It seems to have died.Its almost finished ,maybe restart it in the spring. I thought i would have plenty of time but it just didn't work out.I'm thinking same goes for others.

I believe Elk opened today,deer is Nov1.Most areas around here for deer is Thurs Fri sat only.You can check the hunter regs on line. If you want to start you'll need a couple of buddy's,start putting in for draws for big game usually mid June. Upland game has been dismal since we've had a couple of hard winters,however there are a few release sites in AB for pheasant. Migratory birds have always been good and easy to get some.Most landowners will let you on to set up decoys and a blind. As far as guns go a 30-06 is pretty popular for deer,12Ga shot gun that shoots steel shot is also the norm. I wish i had more time to go hunting, i always enjoyed being out there even in minus 20.I really miss pheasant hunting but with no dog and not that many birds I'll have to wait another year. Good luck in your new hobby. Edit: Some pics form the past. back about 6 years ago seemed like every road you drove you would find some wild birds. This one was a little to small.

I never had any luck elk hunting, tried it for many years.I was always in the wrong spot or there was always too many other hunters.The only time i saw a legal bull was when i had a cow moose tag and the only time i saw a cow moose was when i was elk hunting. Now i just go buy a couple hundred dollars of meat in November and call it good.I fish with the rest of the money i saved. I wish you guys good luck in filling your tags.

Straight float about 5-6 hrs even quicker if your floating the faster stuff all the time.You got lots of time if your on the water at sun up.But if you find fish every time you stop you just might find your self rowing down stream at the Highwood because you spent too much time fishing else where.Last float we tried to be at the Highwood by 4pm we floated by at 4:15 and we were off the water by 6 ish. Happy fishing.

When i use to toon the river i always had an anchor,i only used in the frog water or at shore or water that was at or less then knee deep.10lbs river anchor was good.Just don't tie a knot in the end of the rope in case you get into trouble.Also tie a good knot to it don't use one of those carabeaner(sp) type things.

Thanks guy's,I'll be trying some of them out.Its amazing when you time it just right how far you can cast with a 4wt rod.

I've been practicing a simple spey cast, not sure of the name.When I'm on river right i bring it up toward me do a D loop and roll cast it out.Works well on my single handed rods.I'm looking for a cast for when I'm on river left(I'm right handed).If someone could recommend the names of some i could then look them up on You Tube. This would be for casting a nymph rig.

Never had a problem with a normal clinch.I don't like the improved one as it leaves the tag end pointing forward and just catches more crap from the river. Like others 5-6 twists lube well and tighten by pulling the tag end. As far as line to tippet, double uni works for me 4 turns on each side.Real easy knot that can be tied by feel,works good at night.Same goes for the single uni for the fly.
