  1. Thanks man, I love these. I found one growing under my spruce tree in my front yard 3 years ago. Did some research and started planting them last season. They dont flower their first season so I was super excited to see them start up this spring. I just planted a bunch more seeds down the other side of my house as well. In reading up, they (whoevers in charge of) want to change the name of the flower because of the Columbine shootings years back.

  3. As soon as I start to drag and hit stuff I move my indy down the leader. I want it as straight up and down as possible and floating, that can't happen if you're dragging your hooks off of stuff. She's a fine line though, the flies do need to be in the zone and fish like structure. You just have to feel/bob and weave your way around. As previously stated, I'm a pure feel player.
  4. A couple Soft Hackles. I really love fishing these as a single fly. I typically use partridge but dont have any. This hackle is CDC, Im excited to try them, out.
  5. First off I would like to state that I'm a self taught hack, no professional going on here Im a pure feel player. Yes i do still position my BIG fly at the top of my rig. Ive never really had a reason to change that position. Still tie off the bend as well. Its just easy and effective. No I do not tie my own leaders. I buy the 3 packs if you can get them, Rio 9' 3x. Start the indy about 2' down the leader. I typically tie on 4x to the leader then go first fly, if I start breaking off I will go 1st fly right onto the leader or attach 3x. Ive never used 2x tippet in my life or split shot or a swivel. The lighter the tippet the faster the flies sink. 8" is getting a little tight for me but, I'm sure it would work. Im keeping it 12ish but that varies as we go and break off and switch flies and such. On top of all that I mend like mofo, Im constantly working the tip of the rod and the line. I like to keep it as tight as possible and still get the drift required. Theres a lot of body movement and *hit going on lol!!!
  6. I nymph a lot, its how I learned. I catch the odd Whitey now and then but, mainly its Trout. That said, I go against the grain on leader length. I believe the general rule is to use a leader twice as long as the water is deep. I can't do that. If I'm fishing a 3 nymph rig, it will be less than 9' to the last fly and will end up moving the indy sooner than later. I always fish a short leader unless the situation dictates change, typically 6ish' or less from indy to last fly. Last time out I had a buddy dredging bottom, he managed two. I managed 17, fishing short. Way more control and feel as well. give it a try. Try not using a San Juan either (if you use one), whiteys love the worm. Use a weighted Jimmy Legs or a big stonefly nymph to get it down. Or a Bead head PT tied in a size 10 or 12.
  7. Yeah man its a joke! Is there to help you after you've paid into for 40+ years. Unfortunately people continually scam the system so when a guy like you comes along, you get treated like the scumbags that dont want to work.
  8. Just picked up the goods. Ive already eaten one pack of jerky, that is a good quality backpack!!! Thanks, BF
  9. First go at a Jimmy Legs. Always wanted to give one a try, buddy gave me one last week and it produced immediately. Are the legs to long? I think the first segment from the body to the joint is. I love these, super buggy pattern and real easy.

  11. Those guys that come around to aerate are the worst. My background is horticulture and turf management. Do yourself a favour and dont use them. They're machines are dirty and contaminated with "THE STUFF FROM EVERYONES YARD THEYVE DONE PREVIOUS/WEEDS, DOG *hit, ROOTS AND STUFF THAT YOU DONT HAVE IN YOUR YARD" just saying. If they dont have a pressure washer on site and offer to clean their machine first, its a contaminated machine. These guys are just weeds spreaders. Quack/crab grass is the worst, you really can't get rid of it without major steps taken. These guys just spread it around the neighbourhood. They just run the equipment, most of them aren't even sure why their doing it other than they get paid. Fertilize with weed and feed. it will feed your lawn while killing your weeds, it works! Killex DOES NOT kill everything but you're lawn. It kills dandelions great, after 15 years on the golf course thats about it. That said, dandelions go away on their own after awhile. Killex doesn't kill your grass. Its great if you have lots o dandies and want them gone!! Quack/crab grass is a problem and the #1 reason I wouldn't lets this guys in my yard. If you've got it and want it gone. You basically have to dig down 3'-4' and start your yard from scratch again or use use Round Up and then fix your lawn after it dies too. Be Careful, Round Up kills everything it touches!!! Its very effective. Im the guy that uses a kids paint brush and strokes individual blades of it to try and keep it from coming into my yard. Either one of my neighbours knows anything about yard maintenance, or one form of grass or weed to another.
  12. first one of the year, just now!!

  20. It was good once we got a boat off the rack and into the water. Everything was ready except they didn't put the boats out. Fishing was good, got lots between the three of us!!
  21. was there a few weeks ago
  22. I saw your post and went over this evening. Posted a couple pics in photo posts. My son and I are planning to get a boat and head out tomorrow after school. prolly around 2ish
  23. Sounds good, i'll take you out sometime.
  24. Im thinking you only have to take two bots at a time. over a period of the season you make 2/3/4 trips depending. On a particular day you could have yourself and three others at wherever you are and i could have myself and three others at my lake and so on. Then you switch lakes. I was going to more or less work it where i was just taking three buddies out. Anyways, there been around 115 looks with two comments that arent mine so I'm guessing it wont fly anyways.
