  1. Looks like my original post was deleted.. Sorry mods, didn't want to make it look like an ad. I just wanted to post a nice tying desk I saw. I wanted to share a picture of a really nice oak desk that would be perfect for tying. It's not mine, wish I could afford it See the picture below

  8. Hey tiers, I had this fly in my box, not sure how I got it, or how long it has been in there for. It is about a size 26 and was one of the only flies that produced for me this weekend. Can anyone ID this fly pattern? Is it a small Klinkhammer? Any tips for tying a fly this small? Thanks!

  14. As a guy who hasn't been in the sport very long, I remember well the growing pains of learning all the intricacies of fly fishing. One HUGE help was the "Orvis Fly Fishing Guide Podcast" (from the iTunes store, or DL the Podcast republic app on Android, stream on blackberry). There are hours of information for beginners to experts on fly fishing. Tom Rosenbauer will give you all the info you need to know to become a better fly fisherman and catch fish. Also, grab the book above, or Barry Mitchell's Alberta's Trout Highway ($35 at any local fly shop) and find a small trout stream where they are eager to take a dry. You'll learn lots just by hooking into some small trout . Read lots about good catch and release practice as well; if you are learning then the first thing you should know is how to reduce mortality rate in C&R fishing, especially for small trout! For me the bow was a tough river to learn on. I caught a whitefish on my first fly fishing excursion, then got skunked and untied knots on the bow for about 6 months afterward. It took me two years to catch a bow river trout on the dry, and I'm still waiting for a bow river streamer trout. Good Luck!
  15. Have a listen to these two podcasts. 3rd and 4th from the top of this page: http://www.orvis.com/s/fly-fishing-guide-podcasts-podcast-library-orvis/6435
  16. My god, listed my house for sale last week. Didn't even think about fishing.. Are you still in town??
  17. As most of us, I have an abundance of fly boxes, but none of them work very well for my dry flies. They either flatten the bottom hackle on my dries, or flatten the posts on my larger dries/hoppers. What do you guys use for dry flies to preserve 360° of the hackle with enough space for the flies with a taller profile?
  18. Cool, did you notice how much that guy grew in 8 months?
  19. I want to like this post.... but fly fusion won't fix my account so I can 'like' posts.
  20. Haha, you're not going to want me to tag along.. the bow has not been friendly to me for 13 months...
  21. I'm glad you posted this because I'm also looking at getting some sort of sinking line for lakes. Any recommendations if I had to go with one type of sinking/intermediate/sink tip line?
