No offense, but I prefer to support the Calgary flyshops and local tyers. These folks support our local fishery and are hands on involved in our local conservation efforts.

The local shops also support local fly tiers. The supplier up north seems to be an importer from overseas tying houses. Their prices are way too low to be anything else. Just my thoughts.

I once had an employees from one of those Calgary stores (can't remember which one) tell me that he tied every one of those flies himself....hmmm ok.

I definitely agree,we should support our local businesses. That is what I was doing when i originally posted answering OP. Trick flies is just down the road aways from me. 

However I tend to spread "local" out to be all Alberta more than the town I live in. As I fish all over Alta.

Agreed - The flies are cheap for a reason. Hooks bend out, "whip finishes" come apart. You get what you pay for.
