  1. I just picked up an A2 3 wt 8 footer there this morning - great deal since it's being discontinued.
  2. I'll be there with the DC and switch...I also have a 10' G Loomis eastfork that is also nice for single handed spey casting.
  3. Great report! The streamwatch site is http://www.albertastreamwatch.com/ They're mostly in need of funds or equipment donations for their officers, which included the auction on this site and live auctions during a TU dinner in the spring.
  4. From the regs: Sportfishing by Indians Indians do not need an Alberta Sportfishing Licence or WIN card for general sportfishing. All sportfishing regulations must be followed. Indians are persons registered as Indians under the Indian Act.
  5. earth.google.com Might as well choke up the company internet connection while mapping out your favorite fishing spots.
  6. http://flyfishcalgary.com/board/index.php?...essential+flies GRHE, pheasant tail, prince nymphs, SJW's, and some stonefly nymphs would also be useful at this time of year. Royal coachmans are also popular grayling flies. For bulls, think big streamers like double bunnies and clousers in white, orange, and red to start.
  7. Goldeye can be fun to catch in that section, try dries, nymphs, or small white streamers. Walleye and pike are also in there, but I don't know if there's any browns that far down. Larger nymphs and streamers for those guys, and if the water is still murky and high use a heavier tippet (0 or 1 x). There could also be a few old rockies around; Usually catch 1 or 2 when fishing for goldeye.
  8. Was still empty back on the 15th. Sibbald Meadows would be the better bet.
  9. You could make a furled leader out of anything; I've tried mono but uni thread is another option I've seen. Poly leaders are quite different - contructed more like a fly line with a core and an outer layer. They have less memory than mono leaders.
  10. $1000 would seem to be a small price to pay to fix the health care problems as well. We're paying the government to govern, not get re elected.
  11. Police Outpost lake and Payne lake are nearby - Police has been doing better than Payne lately but it may have changed in the last week or so. For rivers, it's best if you ask Hawgstoppah what the current conditions are.
  12. Probably lots of suckers, but little else. I remember a kid falling into Nose Creek in Airdrie back in the 90's, and he ended up in the hospital because of skin rashes, so I wouldn't bother with that one. Plenty of good fishing on the upper bow, or drive to Dogpound after runoff if you want the small creek.

  14. That would be the entire key to the operation.
  15. I am sure we can find someone to fire whose salary would cover the cost.
  16. Damn, I always love these pic posts!
  17. Nobody we talked to (three or four groups) had seen or caught anything. I was hoping to help get my friends kids hooked on fishing there.
  18. I stopped by Mt. Lorette on the way out of K country on Saturday - didn't see a single sign of a fish. Do they list here even if they haven't done it yet or is there an escape route for em at the end of the ponds?
  19. Yup. You can still mend it as well, to get it down.
  20. I tie with my vise in a cheap aluminum roasting pan. When I get enough waste to cover my tying materials, i'll empty it out or create a franken bug from all the waste.
  21. Start with this: http://flyfishcalgary.com/chironomids.php Also good to have some leeches on hand to strip in or fish under an indicator, along with other streamers to strip. Tons of other tips on the web; look up Phil Rowley or Brian Chan for a ton of info, too.
  22. Do a search, the topic has been brought up at least a couple times before.
  23. I had analog reception at the boat launch and up on the road...and of course there's a pay phone right there too.
  24. There's a place in Brentwood mall, which is a specialty store for odd shaped feet - they had a few different types of hiking boots in stock last time I was in. http://www.foothealthcentre.com/contact_us.htm
