  1. It should be fine.Ive stored my furniture in a similar situation,as well as many hunting and fishing camps I've both visited and owned that are normally never heated in winter and no worse for wear, year after year.My only concern would be mice getting into upholstered furniture, mattresses etc? Make sure it's mouse proof tight door, and wouldn't hurt to leave some poison just in case.If you can slide your pinky under a door, mice can get in.
  2. It's a pretty common rule on many outdoor forums to prevent spammers, scammers and others that don't contribute from just using the classifieds. Sooooo...tell us a story, post a fishing report, pics of flies you tie, comment on others,10 posts don't take long.
  3. I can attest to the fact that shipping is outrageous from Canada.I recently shipped a rod down to Oregon that cost me right around $50+ iirc(?) ,and the return shipping from Beulah was a flat $30. Hell, sent a reel to NS and another to NB and it was $20 each!!Then I flew to NB in July and AC only charged me 30 bucks extra baggage for entire hockey bag fulla fishn gear!! Canada Post sucks, and UPS quotes were double that again!!
  4. This^^Cell boosters are well worth the $$($150ish?) if you work or otherwise spend a significant amount of time in the boonies.....only downside is I can no longer tell the wife "I had no reception" as an excuse, haha.
  5. Not on purpose....but once upon a time, many years ago, after missing over a dozen eager brookies in as many casts,I checked my fly to find it had been broken at the bend the entire time/snapped a back cast off the rocks,DOH!!
  6. Remember when you could go hunting/fishing all day and leave your keys in the ignition, worse case scenario somebody had an emergency and needed to borrow your truck right away.
  7. New Simms convertibles in June is the reason I now have 2 spares.
  8. Check local pawn shops, starting with the one closest to home...crackhead thieves don't have much use for fly gear, and kids don't have wheels to move stolen goods very far. ....also if you need chest waders,I have 2 spare sets, one for free, the other very cheap.
  9. Thermacell works well if you are stationary, although I must admit I haven't really tried mine in the wind or walk/wading. .....but I can say it is very effective against black flies in a spring black bear tree stand, and keeps skeeters out of my truck cab w/open windows at night in the sleeper. I generally use either Muskol or DW Off for fishing.....30% DEET,and avoid getting it on the palms/fly line. Screen mesh Bug jackets are great, only downside I've found is it reduces effectiveness of polarized glasses if you are sight fishing.....that and it's a wee bit difficult to smoke and drink thru a screen, haha.
  10. Good luck JB,I've been deer hunting 412 pretty hard last 2 seasons (15-20days/year?) and stumble into moose quite often in the area that I haunt....probly 1 moose/day on average....pretty decent odds considering I'm not even hunting them,so I'd be stoked for calling during the rut, should be a great hunt.Haven't seen any real monsters but a couple decent 50ish bulls....but again, not calling or moose hunting so.....??
  11. Cool for sure, and sharp eye!!
  12. I was thinking more like a nice rug.
  13. 1)Airflo Super-Dri Distance Pro 2)Airflo Super-Dri Mend 3)Airflo Ridge Clear floating 4)Airflo Ridge Clear Intermediate(1.5ips) 5)Airflo Sixth Sense Sinking(5ips) Go with the Flo.
  14. Desperation, hmmmmm??? 12 hrs on the river yesterday, caught a small sunburn and a big buzz. Swung Streamers, zuddlers,BRBs,with soft hackle wet trailers, more SHWs 2 &3 at a time, sparkle emergers....ended the evening with caddis dries. A few risers throughout the day,a few more in the eve, big brown drakes from 10;00am thru mid day, small black stones,a few caddis.Had ONE bloody tug ALL Day on a zuddlers/soft hackle combo...grrrrrrrr. Pretty sure the river lowered a few inches by day's end,a bit better clarity also. So that's my excuse, poor vis, fish can't eat flies that they can't see. Change of tactics today, gonna dig out lucky hat,buy a pink shirt at Value Village and giver'!! Maybe throw some more money at them also,as if thousands of $$ worth of gear, flies and unpaid leave from work isn't enough.....sigghhhhh .....almost desperate enough to dangle nymphs under a bobber..... :puke: ......almost...
  15. Wow,helluva nice fish!!
  16. A good buddy of mine was mauled a bit and roughed up by a black....luckily he escaped virtually without a scratch, and a healthy respect for the power of even a small bear.Suffice to say that I don't care how big you are,or how tough you think you are,a 200lb bear is 5x tougher and stronger.
  17. Latka....oh,ok then, that explains the gibberish.I figgered it was either some sort of language barrier or somebody hitn the meth pipe too hard before posting?
  18. Do you drive an old white pickup by chance?
  19. Nice tie,kind of a mini-truder variation,looks fishy.
  20. Lol...not quite 15'....but the sled trail network in that area is excellent from Dec-Apr.
  21. Kinda like a smoke alarm....Better to have it and not need it,then to need it and not have it.
  22. Haha,to each their own I spose? You can't stand it....personally speaking, the sound of a screaming Hardy with a leaping Atlantic on a hellbent run is "THE" soundtrack of flyfishing!....music to my ears.
  23. While that may be true, there really isn't a reel on that list that piques my interest, with the possible exception being the Islander? And that's only because 1)The LX 3.8 was on my wish list for a long time, and 2) It's CDN.Even so,I'd take a Marquis Salmon#1 over any one of them......drag is way overated. re:bcube's comments....I'd say case design is in fact a legit category, and tend to agree with their findings in that I really like the practicality of my Abel's case...the wrap around reel seat design is very handy. Fun to fish....of course a reel must be fun to fish, why else are we out there if not for fun? It's not like anybody on this forum is starving and fishing for food.
  24. I like both Marlin and Chiappa, the latter packs more conveniently for fishing.
