  1. No its nothing major. Just small chips in the gelcoat, nothing deep into the glass. Just makes sense to fix those for all the time it takes. Am used to rowing a 3 man pontoon, finding the driftboat much easier rowing and a lot more control for less effort.
  2. Thanks for the options guys. The chips are about the size of the end of a pencil , but there right on the bottom edge of the boat about 4 inches apart. Not in the habit of nicking rocks but sure would hate to knock a chunk of coating off if I do.
  3. Anyone know what kind of product you would use to fill in a few small chips in the coating of a 2008 hyde. Its a fiberglass boat , not sure what the coating is? Also I've heard you can get a coating put on the bottom of the boat? Any info greatly appreciated.
  4. The difference between a good nymph fisherman and a great one is usually one splitshot
  5. You sure that isn't a guy selling his ex-wifes gear, because thats a guys hand holding the gear in the pictures. oh wait I forgot this is 2011 could be 2 guys lol
  6. Well after doing an internet search it seems Calgary changed there school zones to 7:30 am to 5:00pm , so your ok its everyone else breaking the law no worries bro. Also some schools run year round in Calgary
  7. Have yourself a merry little Christmas and best of the new year to all.
  8. Good points you brought up Don. Seems strange for sure. If you really need something to remind you of school zone times you can get a sticker from any Police station. Its just a thin plastic film so it sticks to glass without leaving glue if you decide to move it.
  9. Awesome fly Wolfie. Where do you plan on using that ? Great job on your blog too.
  10. Heres a nice link to Vincents modified thorax hackle. Thorax hackle One thing I noticed missing from this description. Its important to have a small dubbing ball around the base of your wings to create shoulders to keep the hackle from abutting the wing base.
  11. Thanks weedy1. I've already talked to the Parks Alberta officer in charge of this area, he told me there's no problem using this launch and if anyone hassles me for it to just call the RCMP. Which kinda goes against my nature but guess its better than doing 25 to life. Ok joking sort of.
  12. What are you going to do beat me up. Stop your bullshit buddy. Coming on here and trying to scare people from using a public launch is lame. So you're right and 3 Government branches are wrong?
  13. Well for me not only will I tell you I'll gladly reach into my flybox and give you a few flys. Plus if I'm in a really good mood I'll give you my fishing spot and move on.
  14. I don't need someone to tell me the laws, for one thing I don't break the law not intentionally nor through ignorance. You quoted me so to me you were speaking to me. I have made the appropriate phone calls and yes it is the Markerville Natural area but as far a everyone is concerned the launch is gov't land and it is for public use. No one is going to write you a ticket for using this boat launch. I have been putting up with people ripping up the places I have been fishing all my life, with their quads, to the point where I can't even enjoy going out there any more. So I don't feel too bad backing up my truck 20 feet to a mud hole, to pick up my boat. This doesn't need to be discussed any further.
  15. I never said I was floating anything but that been said I've had very few problems with jet boaters myself. Sure I've had some zoom by me but whatever they got just as much right to be there as me. That's funny cause I sat and talked to 2 conservation officers after taking my boat out at RR 20 they never said one word about taking out there. Plus there's not one sign around that whole section of land that says no motorized vehicles. If it was posted I wouldn't be using it, it's that simple.
  16. Sounds about right to me 8 to 9 hour float. Take some nice streamers yellow has been great for me and my favorite Red Deer streamer is a black marabou leech. Big browns love them. Foresure you give up the numbers when you fish the Red Deer but the chance of hookiing that brown of a lifetime is pretty good on the right days.
  17. My god if that fish is seven inches thats the smallest fly rod I've ever seen. Nice brown cant even remember my first fish but I haven't stopped using a fly rod since than.
  18. Fantastic pictures , love those browns.
  19. Had pretty good luck fishing small flashback pheasant tail nymphs right in the surface film lately.
  20. Amazing how stupid some people will be to get on the news.
  21. Its quite possible that your going a little to far back with your rod tip on your backcast and your flies are ticking the rocks behind you.
