  1. Maybe I've been missing many of the "get togethers", but I don't remember any prizes etc. at any of the one's I've attended... Even at the last river clean up (2 years ago) the only board sponsor that donated door prizes, etc. was Country Pleasures and the 2 other fly shops (and 1 angling shop that carries fly stuff) that donated weren't even sponsors of the board as were two of the "big box" stores that donated, as well (granted a few of the board sponsors weren't around back then)!! Just say'in!! P
  2. Rob, What does it say on the Coconut? P
  3. Having recently traveled to India, I'd much rather recover on a beach in Goa then with all the naked fat asses on "Wreck"! Plus the food and customer service were AMAZING - can't say that for Vancouver (consistantly, anyway)!!
  4. Kewl, need to brake in the new 8 wt rod and reel! Still waiting on some line to come in (maybe in today's mail?!). Will let you know! Cheers, P
  5. Rick, A good friend of mine from Idaho - I lived with her and her ex when I attended school there (she now lives in Golden, BC with her partner - who is originally from Austria). They are both professional Mtn guides (internationally renown)... Anyway, he had his hip replaced in India!! The exp. was unbelievable (from what he's mentioned)! All for CDN $7,000 (as he would have had to wait 3 years in BC to have it done locally and his legs are [obviously] his livelihood). He was even interviewed on CBC when they did a story on medical tourism. Anyway, the cost included consults with his canadian physician (x-rays other related diagnostics), travel, surgery, and recovery (on a beach resort with private nurse, private room which incld: high speed internet and sat TV and private kitchen - not sure he was able to enjoy the beach so much, however ) . I think the whole thing was 3 weeks. I can pass along his name and the link to his interview if you want... Obviously this can be a very controversial subject with pros & cons on either side (I'm not debating either, just providing info of someone I personally know that had a VERY positive exp.)... But knowing Tom (my friend's partner) I know for a fact that he has not embellished his exp. at all! *Edit* British trained surgeon, as well! P
  6. Bob, Not yet, but if you go, lemme know, I'll join you! Cheers, P
  7. Yeah I was going to do that, but it interfers with tying (in some circumstances, IMO). Plus I want to get some midge jaws. P
  8. I was wondering why all of the links were "broken"!! Thanks! P
  9. Yup (though the Guide is slightly longer)! SST = 454 g (16.03 oz) Guide = 606 g (21.4 oz)
  10. Will do! Thanks! P
  11. Neil, I have a bunch... Depends on the size of the cord you are using... Lemme know... P
  12. I want to reverse the jaws on my Model "A" (top is getting a little chewed up) and I'm not sure if the pin can be removed (unscrewed) or I have to cut it off and replace. I know you can replace the jaws with a smaller midge set, so it has to come off/out some how... Any advise? Thanks, Peter
  13. Damn those Protestant Scots to hell for inventing such polluting games and cultural celebrations (ie. Robbie Burns' Day & haggis)!!
  14. This statement is ignorant there is a reason the gangi [sic] river is so polluted , don't bring the same crap over here ! I never said that a few coconuts wasn't a problem! But blaming one particular ethnic/cultural/religious group is!! To be totally unbiased, go off on all the "young punks" that raft during the summer and lose their flip flops, pieces of styrofoam coolers, beer cans/bottles, lighters, underwear, bikini tops (and bottoms), slurpee straws & cups & lids, tampon applicators, condoms, as well as all the discarded bikes, wood, road signs, etc. Oh and I almost forgot, the pollution in the Bow has absolutely nothing to do with any of the other 1,000,000 + people of any other ethnic or cultural/religious backgrounds that drive the roads, fertilize their lawns and salt/sand their driveways & streets!!! Blaming one particular ethnic group or specific culture/religious group which may or may not be responsible for a few coconuts is ignorant and if you cannot see that then it's obvious that you are!! P
  15. There are many reasons why the Bow is polluted, and it doesn't have to do with anyone's religious beliefs or culture so please refrain from ignorant & offensive comments! P
  16. No worries, totally took it as a joke! I even laughed Cheers, P
  17. Taco, next time yer in town and if you can get beyond all the PETA lovers and hippy types at MEC I think they sell neoprene repair stuff... Depending on if it's a tear or hole, I'd use a bike (inner tube) patch and some aquaseal... P
  18. Essentially in a National Park you do pay a fee to hike (as well as every other activity, including golf and skiing)!! Don't be surprised if it happen one of these days provincially, as well! P
  19. Hire (Brian) Hawgstopper! P
  20. Lynn, My (twin) bro just ordered a bunch of rocks from Burnco and had mentioned that the service was AMAZING (they even called him from the truck to confirm the location outside his house the day of delivery). Delivery was within a day or 2... I think he mentioned ~$75 for delivery... I'm ordering some loam/compost from them this week... P
  21. Thanks everyone! Got out with Deb, tightline and Nomad today. Picked up a 23" birthday brownie along with a few others (after getting my free breakfast at Denny's this morning )!) Everyone ended up with at least 1 fish so it was a pretty good day, indeed! Cheers, P
  22. My 8'6" Sage LL 4 wt or Deb's 8'6" Beulah Guide Series 4 wt. If I only have 2 rods with me (usually my 5 wt & 6 wt) they my Redington CPX 5 wt works VERY well!! P
