Things You've Learned This Year
Pythagoras replied to bloom's topic in General Chat - Fly Fishing Related
Just because 'Where the Buffalo Roam' and 'Fear and Loathing' were on tonight.... You can turn your back on a person, but never turn your back on a drug, especially when its waving a razor sharp hunting knife in your eye. There is nothing more helpless and irresponsible than a man in the depths of an ether binge. If you're going to be crazy, you have to get paid for it or else you're going to be locked up. I have a theory that the truth is never told during the nine-to-five hours. I feel the same way about disco as I do about herpes. Buy the ticket, take the ride. Call on God, but row away from the rocks. Hunter S. Thompson -

Thinking Of Voting Liberal?
Pythagoras replied to dryfly's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
Woha...there are a couple things amiss there...first, East does not mean or stop in Ontario, second, it's the Albertans that vote the same way consistently (and on mass). I don't know why they even run a Liberal out here...the Cons could run an incontinant monkey and win by a landslide. I'm not saying the green shift is a good thing but I question a party that breaks its own election laws to call the public to the polls and then runs a campaign for weeks without unveiling its policy. -

Pythagoras replied to LynnF's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
lol...here is another doctor joke..... A guy goes to visit his doctor and the doc says 'I have some good news and some bad news' The guy says 'gimmi the bad news'. Doc says...'you have about 6 months to live and there is nothing we can do about it'. The guy says 'thats horrible Doc, what is the good news?' and the Doc says...'well, did you see that hot nurse I have on reciption?...well I'm doing her!' -
I just post what he said...still, there is a huge difference between that old hen and the male...both in length and girth...no matter anyhoo... After 18 mins you are instructed to break the fish off...

Nope, single hander. The river at the lodge is quite small, distance isn't a problem...it might be...Highwood size...ish I spoke to him last week and he was still pretty stoked. Said she tailed walked in the sun for him.

My brother caught this a couple weeks back..... Secret river in NB....starts with an M... Quick measured at 44" and the guide estimated 30lbs+. The camp rule is not to fight a fish longer than 18 mins. Where they got 18 mins i don't know. With a little pleading he fought it for about 25 mins (guide said the water was cold and the fish did rest a bit)....on 8lb test! Fish was released strong.

I guess you should stop fishing completly HS....that + stop bringing in strangers for money to exploit our resourses, it damages the fish....your reply was unwarrented.

I was on Frenchmans Creek early August (first time there!) and watched a cuttie feeding in some riffles at the head of a larger pool....just a dimple in the waves...I listened to some advice from a friend (thanks Kai!) and tied on a green drake(ish) thing and floated it down the riffle. Well...SLAM...this fish took the fly and I set the hook....He was a larger fish for the creek I was fishing (better than 12"...possibly 14"?) and beat it hell bent for leather across the pool...my reel screaming and the fish almost 1/2 out of the water he ran the length of the pool...beautiful...controled (lol...not) long line release after that.....really, I sat, smoked and sighed....love this country.

He was IDed by two different people as the guy who just pulled a robbery....he ran and failed to drop a weapon when confronted by an officer of the law....whats the problem tazing his ass? I have read alot of opinions on a couple boards and I just don't understand the posters who say he shouldn't have been zapped. The cop is sombodys son too....should he try and take this 17yr old in a fair fight? Maybe pull out the baton instead and get himself knifed in the face? Fawk that! The tazer is a great tool to give cops range on those who are resisting arrest. It does a couple things real nice...first it puts a guy down for a few seconds so he can be controled and second...gives the perp the strong desire of never wanting to be hit with it again. If you think it's being overused your just not aware of how much it was needed.
