  1. My GLX is my go to rod. Best rod Ive ever owned. Ive broke and had it replaced 3 times with zero issues from G Loomis. I can't say the same for Sage, Customer service ruined that relationship
  2. IMO, jet boats are no different than the guys that drive through the river in their trucks or jeeps. Just another motorized vehicle in the river. 4x4ing is a lot of fun if you've never done it. Just as fishing from a motorized boat is.
  3. Nothing motorized on the river thank you. Im against it, period! My attitude towards it hasn't changed, apparently a lot of others have. IMO, people just can't see past the moment. its a joke to me, I was around when all these people that have jet boats where against them. Jet boats are like skinny jeans, its a trend. Its okay for anyone to assume theyre being respectful but, from shore or the ridge or anywhere else all boats look the same out there. The site and sound of the boat on the water is where it starts and ends. I dont care what you're acting like in your boat, the boat on the water is the problem, what you do after that doesnt even matter. Not a fight, its just my pov!!!
  4. I would love to call someone in. In over 20 years Ive never seen a poacher or anyone using bait or anything like that. You see the bait containers all over the place but, have never seen anyone using bait. IM looking for it while Im out there. Imo, jet boats are the only thing I see out there that looks or feels wrong. Still can't believe theyre allowed on our river
  5. so wacked! I love your dog, my buddy Jay had 2 of em! I had a Chesapeke Bay Retriever that got poisoned and a Springer Spaniel. The Chessy was a great pet, awesome dog but, that Springer lived in the bush, best hunting dog ever, no quit in that dog!!
  6. I haven't hunted in 27 years. It was a huge part of my life growing up. Pheasants where it for us (my dad and I). Im not even sure what you guys are talking about, release sites? Sounds really whacked! I remember Brooks had and released pheasants but, we stayed far away from there. We where driving through brooks one day and my dad nearly got shot! We just never went there for the purpose of hunting. We hunted, spent a lot of time driving and talking to farmers. We went where it looked birdie, got permission from farmers, parked our truck, released our dog and pushed bush! We didn't go where we new there where birds, we hunted them, we just figured it. Obviously you would see them now and then. It was never easy, we got our our 2 each every weekend and I loved every minute of it! I started to smoke dope and party in high school and haven't hunted since. Looking back I feel awful about that. I really wish I wouldn't have stopped hunting. A lot has happened since then, Im not even sure If I can legally own a gun anymore (keeps your hands off of other people, even if they are trying to hurt you, just run as fast as you can) I can't believe people would show up at a release site and shoot birds out of a box. Sorry if that offends anyone, it offends me that people would do that. Thats not hunting, period!! grown ups right? responsible adults with hunting licenses!!??!!?? I have a hard time with that. Same dna as those fish poachers!! WTF are you thinking? Should be zero tolerance, in situations like this. IMO!!
  7. Just drove over the bow at douglasdale and saw a guy flyfishing
  8. Dont over seed (sod if you can), it takes to long and doesnt take unless you get the seed into the ground. If you must, aerate first, then top dress, with you're seed, soil and fertilizer all mixed together, then rake it into the aeration holes (broom or rake). dont over water, you'll blow your mixture to of the holes. Lightly, let it soak in then lightly again, repeat! Get your fert down amnd do as the package would state, you can't go wrong with Scotts brand, tis what they do. Imo, you would be wise to aerate right now and get that seed in the ground, with your top soil and fertilizer. you'll want to check into which one to use, its different at this time of year and towards the fall. Next spring get fert down early and everything you put down this year should grow, then and the end of june early july, repeat the whole entire process. Put down and Weed and Feed combo, they work well. Ive had luck with them.
  9. I thought that was awesome. Guy looked to be walking away, guy kinda too swipe or grabbed him up near his face and BOOM, BOOM, BOOM, BOOM! Those first four landed solidly. Keep your bloody hands to yourself homie!!!
  10. Holy @$%! man. Its amazing how fast things can change your life. We'll be really pulling for your Dad and hopefully as time goes by that number gets bigger. All the best to you and your family.
