TheBrownWhisperer
How common are bull trout in the Bow? Only asking as I believe I caught one yesterday in the city section. Unfortunately, it wasn't a monster- only 14 inches...
BurningChrome
They aren't common but there are some around.
Dangus
Could have also been a laker if you're unsure of your id skills
troutlover
There are some resident ones below police that i see every year floating by. I haven't seen them this year but they are big ones.
danhunt
I've never seen one, but I wouldn't doubt they are there. I remember reading a paper a while ago where a bully was captured and tagged in the Castle one year and then caught again in the upper Oldman the following year. I don't know what motivates them to do so, but they can apparently travel quite a distance within a drainage if they so choose.
TheBrownWhisperer
Could have also been a laker if you're unsure of your id skills At first I thought it may have been a Brookie as the colouring was wrong for a laker. Just checked online and we have a winner: http://www.albertafishingguide.com/fish/bull-trout

Yeah they do same thing on the kootenay river drainage.
AquaBoy
I pulled out a 20" Bull around Carseland in 2015 fall. Definitely a bit of a shock.
trailhead
Yeah they are there for sure I caught one about 14 too. In Fish Creek Park.
toolman
I've also caught a few as well. All 8"-12" and always on the dry fly, including one I caught last week.
monger
Seen a few over the years. Most were within a few miles of the Highwood
rgoard
There have been some very large Bulls caught on the Bow over the years. Very large.
FraserN
They are extremely rare. I have caught 2 in my whole life on the bow. The one I got last year in Edworthy Park went 23 inches, and fought longer and stronger than any Brown I ever caught. Very memorable experience, especially since it will likely never happen again for me on the Bow.
rgoard
I am in full agreement with you Bowflyman - I have only landed one and have been dreaming about landing another ever since!
Villageidiot
Well considering the sheep (eventually) and highwood both flow into the bow and everyone pounds the piss out of those for bulls its no wonder theres some. Surprised that no one really tries to target them at the highwood confluence in early spring. Best chance to intercept fish over wintering before moving up for the late spring/summer. I would reckon there's more of them than most of you think.

Weedy1
Didn't Super Dave Sanjuanworm catch a 37" Bull right in downtown Calgary on his lunch break somewhere around 2007? I wonder if he still has the picture he posted on FFC?
eagleflyfisher
I got a real good one about 6 years ago below police , maybe 7-8 lbs . Super fat and ate a purple chronie. A nice guy came from across river in my bros old boat and took a pic for me. Super happy with that one, a real surprise for me.

rgoard
So with the Bow River water temperatures getting pretty high, and yet another hot day today, I thought it would be good karma to post a photo from much colder waters some time ago. My only Bull Trout landed on the Bow.
