And should still be washing between trips, regardless of which set. Biggest thing is the mud that gets stuck on the bottom of wading boots. Lots of opportunity to transfer tubifex worms Also a learnt a couple new things, did you know if they check your boat on the highway and it has the plugs in (regardless if dry), you're getting a ticket

Was at a meeting with AEP that the city hosted earlier this week. So far, it's only been found in the Bow and Bow Drainage proper, and anywhere that could be suspectible should be tested by April. The current advice is to Clean, Drain and Dry all gear, particularly waders. They HIGHLY recommended that everyone should have a 'Bow river' pair of waders/boots/etc, and a pair for elsewhere so you're not transferring. Everything else should be washed thoroughly with extremely hot water (80-90C). I'll be setting a pair of waders and boots aside as my Bow River set, until further notice, at a minimum.

"Inside the buffer zone, provincial acquaculture facilities and Class A fish farms will have to test fish for whirling disease" Perhaps they should have been doing this already...? Im unsure about the requirements for testing, but this seems like something that should have been done consistently since WD first showed its head in the states 20 years ago

Man, that sounds heavy -
Figured they'd finally find the chromers down there.. they were picking on some seriously gross, falling apart, mid spawn fish for a few years That being said, chinooks on a fly rod are freaking phenomenal

Doing it at a carwash is always better then your driveway, as if you do have something, it's not going straight into the river http://aep.alberta.ca/recreation-public-use/boating/clean-drain-dry-your-boat.aspx

there has GOT to be a way that this doesn't get bumped to the top, everytime someone votes..right?

Good point. I guess I should have noted that I did not size down, it's just noticeable! Feel like if it was recommended to drop a line size, they'd have it separated out on the RIO site
-
I found that you can definitely feel it, particularly on casts that the head lays on the water for a little longer (say a snap-t, during the sweep). The line has enough sink to definitely add more load during that time. If you're just perry-poking or singles, then no difference. Similar to the different feeling between a weighted fly and unweighted. At minimum, you gotta get that cast off quicker before the line drops.

Ya they're pretty skookum for chinook fishing to break through the fast chop in higher water, and to keep the fly down... Also feel that they give you a better connection to the fly

Can you imagine the amount of a spill to get to 2.5% of an actual waterbody...

Whirling Disease Found Down By Mouth Of Highwood

Not surprised bout the Elbow, since it was in Lott Creek (hrmm...wonder where that came from..) Could they get multiple DNA samples, and be able to figure out the time and relationship between them (from my very limited genetics course)? I suspect its now everywhere in southern alberta, if it was in the Bow.. No way it's not being transferred by humans and animals by this point. -
Rob, I know you weren't... Pipes on the other hand.

I dont disagree with you when it comes to Caribou and development (though, dealing with the wolves and the wolves alone is not going to bring caribou back..there are a lot bigger issues at play). But if the end goal of wolf management is to make it so hunting is 'better', then where does that end? I'm all for hunting, but removing apex predators to make hunting better for people...nope. Seems pretty equivalent to the 'otters are ruining my fishing' argument to me.. If the last 30 years of wolves increasing is actually getting the elk/sheep/moose/whatever population back to a more appropriate equilibrium, at the cost of hunting, then so be it... Ya hunting was probably "better" 50 years ago, but was that due to an unnatural lack of predators that was originally caused by man the 50 years previous to that?

Better get those damn otters too while we're at it

So a daily occurrence is less impactful then a theoretical one?... -

The odds of it being in Banff, and Lott creek and not in the Bow in Calgary.. I'd say 1 in a million. Already in the Bow below Exshaw, no way it's not down here.. -

Outdoors,I also make sure it can drain (aka tilt back), so you don't fill the front with melt and then freeze... can trash a boat quick doing that
