Which Is Your Favorite Rod Maker?
mcleod52 replied to NormanMcLean's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
I now live just across the water from Bainbridge Island and can confirm the $40 for a Sage repair. Only difference is, I can call ahead, take a ferry over and be hooked up right away - i.e walk away with my broken tip section. :-) I'd also recommend the tour of the facility if you're ever in the area. Did that for my birthday this year and it was excellent. Receptionist even sang happy birthday to me over the factory intercom. -
Nice work, great way to capture things for you and your buds.

Winston Fly Rod Company Warranty
mcleod52 replied to bigfry's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
Don't poo-poo Sage's warranty. I can take a ferry over and get a rod fixed the same day. Try that with Winston. -
I have a pair of the green MJ's and a pair of the amber MJ's. The amber glasses are my goto lenses and I use them 80% of the time. The green I tend to throw on during very bright days where they seem to help with contrast a bit better.

Look at a used Winston BIIx. I grabbed a used one a couple years back and it is my go-to 5wt. Great action with a great back bone to launch flies for the big casts.

I'd second the Redington 2/3. I have one I use with my Redington CT2. Stew

THanks for sharing, looked like fun

I do the google spreadsheet too. One tab for each year. I record: flow, water temp, air temp, date, time, fish count and a comments area for random thoughts. Only been doing it 9 years, but the flow information probably helps me out the most. Stew

Curious About Ffc Members
mcleod52 replied to murray's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
I started fishing the Bow and Elbow as a kid back in the 70's. but just chucked gear back then. Did not start fly fishing until the early 90's. Moved out of the area in 96 but try and manage to get back once or twice a year since. Since my move, most of my fishing is down here in Washington State. I chuck gear at salmon but spend most of my fishing in the streams around here for trout. -
Agree with jtaylor above. Often a little chat clears things up - one way or the other.

Lovely indeed

Best keep you in the back of the boat ... just saying :-)

Redington CT 9054 would be a nice 4 piece 5 wt. The 6wt is the 9064 ... Cabelas has these on sale for $85 right now. Not certain if there is a Canadian counterpart to Cabelas.com .. but worth checking out. Stew

Some nice starter gear is the Redington CT series of rods. Typically around a $100 online. This would then leave your dollars for a reel (Redington, Pfleuger, Ovis and such) and line. My thoughts. Stew

Heads Up - Sketchy Man By The Dog Pound

Glad you managed to get out of there. I'd of been on 911 in a hurry. Down here in the US lots of folks pack revolvers just for this reason. Some of the remote areas here are frequented by tweekers making their brew. Stew -
