  1. maybe its just you. its a small world out there.
  2. Thanks man To be honest, Ive never ordered anything online lol I like to see and handle what I'm buying. Everyone does it different though I always just drive to the shop (fish tales) and buy what I need. With all the stores in Calgary, you can pretty much find everything. Same thing with flies, I cant even remember the last time I bought a fly in the store and used it. I tie everything
  3. Got this Glenn Zinkus pattern out of a magazine this week. Not exact, but pretty close. Im happy with the tie. I made the body a little fatter than the original. That way you also get that stoney look. Double dip yo!!!
  4. not even a tfo guy, I just think I'm smarter than i used to be. it really is a good rod though.
  5. theres a reason why so many people have and like them, just saying
  6. Soft hackles. See "liesenrings lift" it works and it's deadly.
  7. This is old but yes, soft hackles are deadly .
  8. we where swinging a soft hackle last night, was def some top water debris/weeds floating. was prolly one of the most active I've veer seen the bow river. it was awesome. Just saying.
  9. Sorry Junkie. I didnt mean to start a fight, was just trying to give you some insight when buying your next twig. With the amount of elite people on this site its really hard to have a serious conversation without someone being a jerk. Sorry man. I wont comment on this thread anymore.
  10. dont i always Buy a rod and you will catch fish and love your rod, yup thats what i said alright.
  11. I started fishing on a sage sp 6w. I have a Sage 8w FLI, G Loomis Streamdance 6w (great rod at not a great price), 4w GLX, had a sage one 6w (that i sold) I have casted expensive and less expensive rods. Ive casted them all and now my go to rod is a BVK, its a killer rod and it cost less than half of what the name brand rods cost. I also have a lefty kreh sig. series 5w that is like a 6W that I bought a TU auction, I only bought it to spend money (Dumb). Way to beefy for me, I gave it to my nephew A few years back i had a gift certificate for 400 and ended up walking out with that BVK 5W. It was hard, I used to be one of those guys that wouldn't fish a temple fork because its a temple fork. Now Im one of those fools that fishes a temple fork.
  12. What a shitty attitude man. Not everyone can or wants to afford a $600-1000$ twig. Shitting on people that appear to not have money is really weak. Im a humanitarian. IMO, you all have a chance to be good people. Your comment is so ignorant that its hard to digest. People shop at these stores because they have to or want to. If I started flyfishing today, I may have had to. Thank god theres a price range for people that aren't you and well, people like uberfly. Not to mention they don't sell much fly fishing stuff. Just for clarification, I dont feed the walmart machine, they running *hit! I'll bet you and uber both shop there. You guys just saw an opportunity to *hit on someone and you did. nice work fellas!! you guys are awesome lol!!!
  13. My go to 5W/rod is a Temple Fork BVK. I have a couple G Loomis rods (4w and 6w) and a couple of Sage (6w and 8w) rods as well. You can get a BVK for less than half what you would pay for another NAME. I fished enough rods and over enough time to realize that no matter what rod you buy. You're going to go out and catch fish and have fun and love your rod. Maybe save some money for gas and food and flies Im not pushing brand name, Im pushing price. in the grand scheme of things you'll love your rod regardless. I have both high and low price range rods and name brands. my go to is my 5w BVK unless I'm fishing the Bow with nymphs or streamers. then its a 6w StreamDance. if I didnt already have it, I would never buy it today. It cost almost triple the BVK No matter what rod you buy, you're gonna brake it eventually and be without it and have to pay to get it fixed or replaced. Thats always time consuming and expensive as well, depending on the NAME you buy. You could buy 2 really god rods for the price of 1 really good rod, just saying. Having back up is good. TRUST ME DUDE, YOU DO NOT NEED TO SPEND AN EXTRA 5-600 TO HAVE A NAME ON YOUR ROD. Unless its your own name and its a custom rod. I would spend the money but, only for a Bamboo at this point. FISH CANT READ YOUR ROD AND DONT CARE HOW MUCH YOU SPEND if you can cast, you can cast any rod. If I could start over again. I would save money for fly tying material and gas and food and knowledge. Time on the water is everything.
  14. Im a self taught hack and IMO, nymph fishing is by far the most PRODUCTIVE. May not be the most satisfying. That said, at the end of your drift when your line tightens up downstream and your flies slowly rise because of line tension and water movement, which is what they do while hatching. Lots of hits at the end of the drift or while picking your line out of the water to cast again. Check out "Liesenrings Lift" (see spelling) it works!!!!!! Stripping a Bugger sounds like a good plan to me, just saying IMO nothing better than a fishing slamming a streamer other than watching one take a dry off the surface or watching and feeling that strike indy go down because you have the perfect drift happening. lets just face it, fly fishing rules!!!! it just does 7 sounds like a pretty good day. if i where you I would keep doing everything "NOT correct" lol!!!! Feel and everything just comes with time on the water man. Keep at it, its love. Thats why we do it thats why i do it
  15. I saw much bigger ones than this in there. That said theres big burbs and huge carp in there as well.
  16. I wouldn't call them in of they are friends. Tell them whats up and if they willingly do it again, callem in. Tough spot. Ive been there with my best friends, sisters, boyfriend lol!! They dont talk to me about fishing and or show me their pics anymore.
  17. Definitely dont over water. The roots will stay shallow if its always wet. You want the plant to go down to find water, strengthens your lawn and will aid in it thickening as well. Your lawn is new, you want good strong root development.
