threepwood Posted June 16, 2016 Posted June 16, 2016 Don't be like me. I drove out to the Highwood last night to camp, hoping to get an early start on opening day. I arose, bright-eyed and bushy tailed, with visions of cooperative cutthroats and perhaps a rainbow or bull trout dancing in my head. When I opened my bag, what did I see, but no pair of waders looking at me. I tried to make the best of it, but it was way too cold to wet wade. I did some exploring all around Kananaskis instead, and caught a couple of tiny brook trout on a new stream with a little fiberglass rod in howling winds. Nonetheless, it was not the day I had in mind. I hope you all do better than me, and don't forget your waders. 2 Quote

Roast Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 For me it's usually a reel. I should just put an old one permanently in the glovebox... Quote
woodfish Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Forgot the reel once... Think this is how they "invented" tenkara but I stomped home with blue swirls coming out my ears :-) Quote
Dangus Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Did that steelheading in the lower mainland once. Wet waded in February. Ha Quote

EveretteD Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Last weekend I brought the camp stove to have a few hot dogs for lunch. Brought the fuel and the stove. No lighter..... Luckily I ran into someone I know on the river. Saved me from having an hangry fiance for the rest of the day! Quote

trailhead Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 Then there was the time I brought my 4 wt rod tip and a 6 wt butt section to the Livingstone. Good thing I followed Red Green's advice and always carry duct tape. Quote
reset Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 I keep a backup of everything i use in the truck. I use the backups lots. Quote
danhunt Posted June 17, 2016 Posted June 17, 2016 In a pinch a 2" C-clamp with the handle cut off works surprisingly well as a make-shift oar lock for a pontoon boat... Quote
threepwood Posted June 18, 2016 Author Posted June 18, 2016 Did that steelheading in the lower mainland once. Wet waded in February. Ha You, sir, are a maniac 1 Quote

creekside Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Went on a bone fishing trip with a buddy. He had all his gear till he assembled his gear the first day and noticed that the #8 weight reel was in fact his 6 weight reel complete with freshwater floating line. Thanks goodness for back up gear. Quote
scel Posted July 1, 2016 Posted July 1, 2016 Forgot my waders today. On the drive home into the setting sun, I realized that I had also forgotten my sunglasses. Sometimes, I wonder how I reached adulthood. 1 Quote
