    Last Few Days

Great Fish, Great Company, Great Weather. Couldnt have asked for a better day and a nicer person to catch a truly trophy fish. Good job Bryce
  2. Straight bermed hats, colourful t-shirts or shirts........ skate/snowboard clothing if you will. Anyways im a pretty respectable person and am very well spoken. Needless to say in my personal experiance i have had more people turn me away then not. Maybe it is just me, who knows.
  3. Could very well be Dog Pound, sorry the info is in the back reaches of my brain lol....
  4. I Believe, and dont quote me on this that there are only around 9 sections of rivers/streams (pretty sure only streams) that are owned by someone besides the goverment in Alberta. Not sure on three point however i do know of 1 around edson, and 1 on the jumping pound. Problem i personally find is that me being young, and often times not dressed in "respectable" clothing in the eyes of the beholder i get a less then welcome response when asking if i can cross land. It seems that us younger people have a harder time getting permission to cross land then alot of the older folk. Ive even had a case where i was 5-6hours walking distance from the bridge on a section and was joined by a fellow fly fisherman who accused me of crossing his land as he has never seen anyone at that point in the creek and there was no way i had walked up that far.... Thus is life thou, im sure there are many willing to share access, but there are just as many not willing. Personally i dont see a problem with people walking over cattle grazzing land, but i guess there are those sue happy individuals out there trying to twist an ankle and make a quick buck Dustin
  5. I think what he is trying to say that in a campground, if your willing to pay why shouldnt you be able to. If your trailer is there for a month and your paying the daily fee, then its just like your camping for a month.
  6. Hey Guys, I’m not directly allowed to speak on behalf of Trout Unlimited Canada but I will make you aware that the person previously in charge of communications in terms of press releases, events, and general information as well as the only person capable of changing the website has left the company to pursue a different employment opportunity. As a result Trout Unlimited Canada must now bring in a web design professional in order to make the slightest change to their webpage, which at the going rate is very expensive especially for a non profit organization. That being said, they are in the process of bringing him in to post the winners as well as make some other changes to the webpage. I can also let you know that all the winners have been contacted and that the winning tickets are as follows: 2151 2182 2464 Sorry for any Inconvenience Dustin
  7. Do many of the creeks a favour and head to an over populated brook trout stream. Bragg creek comes to mind, catch your limit and have a fry of one of the best tasting fish around while also helping the native fish in those systems and reduce the stunting of the introduced species(brrokies).
  8. Stick to the banks, especially the areas where there are undercut banks, as well as the slower seems. LOTS of trout to be had during run off.
  9. Not really fishing related, but 2 freaky lightning storied non-the-less. 1st happened to me when I was around 10-12, a major storm blew into Penhold (around Red Deer) and I had biked to school, and believe both my parents were in RD working. So being the trooper that I am, I put on my jacket and booked it for home which was ½ across town from the school, I knew a short cut through the trailer park so as I was going about I dunno 50-100yards ahead of my a cat was crossing the road, and I kid you not Lighting slammed down right where that cat was. Like honestly, right on the cat… This giant bright flash, insane instantaneous bang, I got knocked from my bike… got up my ears were ringing… came to my senses and the cat was gone… dunno if it got turned to ash but nothing was left of where that cat was. Anyways noone in my family believed me, until in the Red Deer Advocate paper someone else had reported seeing the exact same thing from 1 of their trailers. So that was cool, and the last one happened as we were driving along QE2, lightning hit like 10feet beside are car….again giant flash, almost purple even. Again this was sweet because my brother and mom were crying and I thought it was cool , funny how things like your big brother crying and you thinking it was awesome do wonders for you confidence. 10. Ok sorry, then your an employee id never want to work for me if you knew major flaws in their system and never brought it to the attention of anyone who could do anything about it. So im just going to go ahead and say that by your complete ignorance that there is 50 guns on the street because if how ever many years ago you had said and done something Wholesale would not be in the situation they are in now. Good Job!
  11. *hit happens man, look at how many companies get stolen from.... infact i remember years back that the Canadian Military kept getting stuff stolen from them at many of their bases... so before you freak the @#(* out calm down. Granted that firearms should have strict security policies, but wholesale the company should not be blamed directly, the blame falls on the less that admberable employees who went against the law and stole these. Sure its the companies fault for letting it happen, but at the end of the day people should be trust worth enough where they shouldnt have to worry.. however i suppose this is the world we live in. Lastly dont start spreading rumors like the guns were used to kill wild horses, thats complete BS.

