He saw ya. I had a big bully chase down a cuttie I had on on Saturday and I tossed a few in front of him. Similar situation you were in. He humored it a couple of times but he could clearly see me. The experience I have with the bigger bullies in that situation is if they see you that's it, they are down. If they don't see you'll get them even if they miss a couple of times. I haven't had a bully give up when he hasn't seen me but as soon as they catch eye to me that's it.

I noticed today my bear spray has expired. Does this stuff actually expire? I really don't want to test it on an actual encouter. Perhaps I could mace myself and see what happens.

That reminds of a joke from my wife's cousin's kid: What kind of bee give milk? . . . . Boo bees! I know it's terrible.

I've read all of Jim McLennan's books, Barry Mitchell's FTR book, Match the Hatch, and a few others. I'm on the hunt for something new to read. Any suggestions?

Don't feel bad. Almost all of the books I have read from pros and seasoned vets talk about exactly what you are describing. Some days the fish just don't and won't cooperate, they are very selective and nothing but the real thing will do.

I headed down to Country Pleasures already this morning. They aren't that far from my work so I just snuck out for a 1/2 hour. They were out of Riversheds in my size. I put down a deposit and secured me a pair. These boots are awesome! And the service was outstanding. I'm glad I made the trip.

I've decided to get some new boots and it looks like they'll be Simms Rivershed. I can only find one Simms dealer in Calgary, Country Pleasures. Are there any others? I live in the north and Country Pleasures ain't in the north. Just saves me some gas if there is somewhere closer.

I've landed the odd pike on a 4 weight. They were smaller pike but it was no problem. A bigger rod for chucking bigger streamers. However if you are looking for the big guys a 7 or 8 weight would be a better choice. Sounds like you're targeting walleye so go for it!

I'm with RileyS on the evening scotch but would have to add Oban and Bruichladdich. As for cheaper or fishin' scotch I like Glenlivet and Glenfiddich.
