  1. Actually I was impressed that saddles and capes haven't gone up more with the recent fashion fads. More than happy with what I spent and what I got for it.
  2. Any reason we cant still have that auction and donate the money to something?
  3. Bought 300 bucks worth of dry fly hackle, paid 700.
  4. Used it 3 years ago and there was a sign right at the top of the ramp stating " This is not a public launch. For emergency vehicles only do not block ramp for any reason. Well been the upstanding citizen I am, I launched anyways. Never used it since as I don't need the grief when there so many other launches to use.
  5. Stauffers a pretty small creek and you can control your drift and the speed at which it sinks a lot better. On bigger rivers with more depth and current sure weight up as much as needed.
  6. Am with don on this one, Stauffers about been stealthy, getting into position and getting a good drift without spooking or lining the fish is key. Also use about 14 or 15 feet of leader and no indicator. Use the end of your fly line or even your leader as your indicator. Myself small on Stauffer is size 22 to 24. Don't use weighted flies use micro splitshot, maintain contact with your flies through out your drift and you should be golden.
  7. Try unweighted nymphs and grease your leader with fly floatant.
  8. I seem to recall about 20 years ago the Canadian Art Gallery bought a painting entitled "Tree" . Get this it was a totally red background with a blue stripe running up the center of it. They paid 7 million for it. So yes there is people stupid enough to pay that much for a painting.
  9. Coming form Red Deer to float, I don't find the shuttles to be that expensive really. Its piece of mind for me. I can launch my boat and enjoy my day with no worries about shuttling two vehicles and the time it takes. More time to do what I enjoy and thats been on the water not shuttling my own vehicles to save a few bucks. Doesn't save you much coin either in the long run. I would hope they do make a profit, its worth every penny to me.

    Only $3!

They look a lot like the flies the natives along the Amazon River in South america use. Anyways reminds me of lots of times on the river, when your having a great day. You've been using the same fly for hours and its working almost every cast. You look at your fly its tattered and torn material hanging off it. Doesn't even look like a fly anymore but hey it works like magic, finally you lose it in a tree. Tie on a brand new fly the exact same fly you where using and they wont touch it. Too funny, grab two rocks crush the fly up a bit. Ok looks a little like that last one.
  11. So true Hawg . I use to fish a place that was 20 minutes from Rocky Mt House that had brookies up to 6 pounds and lots of them. Couldn't believe how many people would drive right by that little one foot wide creek. Only took about a 10 minute walk to get to that beaver dam. Man what a little piece of paradise.
  12. Wicked video's Humble. Sorry bro was thinking about it and not my place to say anything about your vids other than there awesome and thanks for sharing.
  13. That fly should be on the cover of a magazine, that's some tying skills Doc.

    Great shots steve
  15. Man those cutties sure are pretty fish.
  16. I think all of us can sympathize with you. Losing flies at that price is a bummer. I don't fault you one bit for seeking a cheaper source. I tie my own flies and I can tell you its pretty pricey too. Let us know how it works out for you.
  17. Grats, thats a great looking brown.
  18. Thats a good idea birchy but what do you do about the cheap hooks. Very poor quality and tend to bend or break rather easy. Great for a little guy just learning the sport I guess but not much else.
  19. You pay for what you get and even at $3 a dozen these flies are probably overpriced, because the quality is so poor. You will be lucky to even hook one fish before they fall apart.
  20. Curious why you would say that , when the SJW is presented using the same fly fishing techniques as any other nymph.
  21. Nice to see some Red Deer River browns on here. Lots of big browns on the Red Deer will sit right beside a grassy bank and ambush dragonflies as they fly down the grass line. Ive seen 5 pound plus Browns do back flips 2 feet out of the water going after dragonflies.
  22. What a Awesome post. Best wishes to you and your lady.
