  1. Brad, I remember when I played Pee Wee (albeit not at the highest level) back in the '80s kids were still developing their (basic) skills and it was totally awkward so adding hitting to the mix was WAYYYYYY too much for them to comprehend when the basics were more then enough... Bantum is a much more appropriate level to intagrate hitting IMHO.
  2. The other point is at pee wee, the kids aren't equal as far as size! Some kids have started their growth spirt, others haven't yet... So they are not playing (hitting) on a level playing field (rink). Just my thoughts. P
  3. Don are you using a "strip set" (horizontal) or a trout set (vertical)? P
  4. Head down to the Oldman area as there are a lot of oprions to choose from all within an hour or so... Bring a decent Scotch if you are going to pop into "The Cutty Hut" down at Racehorse!
  5. Thanks Pete! (though Mike is in Spain presently - we did the family celebrations last weekend)! Happy Birthday to you, as well! I hope you have a good one also! Cheers! Peter P.S. Caught lots of pike on the weekend and will catch a few more with the gang on Sunday!
  6. Hard to tell... If we get any rain this week like we are supposed to, it could very well be blown out... Unfortunatley, we are on a hold pattern for the time being...
  7. Make sure to check the regs when you get your license as some sections are still closed. Run off is about to start (water is starting morph), so get out there while the getting is still good! The Bow is 95% public access (within the city limits)... Have fun!
  8. I guess that's the main disadvantage of not having any rule/regs/legislation regarding guiding in Alberta, as well as not having enough conservation officers to enforce the existing rules...
  9. And all the fly shops that run classes and guides that guide within FCPP! quote name="bcube" post="171351" timestamp="1368475613"] tell that to the guides within the oldman gap..
  10. My understanding is if you are running a business ( accepting $ for a service) within a PP you require a permit (whether teaching fly casting in Fish Creek Park or or renting out a camper in Dutch creek). Business permits 47 No person shall carry on a business in a provincial park or recreation area unless that person is the holder of a permit for that purpose or has entered into an agreement for that purpose with the Minister under section 10© of the Act. 11. So I was always told (and I’m under the impression) that a softer rod (read slow or med action) protects tippets better and is preferable for dry fly fishing… I can comprehend the logic behind this with the “shock absorbing” qualities of the softer rod… A buddy argues that a fast action rod (read stiffer) protects the tippet much better... For some reason, I can’t grasp the logic of this… Can someone explain to me (in the simplest way possible) of how this is possible? What am I missing?! Thanks, P
  12. We were out last night and I decided to toss a streamer as nymphing wasn't working for any of us and I only saw one rise the entire 4 hours... Anyway, I must have dropped my shoulder as I buried my streamer right into the back of my casting hand (middle knuckle)!! Funny thing was, I didn't feel a thing (going in or out)!! Hurts a little this morning however!! LoL P
  13. Ok I think I figured it out (or at least I hope so)! P
  14. Gang, For anyone that has a Water Skeeter pontoon, I have a question about adding a rod holder... The rod holder that came with my pontoon needs to be replaced. The current one has a cotter pin that secures it to the frame through a hole ( looks very similar to the outcast ones). I recently purchased a replacement (a Water Skeeter specific rod holder) that has a totally different configuration for mounting it to the frame (bolt and rubber stopper,if that makes sense). I'm not sure how to or if I can attach this to the frame of the model I have. Can any one be of assistance. It looks simple enough (I think), but not sure if I'm missing something as I wouldn't want to attach it incorrectly and lose a rod!! Peter
  15. Jesus Rick you need to start wrapping up in bubble wrap!!

  17. Is the parking area that is being restricted, condo property or city property? Not the launch but the gravel parking area?
  18. Technically you could consider WWS as well as they do have a FF section...
  19. The other issue is if they lock the vehicle in so the shuttle driver can't get out...
  20. "Outta my cold dead hands" Jay!! LoL
  21. I have a 486-3 and LOVE it! It's my goto dry fly rod for the Bow! Anyone else? P
  22. Poplar roots caused damage to my parents sewer main years ago - unfortunately they were their trees so it was an out of pocket expense!
  23. It depends on the situation? Is the tree dead? Interferring with powerlines, sewer lines, etc. Unfortunately, the city won't just remove a tree because you want them to... I would guess that you start by callilng 311...
