  1. when I was a teen, we used to always take one for lunch, on the start of trout season. "bonk a brookie, stuff it with wild garlic, butter wrapp it in foil with 7-8 fiddle heads and fried Puffball mushroom on the side mmmmmmm good was some of the best meals I ever had". I see nothing wrong with 1 or 2 young fish a season sacificed to my waist line. but on a whole with the damage done in the past. Most fish get a pass from me I remember the open of trout season on the Notty or Boyne it sseemed like you could walk accross the water on the backe of trout, and be sure to catch a couple all through the season. Now i was told not to waste my time going back there for fish. don't really know what i'm saying now just thinking of those stream side lunches back in Ontario, and drooling.... damn you pythagoras for bringing up shore lunches
  2. Just called Fishtales and they don't have them in yet. but expecting very soon.
  3. Thanks, it seems to be Ultamatly he he a good kid and has the help of a good program and councilors
  4. Got started fishing as a kid on the Notty and Boyne rivers in and around Alliston, ON. (this is chucking lures). the moved to Ottawa and discovered Pike, pickeral and muskie, spent 10 years chucking lures at that on the Ottawa, Rideau and Mississippi rivers. then moved and got a house as a grown up in Picton ON, bought a bass boat and fished for Bass, Gar, salmon, and walleye. then we decided to move to Alberta.sold the house in Waupoos on the lake, sold the boat, (sold GPS with way point for 3time the gps value). and moved to Calgary. we got to Calgary and my son 15 decided to rebel long story short he ran away for 6 months lived on the streets and accumulated the Habits found there. In January he entered a program and when he did I asked him what he wanted as a reward for working hard at getting his life together. answer was to start fishing with me again. so I started looking around for information on rivers as fishing here is much different than at home found the FFA site 2weeks before it shutdown and the found FFC, Talked to Cody about type of fishing he wanted to try and he told me about watching some guy fly fishing around Princes island park and how it looked. so after 6 months clean and 1 yr of school completed. we took our lessons at Fishtales, and have been out most weekends since. on my son he is completing his last course now 80% average and has received his pre-selection letter form the armed forces. looking to basic training in the fall. wants to go either Combat engineer or vehicle tech. and I think now we are closer than we have ever been that is how I got started Fly fishing, wasn't my father or a older mentor it was my son. Proud father Teck
  5. I think it was more so the better the devil you know syndrome, none of the parties really showed much promise or any true vision or plan for the future. again my .02 tight lines Teck
  6. Figured I would chime in on this, 1. I don't think this board increases the number of fishers on the river, anyone on this site finds it because thay looked for it, meaning they were already thinking of fishing the Bow. but I do think it has increased the number of flyfishers on the bow. when I found the site I was just looking for info on fishing in Alberta and around Calgary. it was the site that pushed me to flyfishing. 2. not publically, we shouldn't. I ask about rivers but don't look for specific locations, let face it if I wanted fish handed to me there are plenty of stores out there, only to happy to do it. I fish for the exploration, for the learning, and experience. If it was made easy chances are I would like it so much. 3. Yes we owe it to ourselves to foster a sense of care for our rivers and our sport on this site. and that is done here on the forum and on the river. a new angler is stugggling help him, needs a smoke lend it asks what they are hitting on tell them (espeacially if it is a bearded specticled dude in a Mossy Oak hat). Just my.02 Teck

  16. One for Rick A Texan buys a round of drinks for all in the bar because, he announces his wife has just produced "a typical Texas baby boy weighing 20 pounds." Congratulations shower him from all around, and many exclamations of "Wow!" are heard. A woman faints due to sympathy pains. Two weeks later, he returns to the bar. The bartender says, "Say, you're the father of the typical Texas baby that weighed 20 pounds at birth. How much does he weigh now?" The proud father answers, "Ten pounds." The bartender is puzzled, concerned. "Why? What happened? He already weighed 20 pounds at birth." The Texas father takes a slow swig from his long-neck Lone Star, wipes his lips on his shirtsleeve, leans into the bartender and proudly says, "Had him circumcised."
