  1. Kind of late to chime in on this one but where do you find the actual net material? By the way those nets look awesome! Darryl
  2. You can take your tube down to the local tire shop and replace it with a rubber inner tube. You just stick the fill thingy out where the zipper meets up front and wala your floating. Dont let the tire guys convince you that they can move the filler so it fits back up in the pocket or you could find yourself kicking like a madman back to shore before you and all of your gear become lake structure.
  3. Hi all, was wondering about how long it would take to float from police to mac on the pontoons. trying to arrange something for monday but have to be off the water and loaded up by 7 or 7:30 at the latest. I have been before but it has been a couple years. Any help would be appreciated Darryl.
  4. Thanks JD.Thats always been th problem is the month lag time. Maybe I shouldnt be so lazy in the off season and give warantee a try. Would sure be nice to have a new set of waders for winter steelheadin! It may be a bit to late for me, but might be worth a shot.
  5. Hopefully Orvis has reinfoced thier seams a bit since I bought mine 5 years ago (Orvis guide I think). Within a year 1/2 a dozen leaks all on the inside seam. I have never tried to get warantee, just slathered more aquaseal on and go. I know 5 yrs on a set of waders is a long time, but I am a 20 trip per season guy and was hoping to get a little more life out of my $450 investment.
  6. I stole one on my wifes old winter jacket. The bags foldup lawnchairs come in sometimes have em. Look around your house there is probably some kicken around.
  7. I gotta agree with Headscan. Go with gortex. I have a freestone jacket and find that it doesnt breath very well. The one advantage to this jacket is that it folds up to almost nothing and is easy to pack. It will keep you dry for a short rain, but for a long shift it will leave you feeling cold and damp.
  8. Nope. The toque looks hardcore! That water looks cold too.
  9. Nice... er, fish Jack! Does that stripping apron hold you in a bit or is it the light elastic type tethers on it?
  10. Thanks for all the replies. You bet I am on a pontoon and love it, opens up all kinds of new fishing opportunities. As for the kids, well maybe when I upgrade the older one will be big enough for moving water and can have my old pontoon. This is more for lake stuff. The fishcat looks pretty cool. I want something that is going to last a while. Does it have some sort of seatbelt or T strap, or could a guy rig something up.
  11. Hi all, Been watching the board for a long time now but seldom post. First of all I'd like to say thanks to everyone for all of the information I have picked up on lurking around here. I really appreciate the fact you all are willing to share your knowledge and experience. This is my "go-to" website whenever I have some time to kill. I have two sons, one seven, one eleven. My older boy has been flyfishing for a few years now. When we hit the local ponds he has been using my old float tube but it's getting old and a bit tattered. The young gun figures he's ready to go this year, so i am in the market for a couple new belly boats. My old boat is the inner tube style and I feel pretty safe with putting a lifejacket and waders on my kid and turning him loose. I have been looking at some u tube style boats and am wondering how stable they are if you lean forward in one. Also do they sit you up higher and out of the water? If they do, I can see this being a bonus in the spring when the water is colder. Its not fun of with cold feet, let alone frozen berries. Any help or advice would be appreciated. Regards, Darryl
