If you want an easy streamer to tie, grab a bucktail, big fly thread, krystal flash, epoxy and dumbbell eyes for some clousers, or the materials mentioned above for Woolly Buggers. Bigger flies are easier to work on while you learn the basics.
Also, once you have a materials list, check out a craft store like Micheals for marabou, wire, peacock herl, cheap feathers, markers, beads, and other stuff which is much cheaper than that at fly shops.
Lastly, stop by the dollar store and pick up a cheap box of toothpicks. They're invaluable for applying epoxy, head cement, holding materials down while you wrap thread, cleaning the head cement out of eyes, etc.
