  1. if it's just a pinhole, just use the aquaseal, I've been doing that for years with no issue.
  2. awesome, thanks for sharing. Not part of the Wyoming Cutt slam, but go after Lahontans
  3. I also have a Outcast 9' boat. They're sold locally so getting replacement bladders and stuff is easy. I really, really wanted a Dave Scadden boat, but if I had trouble with it, it would of been difficult to deal with someone out of the States and getting parts may have taken longer than getting a Outcast, so got the Outcast. No problems with it.
  4. I supported WSS, but I think the Edm market may have been oversaturated. We have/had Army and Navy Cabelas Campers Village Canadian Tire M.E.C The Fishing Center The Fishin Hole WSS + as others have said, the on-line shopping prolly took a bite out of each of the above retailers. We've lost the Fishing Center and with the closing of WSS, you would think it would mean more market share between the remaining, but alas, Bass Pro is coming to town. I hope the Fishin Hole can survive. I've been going there since I was a kid.
  5. I always supported WSS and the Fishin Hole. I avoided buying stuff from Cabelas, as they were too pricey and too far from my home. When I started fly-fishing in 2002, I made trips to WSS North Side what seemed like every few days. Mike was always helpful. When the SS store opened up I started going there and got to know Rob C. Hope those hundreds of people can quickly find other work. With the new BPS opening soon, it surely would of taken another bite out of WSS sales. Looks like I'll be doing all of my shopping at the Hole
  6. I don't want to knock the boat. He's obviously put in a lot of resources to build it. Kudos to him, nice to see a local product. The hydrodynamic properties and the stand up option are selling points for sure, but one can buy a PT boat with a 'stand up feature' for much less $$$. And as Joe has said, the "on the spot' maneuverability of a PT boat just can't be beat (except maybe by float tube). My brother and I can pack our 2 - 9' pontoon boats into his Toyota Corolla.
  7. This happened at Maligne Lake in Jasper, Now I've been to Maligne a few times, and I'm ready to launch but some guy is packing/unpacking his boat at the launch preventing anyone else from launching (narrow launch), I got po'd after having driven 5 hrs and now having to wait for buddy guy, so I carefully backed alongside him. He was eyeballin' me pretty good/givin me the evil eye, to make sure I didn't scratch his truck. I launched and was in/out and on the water fishing and he was still blocking the launch. :$*%&:
  8. True story. Musta blown in from someone/somewhere in the cul-de-sac. To answer some questions. No, I didn't smoke it, sell it, give it away or put it in brownies.... Don A is trading me a bamboo rod for it though , j/k cops came, took statement from wife and hauled the contraband away.
  9. I've never used any 'patches' as they've always just been 'pinholes' and so I've used both the Loon PT boat repair or the Aquaseal for my boats. Have never had any issues.
  10. ^ the Sage speaks, and he speaks 'wisely'
  11. My Cousin is a beekeeper and has told me before soap/water does the trick.
  12. Good read Tex.. I had a somewhat, though much less serious situation happen to me. I'm right handed and I got a barbed (shhhhh !!) pumpkinhead embedded in the top of my right hand on the Forward cast once, When I looked at it, it was kinda surreal, no real pain, just some discomfort, but like you, I was miles away from somewhere, and do I leave to seek medical attention. Nah ! I'll try pulling it out myself. I couldn’t pull it out due to the barb so I had to push the point up through the skin and then debarb, then push it back down through the skin and was then able to pull the fly out of my hand. It was tough to do all this with only my left hand. There was more pain trying to pull the fly out, than the fly goin in. I think the trout must feel the same way.
  13. If hangin flies under an indi doesn't work, try pulling streamers..
  14. I've fished for tigers in Saskatchewan at a few different lakes. I've read that they can be aggressive, but honestly, I haven't experienced that. If anything, I think quite the opposite (they're partly browns as you know) so they can be wary/finicky. The ones I've caught have all been caught by stripping in streamers on a sink-tip or full sink. Others have been successful hanging flies under an indicator, but I haven't tried this as I don't care too much for the method. I would say fish for them the same way you would fish for any other trout, be it, browns, rainbows or brookies. Hope that helps, Best of luck.
  15. I did get a chance to fish with my father quite alot, and even with my grandfather, though I don't remember much, just that I did. I know how you feel, last summer my son caught his 1st ever fish. and this year.
