  1. http://www.bowrivershuttles.com/ Go to "Our River" for distances... P
  2. Also, keep your eyes open for FFC sponsors hosting demo and spey days (most likely not until late spring early summer)... P
  3. Trev, Your best bet for learning is to hire someone like Colin (Cdone) or Greg (Toolman) (or another spey guy that teaches - sorry those are the only ones I know of) next time you are in Calgary to go through the basics... I don't know about you but I learn much better in person then what I watch on a video or from a book... You can get a lot out of even an hour or 2 learning session!! Just my 2 cents. P
  4. Yeah that's the one on Kijiji... Looks like it's a fly/spin combo rod as it has 3 tips and one looks thicker then the other two, plus the butt section in the photo is set up for a spinning reel... P
  5. FNG and I were wading in the water (well I was )!!
  6. If those work for you (your size, etc.), make sure to buy two pairs as they look like they are being discontinued! P
  7. I would think that the neoprene waist band wouldn't work for him either. P
  8. Yeah I remember seeing something on Kijiji (were originally purchased for a Halloween costume). And as previously mentioned the other option is the ones with boots attached. If you are interested I have some rubber "hip" waders with boots attached (almost new cond) I'd give you a great deal on (size 11). Don Anderson also uses the waders you describe, so he might be able to provide some specifics... P
  9. LoL I won't tell you the worst of it!! P
  10. Thanks for the contact I'll call him for sure. Right now I have a line on a slightly hail damaged door (it was from an insurance claim) it would be in the ally so aesthetics aren't all that important. Installed for $800... But I'll get a few more quotes. Cheers, P
  11. So I have learned that the door is obsolete and VERY dangerous with the double springs & bushings wearing out (lots of shrapnel if they blow) so unfortunately it needs to be replaced... I guess a new door runs between $1200 - $1500 +... P
  12. Looking for someone in Calgary to (possibly) repair a garage door. Anyone on here do that sort of thing or have a contact. Older Stanley Door (late 60's early '70's) bushings are worn out. Would prefer to repair as opposed to replace if possible, but don't think parts are available unless someone knows where used parts can be found... Please PM with contact info. Thanks in advance, Peter
  13. Playing telephone tag with the contractor so at least he is returning phone calls... I'll chalk that up as a positive at this stage... P
  14. I would say it depends what you value... Convenience vs. quality. "Usually" if you buy cheap the hooks will bend out or unravel sooner rather then later, and if you tie your own you can definitely control the quality!! may cost you in the short term and save you in the long run!! P
  15. Thanks for the replies thus far... It's about 10" - 12" off one of the corners of one of the slabs, so I figure it wasn't prepped properly... As I mentioned, we'll call the contractor tomorrow and go from there... Cheers, P
  16. From what I was told/heard, they use the same specs, but are made "offshore"... P
  17. Gang, Back in October I made an inquiry regarding getting a new concrete driveway sealed... Well, it's only been about 3 - 4 months and I've already noticed a crack (more then just a surface crack - 6' long and at least 1' deep)... I would expect that a newly poured (and sealed) driveway would last much longer then 3 months (I presume that they prepped it properly). I'm not sure of any warrantee at this stage as the contractor originally mentioned (verbally) that he would guarantee it for a year, but that is not written anywhere... So does anyone have exp. or suggestions on what to do or how to go about looking into this at this stage (will call the contractor tomorrow - Monday)?! Am I wrong to expect that a driveway would not crack within this amount of time?! Thanks, Peter
  18. I think my B-I-L picked one of those up (or a similar model) at the Expo - South Bow had them at their booth for $60?! P
  19. Hey Rick, I Hope you are having/had a great day! P
  20. Paul, One thing I will also mention as this rod is for your wife, is that you should try to go with as light a rod as possible... Unfortunately that is usually synonymous with a higher price tag (unless you go pre-owned)... Just my opinion/preference... P
  21. I have 2 Redingtons an REALLY like them (although the cork on my 5 wt CPX is a little narrow for my liking). In my "opinion" they are great value... And from what I understand their higher end blanks are made with the same specs as their sister company Sage (but built off shore). I know when I bought my 7'6" 3 wt Classic Trout, Fishtales pretty much matched the US retail price within ~$20 (and even brought it in for me as they didn't carry that specific model)... P
  22. LoL! I thought the header read "nipples"!!
  23. Lots of good open water in and around Fish Creek Park. P
  24. Paul, What kind of PFD are you looking for? Are you looking for a self inflating one?! If so, don't go used!! There are many discontinued models on the used market that are discontinued for a reason... You & your wife's lives are worth buying new. They're not all that expensive ($100 - $250) - relatively speaking. I have the Mustang with hydrostatic valve ($250) http://www.mustangsurvival.com/products/pr...d=508&mc=27. It can be manually inflated or if it is submerged in 4" of water, but not if it is raining or gets splashed... There was a thread a few weeks ago regarding this exact topic and there are several on the market (CDN Tire carries another brand) Peter
