  1. if its a 8wt i cant see it needing too be loaded up that much.... but that is just me..... some may say she likes to be loaded heavy but only if that is what u like!!!! go too fishtales (they have the skagit kit) take it out for a hour or two and toss all ines from teh 540-600 grain range(5 lines or so) find the 3 u like the best then find teh 2 that feel the best then pick the 1 that feels the best!!! rig it up with a sinktip and fly u tend too toss.... its the best way ive foudn too line any of my rods!
  2. only thing i do different with a double hander is toss farther and wade less.. rig stays the same.. dont use a floating tip/poly leader...not needed.. bin there done that wasted money... my 6 and 7 wt speys have ibn my go too winter rods the last few winters! . cast up toss in teh mend.. stay on top of the slack/mends during teh drift.. hammer it with less effort at 60 feet than with my 9footer and
  3. is the yellowline the 8124 or 9130? they could have similar grain windows too you 9126 but if it feels light too you compared too the other two rods u might want too go heavier..... it can be mre of a prefrence hting if ou like it in te top half or bottom half of te grain window..... i like em light but others want them heavier too slow te rod down a bit! if u can get ahold of a line size heavier give it a try and see what happens!
  4. everyone nailed it in posts above! skagits are the way too go too toss bigger streamers! i like my scandi lines for nymphin! most of the nymphing in short is done with a single hander but when fishing past 40 feet i find i can mend easier and get better leverage on hooksets way out!, less fatigue also when casting, hooksetting and mending over a long day! double handers can be key too for the offseason(october-may) when the fish love too hold in mid river buckets trenches and seams farther out! rather than standing in the water! but a skagit line will fish nymphs just as easy! when mending keep in mind single or double handed the mre line oyu have otu the higher your rod must bee off the water too move the line! tightlines!
  5. dope dude! thanks for posting!

  11. i use my 8wt for streamers on teh bow, bulltrout, pike things like that! 8wts can be a good tool in alberta for pushing larger flies with les effort! 7wts arnt bad either.. but a 8 will do ya god bor bones (from what ive bin told) plus the fish ive listed above and some salmon species on teh coast too!!!!
  12. lmao i was told that sam joke a week or so back by a client of mine! classic!
  13. lmao! good on ya! kill all dumb tank raised fish!
  14. i useto get it back when i started my 200+ day tears but i found i jsut switched my casting style a bit (more shoulder and torse) make more single handed spey casts and fish double handed rods aswell (well roudned in all situations not the same olf sluggin day in day out cuz she wears ya down!) too even out the strain on my body! a tensor might help but u might just want too tweak your style a bit! im not saying go out buy a bunch of new gear just peep some vids check out some different styles of casts (shoot more line!! less false casts!!!!) and you should be laughin!

  19. u got a pic of the fly neil?
  20. ahh smitty come on dude fishing for pre spawn fish and spawning fish is two completely different things.. one can feed a little harder and recover the other wont... nice try tho...
  21. spawning is going on right now.. they just started digding redds full force the last week or so.. stay out of all of the waste deep chop and tail outs. stresing fish while spawning wil make it harder for them too recover after they spawn... imho.... tons of fat bows out there right now! some even still eating on top... why bother with fish making more fish! just not right!
