  1. Hey FFfolks, Had a question about buying new tools, forceps, scissors, trail nippers, etc...I'm an older fella by hands alone, and only need a new tool. Seizing up real bad even trying to get through holding a bobbin, or a non-slip loop with my regular larger forceps/scissors, wondering if anyone has tried the 'mitten scissor' clamps? I have taped up most of my scissors/forceps but wanted some more advice, besides the regular 'take an Aleve and call me in the morning' answer. Thanks, -M.
  2. That's it, blame the origin countries, for mismanagement of the species. We wouldn't have our mighty Bow Browns and Athabasca Rainbows without Alleman. Ever went fishing in Austria..>>? Just saying... -M.
  3. BigFoamy, I didn't object to this photo, because you obviously know what you're doing. It does seem, however, that the upper green fly is hooked into the fish, by the rear fin, if you look quickly. I haven't looked at the photo up close, but it kinda looks that way. *...Upon further inspection, it's clearly above the fish...* Maybe that's why someone had a knee-jerk reaction to a fish in super-clear water. Weird. -M.
  4. Thanks Bron and BurningChrome. I do use a lead-free wire (!) if available, otherwise a lead wire. Learned about the wire push into the conehead from a veteran online gentleman who posts almost every week. Thankfully, my conehead hasn't migrated too far into the shank, just a thing to have a loose conehead after tying...you know how it goes. Cheers! -M.
  5. I do need your advice, Bron. Securing a conehead is fun..but one might take that last bit of wrap and maybe make it, or waste some over-tying Zonkers. Any tips on securing a conehead when just a bit short would be appreciated.. if it's convenient. -M.
  6. A signature floppy...? Who cares... just a variation. :roll eyes: -M.
  7. Another one tonight, I like how the Squirrel and tail markings turned out on this one. Maybe I'm learning something. -M.
  8. My first take on a double-tail Olive/Chartreuse Slumpbuster, #6 700B Dai-Riki, with the bent shank. -M.
  9. ...And went for a bigger tie...my first #8 hook ever, with a weighted Purple Leech thing...copied from a store-bought from last year. -M.
  10. Wow. Well Done BigFoamy... love the articulated platform! -M.
  11. Tried for a few of these #16-#18 Chironomids, with a red butt and a bit of flash. Found the Krystal Flash collected a lot of river muck, but got a few with this one, even when the water started to rise. -M.
  12. Ok this is getting Bananas f**ked up... I'd never heard the term..I was flailing around a bit..trying my best. Why say anything...? Just let us dedicated Amatuers get to learning about our blessed sport. -M.
  13. I cast for the current, for safety and for my ability. Haven't tried 'Full Spey' casting yet, just getting my feet wet (as a Hydrophobe) with a 10'8" Switch Glassy.... -M.

  15. Bron, No Sir/Mm I fish for me, and don't need any reason to fish for Social Media crap. I guess they forget that they never started on a Glass rod.. -M.
  16. Bron, Why would a Bow fisherman be a d**k like that though? I just don't get it. anyhow. I reaaaaaly need to go fish now. I can get it... -M. PS- yes, I understand the difference between yds and feet now...60-65 feet...
  17. I'm not a tweaker, Bron. Some f**kface walked past me where I was fishing , and called me a 'Cack-Handler' Switch caster...?? Everyone has beginner/rusty days....?? When I finally calmed down, I was hitting 65-75 feet...what's wrong with that? That's what made me angry...just trying to text it online too fast. -M.
  18. opskagit.com is pretty nice right now...but many out of stock, and quite expensive (Intruder is $15.00 USD....) yes it's an 'merican site, but they have a pretty clean handle on great streamers...just sayin'. Have you checked out Iron Bow..? -M.
  19. Thank you. It's not a big issue, as stated, but saved a prime piece for my first true "Salmon Fly". No desire to grab a dead Duck. If I shoot it, maybe...but I haven't yet learned to shoot at just birds... Dunno who was flailing around in the water at Dog Park/Confluence...swear he lost something important...nearly lost Himself wading too!! . Thanks FFForums.. -M.
  20. Hey folks, been away from my main computer for a while. Keep in mind I found these feathers back on February 19th. Here's an image of the last feather of 5 that I kept. They didn't have any flesh or bugs, they were just very waxy to the touch, so I'm assuming a 'mother mallard' (thanks professori ) The small pile of feathers was just in a small group on clean snow. Might use this last one for tails or legs on smaller stonefly patterns. It was kind of neat to use feathers in a fly from a 'local' bird. -M. Hey Bron, were you fishing at Dog Park this morning, and did you try to intercept this dead Drake today, on the crossover from the island? I thought you had lost a net or something! (what is he doing ?!?) -M.
  21. It was told to me that it was a Mother Drake. I'm not a Hunter, so I didn't know. -M.
