  1. Think your guys math is off.. I'd say 28. Nice fish either way.
  2. Mel Franklin with Calgary Bow River Shuttles (there's 3 'bow river shuttles' of assorted names)
  3. Most do... That's ok with me
  4. Pretty standard float times. I'd recommend Mac to Jansens if you're not wanting to row as much. Days are a lot shorter now. Really depends on your fishing technique
  5. Sounds very similar. Congrats
  6. Curious to see her, sounds like it could have been a relative to ours (through Humane Society?). Our mutt (Zym) was a rescue, who was apparently a 'shepherd' mix, but we never saw mom. If yours is older, did she have pups when she was brought in? Ours looks very labby, pitbull, boxer, and shepherd all at different times. She was the one of two white ones, rest of the pups were all brindle.
  7. Get an account somewhere like Photobucket. Upload photos there. Get the link for the photo from the site (should end with a .jpeg or similar). Copy and paste that link into the forum between [ img] and [ /img] tags (removing the spaces)
  8. Don't steal Zymoetz!
  9. My mutt is Zymoetz. Rivers always awesome names
  10. Ok, that's fine. But why give their equipment back, or not continue a ban on fishing for more then 6 months? Seems like that would have been good punishment that would not have cost them a dollar. I feel fines like these should really set a precedent for the general public to look at, and go 'well *hit, probably should think twice about poaching'. If they're so broke, guess they shouldn't be driving to the Oldman to go fishing. Plead the 'woe is me' card at court is BS. Would love to have seen their freezers... 29 fish doesn't seem like the work of first-timers
  11. $1000, give them their rods back and say no more fishing this year. What a joke. They'll just go places where it's harder to catch them. Shoulda kept their rods and given them a permanent ban, regardless of their background
  12. Too easy. Posted few years ago (in September) https://scontent-sea1-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/1936588_170182430728_3837251_n.jpg?efg=eyJpIjoidCJ9&oh=3399290096339cb4d7223398e503669d&oe=565E7AC9 Pot, meet kettle. I don't condone picking on bulls in September, but it doesn't mean I haven't done it in the past. Times change, and people learn.
  13. I swear some CO's require some basic law retraining. This is very much against the Public Lands Administration Regulation, under the Public Lands Act. They are within the bed of the river. Period. From section 43: 43 No person, other than an employee, agent or contractor of the Government of Alberta who is carrying out the person’s duties, shall enter on or occupy vacant public land that is a bed or shore of a permanent and naturally occurring body of water or a naturally occurring river, stream, watercourse or lake except (a) where the entry and occupation is for a recreational purpose that (i) involves boating, (ii) involves travel on frozen ground or on ice capable of holding the weight of the conveyance without making a depression on the ground or ice or breaking the ice, or (iii) does not involve the use of a wheeled or tracked conveyance I don't think everyone needs to be ticketed, but send out a CO with a warning book, and get it done. Also, why is Calgary Parks not putting up a sign indicating that is not a parking spot? This was brought up months ago.... Pinkster, what's your boss doing?
  14. Impressive, figured it was 'that pond' down south and east of town. Helps if you're a fish-monger!
  15. Think it's more showing what can be done in Alberta if our lakes were managed a bit better. Small stockings with lots of food. Private pond perks. It can be done, and has been in the past. People will remember the Bullshead of old..
  16. Ya not like he ticketed you and you had to fight it... Might not have got the memo
  17. The Patagonia dry backpacks are awesome, and have a padded carrying case for SLRs. They're air tight. I've carried mine steelheading in absolute deluge's with no issues
  18. US exchange hurts a lot on the repairs now, let alone that Sage decided to charge us an extra 25 to ship it back.
  19. I know what you mean Marc. I sort my bag and it ends up in a pile of *hit in about 30 seconds of fishing
  20. You guys must be doing a hell of a lot of digging. I've been running the same Patagonia sling since the day it came out, and haven't looked back. It's been up and down the trout creeks, to mexico and steelheading. Thing is awesome. I also only do up the one strap so I don't have to undo anything to swing it around. You'll never see me back to a vest or hip-pack (all of which I've owned).
  21. Few guys around town have them and like them
  22. Hope not, just based on the fact that if its true, they'll undoubtedly fill that bank with riprap again
  23. Curious what water there is to give? Transalta is pretty well running on water in=water out as they don't have much water upstream (don't think that Transalta has not been engaged by the guiding community). Don't forget that they need to hold water back so calgary can power their lights (and have drinking water..) for all of the winter as well... It's a shitty situation, but I'm pretty sure we'd be in the same spot with or without the dams in place, if not a lot worse... Also, to confirm, your worried about water levels for fish survival.. Or you just want to be able to go fishing again? Seems a lot of that is happening and people are forgetting that it should be for the fish first..
  24. people fish that section? haha my bad. totally glazed over it
