  1. I thought you ment one of these....... http://www.eastvalleytribune.com/images/ph...15/yv8az5yi.jpg
  2. I got my microwave 5 years ago (at the end of this month actually...) I paid $90 at London Drugs...whips out his Windows calculator....$18 a year and going strong...Should I pay a premium for Canadian made (is there any such thing?)...lets say North American made....(hummmmm...Those are gone too)...but...I could buy Asian....best from Japan and good but cheaper from Korea...up and coming from India and China... sure there will be a few, just enough as the market will bear, who will buy the best....the rest...well, if the K car and Chevette was North Americas answer to the fuel crisis of the 70's then.....gawd help us...
  3. OK...couple slight changes... Wage - $23.59 Costs - $39.32 Produce flys - 20 cost per - $.90 - (Can't see why it would cost more if expenses are covered as above) Retail cost - 2.70 Fly tyer earnings per hour $36.
  4. Good point Don. I always bought my salmon flys from Warren Duncan's shop in Saint John and can appreciate the work involved. On the other hand those people in Africa need income too. So do all the middle men between here and there. I spent, what I thought, was a pretty penny on flys this spring (thread around here somewhere). In the end they were lost, or otherwise destroyed at about the same speed as the $10/Doz. Sure the local guy has a place. Sure supporting local is good...but...the buck a fly is pretty attractive too. It gives that person in some 3rd world place a job too. S
  5. Whats that ticking noise....? Oh ya, it's the countdown clock for this thread blowing up.......9....8....7....6....
  6. My smallest rod is a 2/3wt...it's the most fun I've ever had with a fly rod (well top 3 anyway...) I have caught a few fish on Frenchmans that I coulda/shoulda used a heaver weight rod for but I don't think I over- fished any fish....for me the fun is in the take....all the rest is just gittin him in and gittin him off (insert joke here) as fast/safe (and sometimes pose for a picture) as possible. A zero weight rod might be too small for stuff I've seen here in AB. I would think a 1 or 2 would be as small as I would want to go (and then pick your streams). Anything less and its just you and the cork handle fighting the fish.
  7. I don't think thats it Wolfie. I believe it's just the anonymity (sp?) of the interweb. It gives a little power, same as the coppers and human resources people get. Which, while it may not be absolute, corrupts just the same.
  8. Very nice! I love Frenchmans!
  9. Also the population according to the 2001 Statistics Canada census was 678!
  10. What gives me the right to express my opinion is the Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Nice little document and fine reading. What gives you the right to try and censure me comrade?
  11. If we can sing the praises of one particular shop here in town why can't we lambaste the bad ones....I'm thinking the $#@^%#....that place sucks.
  12. Nice! I was wondering where I left that lure! Send me a PM where I can pick it up. It just SLAYS those Golden Trout...them ain't as good eatin as the Bulls though...less meat on em.
  13. I've never seen the show....but one of my Calgary 'Secret spots' is The Spicy Hut' on Ed Trail....thems good eats.....one of the first times I was there I asked the girl "how do you pronounce this?" while pointing at the menu, she said "Thats number 23".....still chuckle to this day....
  14. First of all it's a SPREAD of photon torpedoes...sheeesh... :Hi jack: Kirk = Best Captain Ever
  15. Full agreement here.... Pretty disturbed lately about the vigilantism here...who in the fork do we think we are? We got a few guys willing to drive to the cnpass to taunt a B&B owner??? Almost funny if it wasn't true. Posting names/addresses and phone numbers? Not funny at all.
  16. Nice...wake n bake. I'm not a friend of the random campers but I gotta say I'm doing it this weekend. First time. I found a place near a few streams where I love to be. Sure there are alot of permacampers and bikes/atvs, but I want my share too. I stayed in a camp ground this past weekend and it was a drag...miles from the fishing...11pm quite time (wtf...i just got back and ate...now i want to sing and drink!) and $8 for a few pieces of 2x4 for firewood....f dat. My major concern is taking care of my (personal) waste....googling that now.....
  17. A few might be able to name this area but I ain't tellin'. If you do find it you should remember to leave the light tippets at home.
  18. In the Summer I eat up the Sci-Fi and leave the fishing books for Winter.....some of my fave include... Starship Troopers Forever War Old Mans War Enders Game