    Sea-run Cutty

Any tips on how to catch any of these guys? my brother lives on the island and ive always wanted to get a sea run cutty, is it best to target them closer to the mouth of the river? or do you find them pretty far up? hooks to use, when to fish? or is there a good book or website that i could do a bit of research on. Not looking for any secrets just a general idea Thanks Dustin
  15. My Story involved me fishing a Deep Deep pool in SW alberta pulling streamers till i hooked something deep in the head of the run in the fast rapids, but i was just stuck. What ever i hooked wasnt moving and about what seemed like 25min of me trying to get free i was thinking i was going to have to break off the hook. Then the most bizzarre thing happened it gave a couple head shakes, then it started to move, then it started to move up threw the rapids with NO resistance at all. I was like OMG i caught the monster from the deep and thought for sure i was landing this thing, then it got tired of me and snapped me off. I got one glimse of it, and it wasnt a very good one but it was big. I think ill stop it there as its post st.pattys day and my head hurts .
  16. Went to school with one of them, was actually a decent friend of mine. Sad day for me as he is the same age as me 24, and yet another friend of mine taken to early. Thus is life i suppose. My thoughts and prayers go to his family. You will be missed Josh. Dustin
  17. Hello fellow Fly Fisherman! Many of you probably don’t know me, and if you have read what i've said on the boards some might not even like me. Haha but this is life, but I have had the pleasure to meet some of you, which has been a great experience. Anyways my name is Dustin and I have met some of you at wholesale sports as I work the odd day or two in the fly shop there. Anyways onto the point of this post! I am a Student at the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. Currently we are working with the Children’s Wish Foundation and Selling Smiles 101 to help raise money to send 2 little girls from Calgary who unfortunately have been diagnosed with Leukemia to Disneyland. Just to give you some information about these 2 beautiful girls, their names are Madison, and Ryane both of which are 5 years old. Madison was diagnosed with leukemia at the age of 2 and has had a long and hard battle to overcome this hardship, while Ryane has found to have a cancerous tumor in her stomach at the age of 3 and has gone through equally as much. As fate would have it these 2 girls shared the same room at our wonderful Children’s Hospital and also have had the pleasure of being camp buddies at Cancer camp. I’m pleased to say that both girls have currently beat cancer, but as many of us know there is always a possibility of this deadly disease returning. Both these girls have gone through hardships many of us will never hopefully have to deal with, and unfortunately some of you likely have. On to a lighter note, these girls have both qualified to have a wish granted by the Children’s Wish Foundation and have asked to both be sent together and with their family’s to Disney Land. This is awesome and I am doing everything in my power to reach out to people to help this cause. What it is that we are doing is taking both donations, and selling high quality knifes from a company called Cutco, I'm sure many of you have heard of these knives as they are of the highest quality. Anyways the money that would usually be received from the salesperson in terms of commission is being donated directly to the Children’s wish foundation. The 2nd thing I am doing is accepting any donations, all donations that are $25 and above receive a CWF tax receipt. I don’t expect to sell anything to anyone and that’s not what I am trying to accomplish. I know that many members of the fly fishing community are pillars of our community and are always willing to help a cause out. Anyways I will leave it at that, and anyone who is interested is welcome to drop me a PM and inquire about anything they need to know and feel free to reply. Ill leave you with that and attach a couple images of the Girls and an article of the past success of this partnership. Thanks for your time Dustin Oh and please excuse my grammar, I'm a Finance Major
  18. You know in all honesty i dont, but it is something i would love to learn in all seriousness haha
  19. I like this idea the best, except i also agree that a trophy should be made for the luckiest angler to catch the largest fish, this would be something hopefully handed down year after year. Aside from that i think it should be a random draw for teams, but as Brad had mentioned you wouldn't want to fish with someone you dont like. I agree and disagree, chances are some of your friends will be on the opposite team, and as long as a A and B fish together it would all be good. But you should also give some other people a chance, i personally have fished with few people from this bored, but have met many on the river. Case in point i ran into Brad last sunday, and wednesday. I would love to be able to fish with someone new for the day and "Network", even if it is for better or for worse. Thats just my opinion, sorry if none of this even makes sense :S, ive been pretty sick and was in the hospital so the drugs are playing with my mind. Dustin
  20. I once was using 2 nymphs and caught 2 whites in a nice deep pool in which a bull trout came and grabbed the top white fish and broke everything off... i thought it was pretty funny because he grabbed the whitefish pretty good and when he was swimming with it he was draggin the other one with him
