  1. I headed down to Country Pleasures already this morning. They aren't that far from my work so I just snuck out for a 1/2 hour. They were out of Riversheds in my size. I put down a deposit and secured me a pair. These boots are awesome! And the service was outstanding. I'm glad I made the trip.
  2. OK you both convinced me. I'll take a drive to CP today or tomorrow. Man I'm excited now.
  3. Dude beer is no good. Unless using it for beer butt chicken on the BBQ.
  4. I've decided to get some new boots and it looks like they'll be Simms Rivershed. I can only find one Simms dealer in Calgary, Country Pleasures. Are there any others? I live in the north and Country Pleasures ain't in the north. Just saves me some gas if there is somewhere closer.
  5. Thanks for the link. I love that website. I have the Pentax as well but was thinking of the Canon. From the review I'll stick with the Pentax as there will be no real benefit to the Canon. Sweet, finally a money saver.
  6. I've landed the odd pike on a 4 weight. They were smaller pike but it was no problem. A bigger rod for chucking bigger streamers. However if you are looking for the big guys a 7 or 8 weight would be a better choice. Sounds like you're targeting walleye so go for it!
  7. I'm with RileyS on the evening scotch but would have to add Oban and Bruichladdich. As for cheaper or fishin' scotch I like Glenlivet and Glenfiddich.
  8. Holy crap that's hot! We do indeed need rain.
  9. That's what I said.
  10. Kensington Wine Market $53.99.
  11. Are you sure it's not available? I saw that near my place as well, or at least something that looked like that. I have a bad memory but I do remember something with that kind of label. Not a vodka fan but perhaps I'll give it a go from your description.
  12. Love the fish porn. Olympia though? I prefer Old Milwaukee.
  13. LOVE IT!
  14. Rain would be nice, not just for the rivers but the farmers too. I work in agriculture and man it's been a tough go so far. Time will tell.
  15. Agreed. But the low levels I've already seen are what worries me. As I said though it was only a couple of streams. It looks like the Bow water sheds are looking alright. The streams I have seen that are lower than usual were on the Red Deer water shed now that I think about it.
  16. Yes. I found it at the liquor store by my place. I live in Coventry Hills. It is in the liquor store by the Blockbuster.
  17. I didn't want to hijack flyartist's thread any further but I found that scotch for any of you scotch lovers. I haven't tried it YET. http://www.thefattrout.com/onlymaltsstory.html
  18. Cool! I don't like Vodka, more of a Scotch guy. I found a Scotch that was distilled for Trout fishing. Can't remember the name though.
  19. Thanks headscan for the info. I was hoping it was just a slow and steady runoff rather than lack of snowpack. I can't remember the year but something similar happened like this year in the year I'm thinking of and put some pressure on the streams. As a result the fishing the following year was a bit slower due to the higher temps and lower levels. Fish were stressed and easily found the year of the lack of runoff, not to mention being over caught. I guess I'll have to be more aware of the levels and water temp this year and try to give the fish a break where necessary.
  20. I've been out to a couple of smaller water sheds and noticed the water level now is not much higher than it was late fall of last year. I've also noticed the streams haven't really blown out like they do in previous years, that is they didn't really "muddy" up and are quickly dropping in levels. Does this mean runoff is just really slow and steady rather than one big rush or there simply wasn't enough precipitation (snow and rain) for runoff to occur like previous years? Now these are just some streams I have observed, does anybody have amy other observations? I'm just concerned if levels are already low and runoff is done rather than slow and steady I shudder to think what will happen to some of the smaller creeks.
  21. I'm doing a week myself in August as long as weather and everything holds. Check the hatch chart on the home page of this website, that'll tell you what flies you need.
  22. Sounds like a great day. I too enjoy the little cutties.