  17. all are good Jokes Rick I think Peter Tosh wrote a Regae song about yours "Shame and Scandal in da Family" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A bear walks into a bar and sits down. He bangs on the bar with his paw and demands a beer. The bartender approaches and says "we don't serve beer to bears in bars in Billings." The bear, becoming angry, demands again that he be served a beer. The bartender again tells him "WE don't serve beer to bears in bars in Billings". The bear, very angry now, says "if you don't serve me a beer, I'm going to eat that lady sitting at the end of the bar." The bartender, once again says " sorry, we don't serve beer to bears in bars in Billings." The bear goes to the end of the bar, and as promised, eats the woman. He comes back to his seat and again demands a beer. The bartender says "sorry, we don't serve beer to bears in bars in Billings Montana that are on drugs." The bear says I'm not on drugs. The bar tender says yes you are, that was a barbitchyouate ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A Scottish old-timer is in a bar, talking to a young man. "Lad, look out there to the field. Do ya see that fence? Look how well it's built. I built that fence stone by stone with me own two hands. I piled it for months. But do they call me McGreggor-the-Fence-Builder? Noooooooooo..." Then the old man gestures toward the bar. "Look there at the bar. Do ya see how smooth and just it is? I planed that surface down with me own achin' back. I carved that wood with me own hard labour for eight days. But do they call me McGreggor-the-Bar-Builder? Nooooooooooo..." Then the old man points out the window. "Eh, Laddy, look out to sea. Do ya see that pier that stretches out as far as the eye can see? I built that pier with the sweat off me back. I nailed it board by board. But do they call me McGreggor-the-Pier-Builder? Nooooooooooooo..." Then the old man looks around nervously, trying to make sure no one is paying attention. "But ya shag one sheep...!"
  18. see the best system i found is my P.O.S theft derrent system, cheap an you don't even need to set it. see how it works is you buy a Piece of *hit car that nobody, would want to steal any way, I used to have a 88 Ram that rarley locked the door on never had a problem with theft. on a serious note my old man uses the Boomerang II system. Basically it is a multiple gps locators stashed on your car (you are not even told where, only the installer knows) and a key fob if your car moves with out the key fob in it the monitoring office notifies police and tracks the car. my fathers Mercedes was located in 10 mins. 5 mins after the company told him it was stolen.

  20. yep i remember shoveling the drive way out for an hour, move what felt like 5 tonne of the *hit just to have the plow driver come by literally Laughing (the evil bastard) and plow the drive way back in. oh yeah miss that $hit
  21. cool but would be better if connected to a GPS. I Mean how mant gadgets can one carry while fishing to get away from the press of the modern world and all it's trappings. damn I'm starting to sound like Ted Kaczynski, BRB just need to go mail a letter
  22. used to own a 200 yr old farm house outside of Picton ON. great place right on the lake 10 acres and the previous owners never left. saw them 3 or 4 times and many odd happenings. In the morning(5:00am) I would often lose my keys only to go upstairs to steal my wifes. and when I got back down stairs they would be in the middle of the empty kitchen table. got to the point that I would just say thank you to Mrs. Wilson and go to work. Ran into Mr. Wilson once coming in from the summer kitchen while I was going out. freaked the $h!t out of me. needless to say I was a firm believer in ghosts after living there.
  23. Hey Sundance, i agree with you that this board is friendlier than others. but as to why I truly don't know. 1 possibilty is that flyfishing I find takes a little more patience, than other methods (and I chucked nothing but HW till last summer) , that this translates to the people involved with the site. also because most of us Fish the same river frequently and run into other members often, it takes alot of the the anonymity out of it so you watch what is being typed. lets face it you don't want to be having a chat on the river, and mention your name, the be told your the @55hole. or just devine intervention.
  24. Cool: back when i was a teenager in Ont. me and a buddy of mine were fishing around Gananoque in the 1000 islands. having a great day they were almost lining up to get caught. when all of a sudden 2 US fighter jets come screaming under the Hill Island bridge, way cool even though I lost my AC/DC ball cap from the wind created. I used to work doing meter repairs up in the Ottawa Valley, every week I would first search out my secluded lunch, then meditation (Nap time) spot. Just out side of Pembroke Ont. I found a perfect spot with a meadow and a nice little pond. I went there every day and parked ate then had a nap then back to work. On one day In the meadow, a deer came running out of the bush limping a little and started accross the meadow, then from the far side a wolf came out then they started apearing all around the meadow, needless to say I didn't have lunch alone that day. weird In October my Son and I took a trip to the Crowsnest, and taking I think Wongrs's advice I just parked at Leitch Collieries and sleep there. at around 12:30 am a truck pulls nose to nose with my van waking me. I'm thinking oh great it the police and I'm going to have to move along. then the truck drive to the other side of the lot. I'm awake and this looks odd so I Cody and I watch for a bit. about 5mins later a second truck comes from the east and parks beside the first they get out of their truck chat for a min then move 2 large boxes from 1 truck to the other. the truck from the east went back east and the truck from the west went back west, Cody and I looked at each other decided that it we didn't see anything.
