It's actually pretty good stuff. The single malt is a lowland and I'm betting Glenkinchie. A couple of us polished off a bottle after a Golden Trout hike last year...for some reason we weren't up at 5 am for the next hike.
-
For hooks, I like the red Gammy octopus hooks.

A little bit of rum has made us all do some wonderful things in our lifetimes...I'm sure I have many more to come I have actually put some serious thought into putting some scuba equipment on and taking a dip at Bullshead. Want to see how they're inspecting chronie patterns, feeding, etc. My only concern is that with all the lines in the water there, I would turn into a huge pin cushion...but oh the stories the fisherman would have.
-
Stupid thing is...I can see me doing that...(with a lot of rum)

So, what did everyone get? The girls bought me a SPOT...sure beats a tie and black socks. Think it was more for their piece of mind than mine since I spend most of my time fishing alone.

OK, giving coordinates to some mosquito invested stream in saskabush aint being a smartass I've fished it, and the masses can have it...8lb browns and all. Don't think I'll ever be back there again in +35 C heat in mid July. Lets see the coordinates for those streams that contain pure genetic cutties, up to 20'' and are only a 5 min walk from a parking spot. Don't you have any of those in your back yard. And for being a red neck old timer, you're pretty good with the internet short hand (IMNSHO...WTHTM)....(Whatever The Hell That Means )

One of those guys who's used them all. Have stuck with the SA lines right now. Actually like the head start, and will probably buy another for my z-axis as a chrony line.

As usual...good stuff. Keep 'em coming.

Wow, don't know where to jump in. Getting one of these lakes started is not the toughest thing to do. It takes time, people, but most importantly relationships. First get some backing behind you (ie. fly fishing clubs, fish and game, etc), and then approach fisheries in your area. I just met with Terry this past April to discuss the Delayed Harvest ideas, and he was more than on board with the philosophy (my perception). The only reason another one didn't get established south of Brooks is that we could not find a suitable lake (I agree in the balance between delayed harvest, catch and release and catch and gobble...as someone so nicely coined it). It seems the gov't is willing (at least in my area) and the people are willing, it just needs someone to get it going. Now the reason why one isn't established in Calgary area, is that there may not be a suitable choice (ie. park lakes are a no no). Some of the other more dedicated stillwater fishers are involved in private lakes (I would be too if I lived close enough). I know that when the regs for Bullshead were up for review a few years ago, we had great support from the Calgary guys who wrote letters and even drove down to attend the meeting. Attending the round table meetings is not always the easiest for people (apathy is a huge part too...we finally ran one in Medicine Hat this year and 4 people showed up...all from our fly club). When I first started attending them in Lethbridge, it did seem a little like an 'old boys club' where the same people were invited over and over. Didn't even really know about them before, but don't miss one now.

vrbo.com is good, but stay on the strip...so much happening there. -
4 stroke I believe.

Mark's Marine...it's the 5 HP Nissan with tank. Give him a call if interested.
-
It's being sold on consignment at a boat store in Medicine Hat..starting price is $1000

I have a 1232 Crestliner that I use at bullshead all the time. I have two swivel seats bolted to the benches (wood with marine paint in between). One on each bench and they offset each to balance weight when two people are in boat. Have also laid some matting on the floor to flatten it out and to soften the sound. Not set up for rowing, but use with an electric or gas motor. I have a little 5 hp, basically new motor that I haven't used in two years. Looking to sell if anyone's interested. Love the boat...the low sides is one of the bonuses. I can lean over and release a fish with ease while keeping it in the water at all times.
-
Awesome stuff...glad to see you were able to hook up this time.
-
Love the foam slit ones and own about 3 C&F design boxes. Don't buy them anymore as the other companies are coming out with their own now for 1/3 of the price.

Check out the Wind Warrior that Whistler recomended. 11' 6wt, and around $280. They're also a sight sponsor, so worth the look.

Reporting F&w Employee Behavior?
bloom replied to reevesr1's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Media not the first option. Do a search on the internet for contact info, or simply call the report a poacher line and ask them for info. CO's do a lot of good work around here. Don't want a black mark for the whole group beacause of a POSSIBLE couple idiots (there's always the chance they were'nt CO's) Definatley make the call though. -

Fishing With Children Advice?
bloom replied to gustuphson's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Most been said, but here's the priorities: -Lots of fish/action...doesn't matter size or species. If it might be slower action, take them out in a boat. -SNACKS! Something like stopping at Tim Hortons on the way to pick up timbits, fruit snacks on the water, ect. -No rod for you. When I take my two girls out, there's one rod between the three of us. -Dip net is a good idea. My girls love playing with the throat pump. They like squirting water in it, but are also really excited to see what the fish was eating. -
Run your line through you indicator once, and then do it again. Add the toothpick if need be. I always do this as I use straight tippet and the indicators use to slide too much due to the small diameter.

Recession-how Will It Effect Your Fishing Plans ?
bloom replied to McLeod's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Won't affect me...the only thing that affects me is time, and I have all of July and August off Plans are... Lake fishing in the Kamloops area Lake fishing in Sk and Mb Bow, and Crow SE BC 2x Montana 2x Golden Trout SE Ab streams at least a couple of times. Police Outpost Lakes at Palmer's ranch K lakes in May (Forgot to add Steelheading in 3 weeks in BC) ...and then a whack of trips on the lakes around my area. -
We could use it as an ice breaker at Bullshead this weekend..no better way to break in a new drift boat than breaking up the 15'' of ice out there. You row, I'll drink beer.