  11. Thanks for all the positive reinforcement!!! It does help you get through it. I know that now. Conor, fishinglivin, monger the experience definitely changes you, I feel different today than I did before this happened. You guys have been through some nasty kid stuff by the sounds of it. I know we've all been through some nasty *hit, Everyones got a story. I try my hardest not to judge !!! Seems like when we're going through it that were the only ones, you're world just closes in on you and nothing else exists!! My daughter did a few long stays when she was 5, she had phneumonia 6 times in 1 year and nearly didn't make it out of the hospital the last time. She's now 12 and denies being sick, I love the attitude. Through that time we discovered that my two oldest kids have immune deficiencies and are prone to getting sick good times!! As time went on we just felt lucky that they (seriously) dont have to live in a bubble. That was a real option for us back then. Kids have their downside its not all roses!! So now Ive got my youngest here, the drs love that he's my only kid with (good blood) meaning he has no immune deficiencies, he's just got blood clot on his brain !!!!!! Kids being sick or injured never even crossed my mind until I had them and it started happening to us (if you have kids, it will happen to you) its just life. We dont think about that when we're young and getting married and starting a family. Its just something that you have to learn as you go. Its gonna be a grind, gotta have some hope. Thank you all. BF
  12. Good info. Im in the market for a new one as well. Can someone give me the name of a vice that holds the hook. Ive had three in total and not one of them holds a hook solidly in place. My current vice is a dynaking I've also got a renzetti and an anvil. doesnt matter what hook I use, it moves in the vice. After years of tying I just assumed all vices where like this to a point.
  13. Ive found over the years that no matter what foam pattern I fish, it lands upside down now and then.
  14. Hey, He's at home now but, does have a blood clot on is brain they aren't exactly sure why. Wednesday he hit his head on a soccer goal post. No symptoms until 26.5 hrs later, he went from 0-1000 in less than 2 minutes. This time frame has drs puzzled. So they did an MRI to look for anything else, none of which could be good. Waiting for that was the worst day or so of my life! period! The MRI didn't show anything extra, just the clot that is definitely there. He's being treated by a neurologist and a brain injury dr as they're just not sure but, think coincidentally that the headshot has something to do with it. the next 6 weeks will tell the story, we've got some specialist appointments and people to go see and follow up with. Hoping they re-image him in 6 weeks, I would like to know whats going inside his skull! He can't hit his head in this time or do anything that can could lead to it. So we'll just feel our way through the next few weeks and hope it all goes well. He sonly had one headache since it all went down, that was 2 days ago, before they let him come home. Thanks everyone, its been a grind and I'm sure will continue to be until this whole thing gets resolved. I know I've offended people around here, it still stands, Im still sorry. Jayhad, the ugly comment was just stupid and childish, I felt like an ***hole after that! I am sorry.
  15. 4 kids, I've seen a lot of kid stuff. This aint like that, this fear is unlike any other I've experienced. They aren't sure why this things there so they're going to do an MRI now. I know its good to know but, this is not a good situation. Sorry for the buzz kill. Im at home doing laundry to take back up to the hospital, my wife hasn't come home yet and to be honest I'm losing it right now. doing this is helping not put things through my living room window sorry if I've seriously offended anyone, i really mean that.
  16. Been in the hospital with my 6 year old son since Friday morning. We went for a bike ride thursady night, he took his helmut off and was delirious in pain and throwing up with in 2 minutes and in the hospital within hrs. Yesterday the neurologist ruled and aneurism (thank god), that was some massive relief, that said he does a have clot on the back of his brain wtf going on here?? all of a sudden life just goes the other way! Apparently this will be a bit of a process. Its hard to see your kid like that, its harder to hear that there is something wrong with him or her, %$!!!!!! Everythings changed, the new focus will be his brain and making sure its okay, Nothing else matters.
  17. Wow man, really glad you where able to forget about life for awhile. Im a chrones (ulcerative colitis) guy as well, I've lost 60 lbs in the last 2.5 years and i consider myself lucky because haven't had and plumbing removed yet! A good friend of mine just had her anus sewed shut its really awful. That said it takes every aspect of your life over because you feel like *hit on a regular basis. People just dont understand. Ive had 6 colonoscopys in the last 4 years, I've refused to do the last two because of how much it hurts at this point. I swear to god they left something in there last time Not many days go by, where you dont feel bad enough to worry about it! this escape was awesome for you!!! Anyways buddy, real glad you and your wife where able to get out and do this, you've got great friends. Great to dave for hooking you guys up.
  18. Super awesome shots!!!! You look to be doing things right!!!
