  1. I've got a William Joseph Equinox and I love it. I'm like you I carry everything with me including the kitchen sink. It works great and has a pouch big enough for some water and a stream side snack/lunch.
  2. Oh man PETA would have a gong show going on in that place. I'm sure they've already made their mark with Bass Pro Shops some where. I may be concerned about the tank but I wouldn't sick PETA on my worst enemy.
  3. OH man I'm in tears! That's freaking hilarious!
  4. Oh great, one more thing to have in/on my vest. One guy said I look like I have more gear than NASA.
  5. Wow! I just went through my pictures and last year on the long weekend I was fishing Bear. Caught a lot as well. I'm surprised there is still ice. Perhaps global cooling has kept the ice there?
  6. Thanks guys. Hey jksnijders I'm jealous, I've always wanted to catch a sturgeon. Some day I guess.
  7. That's exactly the fish I saw and there a couple more in there but not as bad but still beat up the same way. That picture says a thousand words.
  8. Well I called. The explanation: "The pike in the tank likes to take a swipe here and there at the trout. That's what happens in nature so that's what happens in the tank to reflect nature and the local fish. That's how it is in the local rivers and lakes so we what to reflect the natural settings. So it's ok." Hmm...natural settings have much more opportunities for the fish to escape as well as more natural and abundant features for fish to survive (cover, structure, etc.) and not to mention a tank IS NOT NATURAL. I didn't speak directly with the tank overseer but I did leave my name and number. I completely understand having a display if the fish are well taken care as well as their wellbeing but I fail to see the logic in comparing a tank with natural setting. It's like putting a cat in a room full of mice. Sure it's natural for the cat to catch the mice but is it fair for the mice? Eventually all the mice will be eaten. If they were in their natural settings I'm sure some if not most would get away. I'm a bit taken aback, this just does not sit well with me.
  9. No but that's a good idea. I tried talking to someone last night but it seems no one really has it together out there. I think I will call.
  10. Would a float tube work for pike fishing? Just wondering how difficult it may be to land a large pike on a float tube. Or perhaps would you go for one heck of a ride?
  11. So I was in Bass Pro Shops last night and noticed a few of the trout with LARGE gashes/gouges/whatever you want to call them but you could see bare flesh and blood. These fish looked in TERRIBLE condition. I'm not sure where they came from but it seems to me there are not being well taken care of. Or perhaps the pike swimming amongst them took a chunk out of them? Bottomline is this dosen't sit well with me. Am I off my rocker being concerned about this? I don't think so but why is this ok?
  12. I've narrowed my selection for a dSLR down to two Canon models. The Rebel XSi and the 40D. Any thoughts of which one to go with? Thanks in advance for your feedback and recommendations.
  13. What do you call a fish with no eye? Fsh.
  14. Less is more!
  15. I NEED that lure! It's what Blinky would eat.
  16. AGREED! I've gots myself a 2 weight, never caught no perch on a fly rod before. That would be fun.
  17. SWEET! I've got the scotch, you bring the chocolate cake. I'll meet you on the river. Don't forget your life jacket - we may just stumble in after a few on the rocks.
  18. Is the cake chocolate? Could use some while I am entertained by this thread. I sinlge malt scotch 18 years would go nicely too. Mmmm...scotch.

    Fall Bulls

DAMN! Sweet pics. Great job guys.
  21. I just went through this whole thred. Yikes! Just one question, how does a traditionalist access the river - horse or car? Inquiring minds want to know. I use a double nymph rig, tried the three setup and just get ridiculous knots. Spend more time dealing with those than fishing. If I figure out what's working I lose the second and just use one nypmh. With dries only 1, never really thought of using 2 but just might give that a go. Streamers it all depends but typically I use 1, at times 2. If it's legal, moral, and ethical have at it. I am certainly not the person to tell you you are wrong. If you choose to be traditionalist, elitist, whatever remember we all need to fool the fish - don't think for a minute the best rod, reel, or line in the world or the most traditional rod, reel, or line fools that fish, it's the technique, ability to read water, and fly presentation that does. No matter your stand on the issue we are all fishermen/women and we all use whatever technique we want as long as it is within the regs. Has anyone tried to cast a pickeral rig with a fly rod? Hmmm...
  22. Hooked yes....landed no. Only once while nymphing, 2 whities.
  23. Brown trout in the Highwood? I don't think so but good to hear you kept safe from those bears.
