Those bring back some memories, have a couple somewhere, they where actually nice to tie with at the time, as they had nice reach, the hassle was filling the spool and getting it adjusted. A lot of us used a sewing machine to fill the spools. I really liked the long slot to thread it quick. Bobbins sure have come a long way.

Just tying up some Humpy's for myself. Yellow always seems to be my working color. Although last year I did some with a hot pink egg sack that worked nice.

What about us weight forward, age challenged dudes. I can’t think of a better way of plunging deep into the Bow and doing research on the bottom than one of those boards. Sorry I can't even picture myself on one of those 2 X 4's. Definitely for the young crowd.

Just a tip, yes it will wear down cheap fly rod guides with a lot of casting, but like all lines this one picks up much more grit and surface matter. Clean your fly lines regulary and you're gold.

Fishing licenses are now available for purchase, visit your local fly shop or retailer and pick one up Before April 1. Don’t forget to grab a sports fishing regulation and read it, does you no good sitting in a drawer. Just a tip I usually keep my license (those silly receipts) in a small Zip lock bag to keep the moisture out. And remember it’s not legal till you sign it and also don’t laminate it as it will be damaged and made void. You can also purchase them online and print them out yourself (good way to get multiple copies) Be careful out there and be sure you have the RAP (report a poacher) phone number on speed dial. There is a white foam packing material that I actually like better; I've found it occasionally in packing material that electronics come in. its more open cell than the colored sheet foam at Michaels. Looking for more myself for some of those boxes I've bought. Seems to take an awful lot of hooks without dulling.

If you are new to tying you might want to start with something straight forward like buggers. Some beads for the head, Chenille and saddle hackle for the body and Marabou for the tail will get you started. There are lots of patterns out there with lots of different materials. In addition some pheasant tail tinsel and a variety of dubbing is a good start. A visit to a reputable fly shot (not a box store) will get you started. Its a bit of a loaded queston as there are a lot of different patterns out there.

Oh Don you break my heart, please say it isn't so!!!! No Bamboo? TFO would be a good bet for that price point. Piking on the fly can be fun.
