  1. These are a pair of Pflueger Gems, they have enjoyed life in our family for a great many years, A solid workhorse still I take them out occasionally to play. In my younger days reels held fly line. Now they need to have personality, life and history and better still, memories.
  2. Sad news to all The well known tier jack Gartside has passed away after a battle with lung cancer. Jack was a friend separated by distance. I met and fished with him a number of years ago and he graciously gave me a number of his flies. he was a class act. His Gartside Sparrow is a great pattern. His loss will be felt by family and entire fly fishing community. For more info try this link: http://www.jackgartside.com/
  3. I should add that for the switch rods that I have tried in various lengths, I would certainly buy in the 10 to 11 ft range. Fot the 7 wt. that I hope to pick up it will be a 13.5. This judging by what I have tried a at variety of Spey claves in BC and the US.
  4. Thanks Max, you know the spot, them trees are a giveaway. Lost a real champ of a brown there last night in the frog water.
  5. I'm a fan of the Brodin Ghost net (Gallati) also. Great mid to large river net. I have a smaller mesh net for those special little waters. Suntoucher, Brodin sells thier bags separate.
  6. Without mentioning brands I have two 12.5 two handers a 4 wt and 6 wt, hope to add a 7 wt to the mix this year. Will more than likely sell the 6 wt, use the 4 wt most of the time. No Switch rods yet, haven't really made an imprint on me yet. Are you wondering what rods to bring to he show this year?
  7. Hands shaking, getting nervous, internal longing, must pack gear and spey rod and head west. No NO, focus now stady... must go to work. Thanks for posting.
  8. Nice to know the difference, thansk for posting. heard the flight was a good line but the Airflow has some great qualities also.
  9. I use gold when getting an ermerger fly down for a lift. A lot of emergers use a bubble to rise to the surface. On standard nymphs I will sometimes use tungsten beads to get it down. I will use tungston beads in an under body of nymphs like golden stones, adds weight without lead.
  10. I don't think this has anything to do do with fishing. You just had an encounter with a self opinionated jerk. Plenty out there.
  11. A quality post thanks for sharing.
  12. Very nice Boo needs to be fished.
  13. Yep ended up with the Pentax Optio W80. Nice not having to worry about dunking, have this one on a lanyard.
  14. Very nice you made my day. Love those small streams.
  15. Can't afford the new ones... It's the vintage I really like.
  16. Mmmm.. Hardy, don't get me started. Slowly replacing all my reels for Hardy's
  17. I have two 9/10 Presidents also, they make solid reels for the price. My preference is Hardy but that's a bit over t the price range.
  18. My daughter turned down your honor student! Daddy Farted, and we Can't get out!! Don't piss me off! I'm running out of places to hide the bodies. I love cats they taste like chicken Keep honking, I am reloading! Buy a gun. Piss off the liberals.
  19. Hay guys quieten down out there, I have 5 years to go for a free license!
  20. I like the rod holder great job.
  21. Lots of great advice here, I use Scandia, Skagit and Windcutters with sink tips. They all have their advantages. I tend to use Skagets in heavier wind bad weather. All will work for firing big streamers out. I flip to the two handers for winter also, much easier to reach those outer seams and easier on this body for a day of casting especially wearing winter layers.
  22. I have a McKenzie Bright Light w/Magnifier that I use, I like the light but the magnifier is good as a portable only as it's small. The magnifier I use is on a goose neck with a base which is great. It's about 5" and mad by "Daylight".
  23. Easiest way to label the spools is to run some low tack tap across the side. then label with a black marker.
