Nice rod that S series. I hear that his matching lines are magic.

Feed the wire through the eye. Wind it down, snip off front and back with fine cutters. Much easier.

The tug is the drug. Whites are great, I have had some great evenings mid summer playing with them as they sipped dries.

Peach 444 is very nice, I also like the Rio lines. My very favorite are silk lines by Terenzio, and Hardy and a few other makers. have a Hardy Silk form the 1920's that beats anything else I have. They do take some maintenance but incredible lines.

They are fun to catch, fished for them occasionally in the Okanagan in Swan and Okanagan lakes and down in Osoyos.

Have quite a few reels with drum drags. Seldom use them any more it seems. Love and have gone back to the click drag as I find them to have the perfect amount of drag. I like the personal control and quickness of palming as opposed to a set brake. But that's just me.

The one that really makes me wince is the buys that hold fish by sticking a finger under the gill plates. Oh those delicate gills.

Looks like a handy tool, I normally tie on a waxed needle or between tow vices.

Easy, just get an old box such as a shoe box. Cut some slots with a knife or scissors along the top open edge. Push the dumbell eyes in the slots and you have a holder for as many as you want, easy to paint both sides. hope this makes sense.

Just an additional point to Don's excellent post. Some fly tying materials I have received including a Pheasant skin I picked up last year had been treated with mothballs to keep critters from attacking the skins. The streamers I first tied (to imitate baitfish) got no hits at all till I clued in. I did a quick dip of the flies, half a batch in vinegar and the other half in baking soda and water. The vinegar did work for scent removal but baking soda was far superior. The other thing noticed, and again this is personal observation only, was that keeping a bit of Borax instead of moth balls kept the bugs at bay as well as preserving and did not repel trout. I would recommend a dip in baking soda, as a general way to remove scent. Have used it for years on waders and vests.

On the plus side- I love tying on it, have the small jaws and tube system, love it. On the minus side - Have a few other vices I need to sell that I haven't used for a few years now. Personal notes: Spooling auto bobbins has never been a hassle, takes about a minute, I label the sides of the spool with tape and a sharpie. I have two auto bobbins and about twenty spools, fill em once and they hold a lot of thread. I have a pal in BC that mounted his Nor on a steel base along with the thread holder on a separate base. Has made it wonderfully portable.

Hi all, I have a request please, sitting here at work and looking at the snow and cold and some of you may not know the damage you could cause during catch and release in extreme cold. Eyes and gill will freeze and become damaged in seconds when you lift a fish out of water in these low temperatures. Don't use a net and release in the water. Exhaustion is also a factor so avoid over playing a fish in really cold conditions. I tend to voluntarily not fish in the blow 15'eens. but that's me and many do. That's OK but please respect the trout (and all other species). Thanks for reading with respect Lornce
