maxwell replied to jimbow's topic in General Chat - Not Fishing Related (NFR)
roflmao!! that is a bizarre day brndwg.. hope no 1 has too go through that kinda day again! -
i doubt it.. the dubbing holds well if u use fine wire for th dubbing loop(bin doing it on my intruders) and if u wrap it tight enough on the pin it should almost have no gap inbetwen! worth a shot i suppose!
-
sweet dude that isnt the fly i imagined while talking too you on the phone! i gotta show u the string leech i have ! totally different.. another way too tye that would be too use the pin in a tubefly kit! then slide th sucker off!!! will shoot u a text tomorow.. see if we can hook up for a **** chat!!!! i think i got that pattern licked! in my brain anyway!

Help With Streamer Rod Selection
maxwell replied to dkbnmn's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
go cast em all dude and see what works best for you! check out the opti series aswell if your looking for a higher end rod but i love my multis for guiding! the rest of the rods youve listed are excellent aswell! like other have mentioned find one u like the best!!!! casting wise! -
i here ya jack but u dont need too tire a fish too exhaustion too tail a fish without a glove .. i find its easiest too tail a fish with just your thumb and index finger.. using your full hand makes it harder for you and easier for a fish too slip away!
-
that was a fun day on the water!!!!!! gotta love calgary! snow rain wind sunshine and calmness all in the same day!!!!!!! should be a great second half of the month! will have a bow reports tommorow for yall! thanks for posting bhurt!!!!! and good on ya gimpy for coming along for the ride!!!!! get that ankle nice n strong for the winter!!!!
-
i like the split ring idea aswell! converting all my stuff too tubes tho this winter, i like using bite wire or the berkley coated wire for my shanks! i figure! all streamer patterns are good bets! keep in mind with larger stremers u close the window on what size of fish u wil catch (bigones) but if u want more action smaller 1inch flies iwll work too and u will get more grabs from little pickles!
-
8wt atleast like others mentioned a 9wt is even better for longer flies and distanc.e. i fisnd shorter rods better for more hook setting power!
-
u betcha dude! intruderish style buly flies!..and thanks all for the comments!!!!!
-
that is it dude! higher air temps means higher water temps.. higher metabolism.. oxygen level could also effect there habits but for the most part it goes hand in hand with air and water temps.. higher water temps lowerdisolved oxygen so fish move into faster water(also easier for em too feed with higher metabolism) same with colder water higher dissolved oxygen but they have lower metabolism.... baroetric pressure might affect feeding habits btu im not sure if it affects metabolism...

amen brian! for al fish for that matter.. i dont thing tailing gloves are needed for nay fish! it does damage and as c&r anglers we should take the precaution and care too handle all fish as minimal as possible! we all learn by our mistakes! me included!
-
catch mag has bin amazing! bin digin al 7 issues so far!!!!!!!! unreal photos!

drew nailed it! best and simplest way too have a streamer rig on your rod! the rio tips i find are the best! get one too match your line weights.. eg.. 6wt line 6wt tip! type 6 if prettymuch perfect for what you want!

Shortening A Head / Splicing Line
maxwell replied to chiasson's topic in General Chat - Fishing Related
i use shrink tube and a lighter.. make sure not too overheat.. best too flicker the lighter through the place you intend too splice rather than apply direct heat.. take your time.. heat slowly so you dont burn the inner core! dip in cold water too cool quicker if you wish too unpeal the shrink and check for any missed spots.. if so add some mo shrink tube n touch it up! some people use a heat gun dealio!only way ive tride too plce is too make 2 welded loops then loop em together n weld them together.. if i figured it was a little too thin i used some line shaving from a scrap piece... -
check out the taper dude! pretty cool! i will be checking em out forsure!!!
