Don't Fish Birchy's Run Or Else!!!
ÜberFly replied to bigbowtrout's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
If you were able to buy one and were that close to try, it would be WAY too close for my comfort!! P -
I guess I need to clarify my post... Buy he 'toon for yourself and give him your current tube! The 7 y/o gets the one he's using, etc. P

Need Breathable Wader Advice (waders For Amazons)
ÜberFly replied to Enigma's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I hope they sent them via USPS or you'll also be dinged for brokerage, duty & GST!! But if you got what you wanted then I guess my point is moot! P -
If it was me... I'd be buying a pontoon (if that's an option for you)! I mean why sit "in" the water and freeze your a$$ off when you can sit "on top" of the water and not!! P

Need Breathable Wader Advice (waders For Amazons)
ÜberFly replied to Enigma's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Shelly, Deb just ordered and received a pair of Patagonia's online as they are currently on sale for a killer deal - $180 (they will no longer be making women's waders)! With shipping/exchange it worked out to be just about $200 -which is not that bad (just make sure you have them send it USPS). The only thing is I don't think they have your size, but call them as the Reno location can try and find you a pair at one of the retail stores (they always hold back stock for their online orders is what they told me). Inseam is pretty accurate (just measure from "crotch" to the floor not toe), but be VERY careful of the foot sizing... The 6 - 8 foot size is a 7! In your size, I don't think you have to worry about that as it is only with the sm & med size. Deb had to go with a M/L to get the proper foot size and even though they are about an inch too long for her, she can move quite freely (even though she isn't of large stature - but has longer legs then I thought - almost the same inseam as me, she's about a 31 and I'm about a 32 even though she's 5'6"ish and I'm 5'10").... If you have any questions about the Patagonia's specifically, PM me. P -
Another Controversial Subject

Don't put them in the dryer as they will last longer (the collar points) if you hang them to dry. Doesn't matter about buttoning or unbuttoning them (from my exp.). Oh and buying quality shirts helps also... P -
Who's Done The Rockwall?
ÜberFly replied to ÜberFly's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Thanks! Yeah we are going in the N to SE direction, but didn't consider going in at Tumbling... As well we were intially planning on leaving via Numa Creek, but if we go in via Tumbling we could exit from Floe... Interesting!! Cheers, P -

Thanks Treeplanter, now that's the kind of info I was expecting!! Yes I have heard that both Floe Lake and Rockwall Pass are spectacular (and that Tumbling Creek campsite is less then desirable). The side trip up to Wolverine was also reco'd!! Cheers, P -

Lake Sundance Calgary Perch Netting 10 Am May 8
ÜberFly replied to a topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Actually, Lake Sundance would technically be considered it's own ecosystem (based on the definition of ecosystem - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ecosystem)... But the perch were introduced into that ecosystem... P -
LoL! I'm sure the AB Sheriff's would love to hire a French Maid Go-Go dancer!! Brian if you are interested in some short term "labor" I have a swack of painting to do that I'm not too keen on doing!! Lemme know. Peter

Deb and I are planning to hike the Rockwall Trail in Kootenay NP this summer and unfortunately have to scale things back a bit (i.e., not able to do the entire trail @ 56 kms ). So if anyone has hiked this trail, I would appreciate some insight... We only have 3 days/2 nights... What would you suggest?! Helmet Falls the 1st night and Tumbling the 2nd then out at Numa or do you think we can make it to Numa for the 2nd night (I'm sure that would be quite the grind though...)? Thanks, Peter

Nope! P

I think it will even get worse if they impliment the one can limit city wide... The people that have more garbage in a week (not sure the reasons why someone would have this amount of garbage, but it's possible) to fill their own can will undoubtedly start filling up their neighbors in the early hours if they charge a fee for extra bags!! The Never-ending Unlimited Cake Thread

Actually Chris, load that thing with some butter tarts (which are essentially mini pies [the equivalent of cupcake/mini cakes]) and fire away! P -

Dave, I guess it would depend on the water... For the Bow/Elk, etc. where there is nothing more then class II/III (if that) standard floor would be perfect (though need beaver boards or casting platform for sure)!! And yes the more gear/weight definitely effects tracking/holding etc. Good points! Cheers, P

Google "Star Rafts" some ok reviews, some not so good reviews (boats are made off shore)... I used to be a ww rafting guide for the university I attended in Idaho and your get what you pay for, that's for sure.. I wouldn't consider anything that wasn't a 12' - 14' self bailer!! Aire, Maravia, Hyside and on the (slightly) lower end NRS are all good rafts! Aire has a great deal on their 12' Tribs (on their specials page) $2000 (Tribs are their "off shore" version), plus about $500 for a fishing frame! Buying new you get a very good (5 year warrantee for the Trib, 10 year on the Aire - Aire makes all the Outcast boats). PVC has it's advantages (weight saving and slick & smooth), but so does Hypalon (very strong but heavy). The only complication is you would have to drive down to Idaho or have it sent up which make it a tad bit more expensive. If you are interested in a raft, I think Kimball Sports out of Cardston sell off their previous years boats (PM to Kip - Fishguide76 on the board). Or if you have any specifics for me I can try to help. Cheers Peter *Edit* I should answer your original question... A decent ww raft/fishing raft capacity should be 1000 - 1500 lbs 12' - 14' (or so) respectively depending on the quality.
