  1. I purchased the wading staff above from Cabela's (USA) 8 years ago. Best purchase ever!! the shock cord inside finally wore out and I purchased a similar one at Bass Pro near Calgary a few years ago. It collapses to a somewhat smaller size than the "name" brands and fits easily on my belt. I use it all the time and it makes wading so much easier. It's great on freestone streams but it does get stuck in softer mud/dirt and can pull apart. The carrying pouch is made of pretty thin material. My friend has the same staff and the pouch belt loop fell apart after a few years and I replaced it with a piece of nylon from an arm of an old camping chair!! I think this staff is the best value. It does the job and is not in the way until you need it. Highly recommended. If I could copy and paste on this site I would post the link.......
  2. I made the same inquiry a few years ago and got lucky. A member had a Patagonia wading jacket, in my size still with original packaging and tags for sale cheap/ cheap...Awesome jacket.
  3. I can't believe my family dog growing up, survived 14 years on Gainesburgers!!
  4. According to reviews the Simms Vapour may be what you are looking for.
  5. Uberfly....here's the kind of luck I have. I saw the Patagonia Lights on sale for 1/2 price from an online Canadian retailer in my size. I waited a few days and they were gone...dammit!! A local flyshop sells both the Simms vapour as well as the Patagonia Ultra light and recommended the Vapour......decisions ...decisions!!
  6. My 2 pairs of Cloudveil wading boots have worn out so over the winter I will be researching, then purchasing new wading boots for next season. I fish exclusively on the freestone rivers around the Oldman. I have only worn felt soles but I'm open to change if you think a rubber sole might be better for these rivers. I don't scramble around very much nor walk very far. I would prefer a lighter weight boot as that is what I'm used too. Any suggestions? Please indicate the make and model. Thanks!! I appreciate your input.
  7. I miss the caddis on the Oldman.....I don't see them around much anymore.
  8. Of course I do...only in desperation, early in the season if the water is high and dirty.....and, I'm terrible at it!!!
  9. I bought the NZ indicators to try this year for early, high water nymphing for cutties. Fortunately due to low run off, the cutties were looking up from day one. In fact I caught my biggest fish of the year on opening day on a Fat Albert!! I guess I'll have to wait until next season.
  10. I bought some and I seem to get my leader tangled around the stem. Granted.... I'm no expert nympher or caster. Anybody else have the same problem? Got mine at FT's...
  11. Bow....not like in "Bow Wow", but the river....
  12. Ray's dog's name is "Fisher".....too obvious!!!
  13. I brought mine into Fishtales and they shipped it in. Might have been pre Shimano days. Took a long time to get it replaced. Months......I believe a bit of bad luck made it take so long, Thankfully it was the end of the season and I was in no rush.
  14. There was a lot of misinformation doled out during the closures
  15. Not ALL..........St. Mary's is still closed. Great news nonetheless!!!!
  16. If I lived in Twin Bridges MT I could saunter over to Winston (I assume there are no ferries) and probably get my rod replaced and if my uncle was a woman she would be my aunt!! It definitely would be convenient to live near manufacturers. I guess having a TFO distributor here is as close as we can get.
  17. I have spent a lot of days fishing the Oldman and tribs this year and it has been one for the ages. The small snowcap and the mild spring led to minimal run off and water levels were about 6 weeks ahead come opening day. Low water levels and warm temperatures have put us fly fishermen in an unpleasant position. Many think the recent closures will make the Oldman/Livingston area even busier than it already is. I am hoping that fly fishermen that usually fish the closed rivers may just take some time off instead of rushing to the "Gap" for their fly fishing fix. The forecast is favourable as rain and lower temperatures are expected for the next few days. I'm thinking...If you really love fly fishing and the resource which is beautiful healthy trout. take the next few days off. Things will be better soon. The fish will be happier and the fishing will be better if we leave them alone for a few days. my .02 centavos
  18. Nope........Half Moon Bay, California
