which wasn't happening early in the year... Quote
acurrie Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 I agree, it's the timing of the saves more than the total goals he lets in. Quote
jimbow Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 thank gawd for some depth on the team this year. spreading the scoring around makes a big big difference. bourque, glencross, moss and dammit even bertuzzi have been contributing nicely. if only kipper can get back to his old ways. Quote
Guest RedWiggler Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 It would be nice as Kipper is still letting 2/3/4 goals in a game. That said the team looks better than ever right now hopefully they can keep it going. Quote
SteveM Posted January 10, 2009 Posted January 10, 2009 Too bad the Flames don't have a good, young backup goalie... Oh, right! They do... Too bad Iron Mike wants to break his confidence for some strange reason. McIlhenny has played really well the coupla times he's seen the ice, yet #34 gets nearly every start. I could kinda understand if Kipper was playing lights-out & stealing games, but he's not. Nothing against Kipper; I'm a big fan. But, what's the point of developing young goalie prospects just to ship 'em off to another team, without ever giving 'em a chance to play for the Flames. Might as well do what the Flames have done in the past: carry a career backup goalie who only plays 6-7 games a year & wins 1 or 2 of those... I think Curtis has looked calm & played great- no rookie jitters, even facing the Red Wings. Give him some starts, Mr. Keenan! I really do like the team they've put together this year; guys like Bourque, Camellari, & Glencross are playing fantastic. Nice to see that Iginla doesn't have to carry them every game! Quote
maxwell Posted January 11, 2009 Posted January 11, 2009 i agree with u bob.. curtis need more icetime.. what the hell is wrong with giving him a dozen games or so this year? would keep kip a litttle fresh too. might be better long turm too for the playoff run rather than riding him till he collapses.... Quote
darrinhurst Posted January 12, 2009 Posted January 12, 2009 There is also something to be said about competition. Giving McElhinney some starts in a row might make Kip think he's not up to snuff and make him earn his starts again. Quote
rehsifylf Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I'd say Kipper has been competant over the past month. not great - but then the team in front of him is excellent. I don't think Kipper playing every game has anything to do with Keenan - my bet is that this comes from Sutter. In any event, as someone that has been critical of Sutter in the past, I have to say that he did a great job over the summer - the three biggest differences in the team this year are Bourque, Camm, and Glencross. As for Bert - the last game was the best since he joined the team (he didn't take any dumb penalties and no annoying behind the back passes - if only his back could permanently ail him). One thing for sure - Curtis is 100% better at shoot-outs than kipper. He was awesome at the skills competition. Also - best shoot-out skill was Prust followed closely by Roy - go figure. Quote
Guest RedWiggler Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Brutal effort against the Blues but still got the win. Quote
acurrie Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 The Sportsnet announcer last night summed it up best, the good teams find a way to win and the bad/ middle of the road teams find a way to lose. Quote
Guest RedWiggler Posted January 14, 2009 Posted January 14, 2009 Its about time we started winning games we dont play good in. I have never seen Regher get hit as hard as he did last night, Janssen freakin smoked his ass. Anyways was at the game and besides all the fights it was real yawner. Quote
rusty Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 Two wins in a row against San Jose - including handing them their first home regulation loss. The boys looked amazing last night. If they can bring that to the playoffs maybe we won't be golfing after the first round again! Quote
jefferson Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 and the 'Nucks continue to choke! I love it... Luongo gets lit up by... who?? Ouch.. the Coyotes. Go Flames! Quote
jordo Posted January 16, 2009 Posted January 16, 2009 1st in the Northwest, 3rd in the western conference and 5th in the league... beating the best team in their own barn and both Edmonton and Vancouver losing.... Good day to be a die hard Flames Fan! Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 17, 2009 Posted January 17, 2009 Impressive effort by the boys.... GREAT effort by the goal posts to keep goals out (on both sides) LOL.... Quote
