  1. I'll add a third with Don if you want to buy one but I think your original question was you want to build one. I would check out Tandy leather for supplies, they may even have patterns or can order you one. Must be a special rod to deserve a leather case.
  2. Great stuff Max!!
  3. Usually in the spring there are a few instructors that do Spey casting sessions that you can join.
  4. Wonderful pictures and times. thanks for posting.
  5. Wonderful thanks for posting.
  6. You'd be cooking.
  7. The mono lines will certainly cast well and get you great distance. Used them for a bit a couple of years ago but I hated the coiling in cold weather and the general feel. I've used slick shooters on my reels now for three years and its my fav.
  8. a really nice vice, my bro in law has it and I did like tying on it.
  9. Sorry, I misread your original statement, I thought you could get a Law for $450 not that much more than you wanted to spend. Saw one go ion ebay for $1,350 a couple of months ago. Nor-Vise isn't for everyone, it seems you either lover it or hate it. Are you looking to pick up a full rotary? Or a stationary vice?
  10. Grab the Law for that, resell it and get something nice in a vice for the profit.
  11. Then you'll be relieved to know that the LAW vise is no longer made. Lots of good vices our there, and not all vices fit all people, try before you buy. There are a couple of vices for sale on the site here that are a good deal.
  12. I've have had one or two
  13. The St Aidan wasn't one of Hardy's high end reels, it had a lighter frame, not as heavy as the Marquis line (which I like much better). As for salmon/steelhead, it wouldn't be my first choice. The value would depend on size, year and condition. I would need pictures to tell you a value.
  14. My concerns are sent
  15. Looks like someone pulled the you"Tube movie, hope someone saved it. Would have liked to see it. Nothing like a few letters going out,
  16. that is a good idea.
  17. there's a couple of articles on my blog about beginning to tie.
  18. Yes I had my Busnells up and glassing when the bullet hit. The bullet came in at a side angle spreying the bits away from my face but catching the last few fingers and palm of my left hand with glass. My brother was with me just coming up the ridge and saw it unfold, he called 911. Said that based on the explosion around my head he though I was hit for sure. To be honest I wasn't spooked just pissed at what could have happened to me. It did end up in court and there was a private settlement that I can't get into. I was glad my bro was there and shall we say "detained" the pair. Spend a lot of time in the bush and you run into some strange stuff.
  19. I count myself very lucky for not loosing my eyesight or worst. I have developed arthritis in a couple of fingers of my left hand where the scarring was from flying metal and glass.
  20. Thanks Don it made my day.
  21. This is all of course not taking into account that about 8% of all males have some sort of color deficiency (much smaller percentage in females). Good friend of mine can't pick a strawberry or cherry without a lot of scrutiny based on shape.
  22. For a quick shiny shell back try a piece of black garbage bag.
  23. Let me tell you about the last time I was out hunting, it was 6 years ago in the porcupine hills. I was bow hunting and glassing a ridge with my Bushnells. I was wearing a blaze orange hat and fluorescent orange camo (I normally change to full camo in the tree stand). The glasses where shot out of my hands disintegrating. I just stood there in disbelief frozen, when another high caliber round Hit the tree behind me. I hit the ground face first. Two young guys walked up the ridge to me and I pulled my knife. They looked at me like I was from outer space hands bleeding and said "where is our deer". I won't go into the details but there was compensation involved. I have hunted all my life, this was the first time I had worn blaze orange for big game except for shooting ducks and upland birds. It was a present form my wife to keep me safe... I have always worn camo or hunters green and have on a great many occasions had other hunters walk by me and under my tree stand without seeing or being aware of me. I believe wearing orange will help Id you for other hunters but not from stupid fools.
