Brudis Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 I just got back from my trip to new zealand. It was a tough trip numbers wise with the fish mostly handing my ass to me but this one helped ease the pain. Quote
hopdrop Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 this one helped ease the pain. No *hit. What did he eat? Quote
reevesr1 Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 A fish that size eases pain better than codeine! Quote
Hawgstoppah Posted January 18, 2013 Posted January 18, 2013 No *hit. What did he eat? his leg.... Geez nice fish! Suprised no one's complained about the pic on the grass or anything, the old boys club here must be going soft on yah. Maybe it's in the water though, hard to tell in the shot. Quote
Brudis Posted January 18, 2013 Author Posted January 18, 2013 It was in the water a bit but it didnt matter.Unfortunatlly he took the fly (#6 woolly bugger) deep and bled out.It sucks that I killed the biggest brown i've ever caught. In the picture you can see that his eye isn't looking down like fish that are alive.I gave it to a nice couple who owned a hotel I was staying at when I was waiting for my lost luggage.I caught him at about 4a.m. it was 29 inches and 11 lbs. Hawgstoppah Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 aww that is certainly unfortunate. Fish of a lifetime though! 4 in the morning!! awesome jedi fishing! Quote
Swede Posted January 19, 2013 Posted January 19, 2013 As soon as a seen that picture I thought that fish is dead, but it wasn't the eyes. The color of the fish is off. I know for a fact that the eyes thing is total myth. I've got lots of shots of Alberta browns some are looking down some aren't. All of them are alive and none of them where over fatigued. Anyways awesome fish bro, unfortunate indeed. Quote
FraserN Posted January 29, 2013 Posted January 29, 2013 Great catch. I have caught a brown that large on spin gear, but never on the fly. It was undoubtedly an older fish, and had a full lifespaan, so I have no qualms about the harvest. Quote
