Whats In Your Cd Player?
bloom replied to SanJuanWorm's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Ipod all the way...plug it into your aux jack, or if your avalanche doesn't have one (like mine) get a Monster adapter that you pluck into your cigarette lighter. Just a few... U2 (joshua tree...probably the best album ever...the wall a close second) Hip Pogues Sex Pistols Spirit of the West Gn'R (sympathy for the devil...probably the best song ever) Van Morrison Bob Dylan Bare naked ladies Ozzy Smashing Pumpkins -
Was out today and the shallows by the boat dock where thick with minnows. Hauled some weeds up on my anchor and the whole weed clump was 'moving'...covered with the small shrimp (most i've seen all year) I caught a larger fish today (~18-19'') and it sure faught poorley. Another guy there said the same thing happend to him on his larger one. Like Rusty said, the C&R pressure on the fish could be paying it's toll. All the fish from 17'' down fought really well and were just nailing the boatman. Still wasn't able to get away from the boat dock area though and I'd like to see how the fish behave on the other side of the lake. Guess I'll have to charge up the battery and head out again next Sunday

I think there's definitely a disadvantage to longer rods, and that's weight. I have a 10' 3wt I use on the Crow in the winter time and that extra foot of graphite at the tip weighs a lot more than you think. If you plan on high sticking all day, you should try and borrow a buddy's for the day. My other minor problem is that with my 6 wt's, I like to leave them strung up in a case, and I can't find a case that will hold a 9'6'' strung up. Sage makes some nice 9' 6'' and 10' rods
-
That wildberry is actually a real good reel...pleasantly surprised. Starting to think the 3/4 weight isn't cutting though. When she gets anything over 16'' on, that poor little 6' rod just bends right over. Can't believe how good she is as letting the fish run and manuvering them around the boat. Could get a little scary if she every hooked up with someting over 20'' though on that little rod (her best right now is 18'') Thinking hunting would be great with the kids...so much more down time than fishing at BH...sometimes it just gets too crazy out there.
-
I haven't caught many 20'' this year (maybe 3?), but I"ve been staying around the boat dock with my daughters haveing a blast with the little ones most days (yah, the trips are around 13'' already and fight pretty good) I still think the 20'' are in there, but they're just tougher to catch, and they're definately not in the numbers they use to be. Will hopefully head out this Sunday, and if the girls let me sneak out without them, I'll get away from boat dock and look for some big guys.

Nice stuff...day to remember for sure. (ps. the part I find the most sad/disapointing of all this is that Tako hasn't clued in yet on who he's representing every time he posts immature comments...and you can never keep your job out of it...that's who you represent 24/7, especially in your line of work and on a fishing board...pr is always important...that's why some of us don't start flamming people left, right and center)

Should be fun...couple concerns though: -As this grows, I see the logistics getting crazy. Why not focus on the fun and honor code. For example, run it as a 'one fly' competition. You get one (or 2) flies for the day, when it's gone, you're done. Make sure you pick the right fly (there's actually lots of strategy to this). You got limited hours to fish, and you can walk and wade, or float if you want. All results are based on the honour code. There is a competition done like this on the Bow (or use to be) and it was a great fundraiser. There were never any concerns with people cheating as everyone was there for a good time and to raise some money. Add a social in the evening (silent acution), presentations, etc. Simpler the better is how I see it, with a focus on fun and the social after.

I know they're a discontinued reel, but I can get a good price on a relatively new one. It's an MZ2 and looking to put it on a 6wt z-axis. I know some of you use bauers here...what are your thoughts on the MZ2?

Quality Lake Fisheries Survey
bloom replied to DonAndersen's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Nice to see that letters, round table discussions, and other avenues are keeping these lakes at the forefront of management. Glad this never turned out to a 'one and done' idea. Fill out the survey as data is a great piece of equipment to have when looking at the viability of these lakes. -
Thanks...you've guys just made it tougher now. Too many good reels out there, and I know that whichever I pick, it will be more than suitable. I just seem to go in phases with reels, and I'm looking at trying something different...which leads me back to sage, nautilus and danilesson. Likely getting it at Fishtales, so it's probably sage 3300D or danielsson cause I don't think they carry nautilus or Hatch.

Well, I made a few extra bucks this summer and the wife put the idea in my head about buying a 'new rod or something'. The rod will be for lakes and chironomiding, and the z-axis seems like a no brainer to me...it's just down to the reel now. Looking at matching it up with a sage reel (2560), just to try something different (green reel, green rod, same companies, etc). Heard some good stuff on the reel, but also saw a couple rough reviews and heard that they are being discontinued. Already own Hardy, Ross, Loop, Danielson, SA, Islander and I like them all. New evotec or Islander would likely be my choice if I don't go with the sage. So, any reviews on the sage reels, specifically the 2500 series? (3300D seems a bit heavy)

I remember with the boating licenses were first coming out and I had this discussion on the bailing buckets with a pontoon. The poor guy wouldn't bend, or even see my side on the uselessness of a bailing bucket. Kept saying that it was mandatory and an important safety device for me.

Thanks for the offer FNG. Will be in touch as I need all the feedback I can get right now....seems like I have two good options. Sorry Jonny, but I already have two big trucks...that's why I need the little car.
-
I have the software...same as you (Olympus Master). Just don't see any button or pull down menu on the software that allows me to erase the pics? It's strange.
-
So I'm looking at buying a new car for the wife (and family trips on the Hwy). I've narrowed it down to these two choices. What are your thoughts. Both are great cars and have great ratings, fuel effic., resale, etc. Civic looks a little more classy, but Corolla is cheaper by a few thousand. Done the research, but what are your thoughts.

Never seen this on the softwear. Where abouts is it?
-
Only seen Bulls rising once for dries, and that was on the Wigwam. Have got some nice ones on dries (16-20'') on dries in other creeks in the South, but that's a rarity.

Awesome, thanks guys

So, after I download all the pics, is there anyway to delete all the pictures off the camera at once? Right now, I'm doing it one at a time on the camera but there has to be a quicker way.

Pet Friendly Accomodation In Victoria Bc
bloom replied to AlpineJames's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I believe the super 8 does. -
I'm a firm believer in that Bert was just going with the 'hockey mentality' at the time, and the one he was raised with. I feel that over 20% of the players in the league would have gone after Moore and given him a cheap shot in retaliation and Bert just got 'unlucky'. Too much focus on the outcome (and vilifying Bert for it) than looking at the symptoms and realising that what he did is what he was taught to do and that so many others would have done something similar. Also not sure why Sutter is a God in Calgary. He's my least favourite Flame, GM and would like the team a whole lot more if he is gone.

New Video From The Humblefisherman
bloom replied to humblefisherman's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Great stuff as usual...that's a gorgeous lake -
I've had boobies in my box for over 5 years, and can count the number of fish on one hand that I've caught with them. Now I can't really blame the fly that much either as I rarely use them. I've just never seen them outfish anything else I'm using, and I'm also more into the indicator fishing the last few years. (the only time I have seen boobies to be really effective is in those BC lakes with marl bottoms where you just cast it out with a high D line, and then give it a twitch when a fish cruises by) Seen the blob around the net, but have yet to tie one up and fish it...again, would have to take that damn bobber off my line to give it a shot and I'm just too lazy

Nice pics...BH was great today...had the girls out in the boat for a few hours and they outfished everyone around them Caddis are out and about in FULL FORCE!
