  1. Being a MB boy, I grew up using the same high test deet that lots of you guys use(d). I thought that I would revive this thread that i found through the search given that I was eaten alive last night, deet destroys your gear, and my pregnant wife doesn't want to use deet, I've heard a few people say that bounce sheets are effective mosquito repellent.. Has anyone ever tried bounce sheets?
  2. Saw this on Orvis' twitter.. Video: Incredible Footage of the First Marlin Ever Landed on a Fly Rod
  3. Some nice chunky fish there!
  4. After visiting the Island, Seattle (specifically the ballard district) and Halifax this year, I'm finally admitting that Calgary just doesn't cut it for beer. I'm very much into craft beer, and have to agree that most tap selections in Calgary fall short for micro brews. The places that do have great draught charge nearly what a 6-pack would cost for a pint, and people pay it!! Here's my list for best in Calgary in order of my fav's to least 1. Wild Rose (great tap room too!) 2. Brew Brothers in District (hit and miss on the food) 3. Village 4. Brewsters 5. Big Rock I would say my favourite place for a craft brew at a decent price is the Hop & Brew on 12th. Great pizza too!
  5. Oh cool, yeah that area is beautiful.. Def need to head back for some salmon runs
  6. Thought I would start up a new "Fishless Pics" thread for the 2013 season starting with my trip out to Vancouver Island Fished the Little Qualicum and Englishman estuaries for sea-run cutties and maybe some early pinks and coho. Ended up just working on my cast Stopped in at Little Qualicum falls Beach gear
  7. I also have the TS3, bought it on sale after the TS4 came out and I really love it. When I'm not around dirt and sand I shoot with professional gear, and I'm happy that they introduced the manual setting in the TS4 so you can expose pictures how you want. The Leica lens is not bad, but it's also only 5x zoom, and can get scratched as it's always exposed. I love the GPS on these cameras, if you load them into a program that enables geo-tagging you can see where you caught each of your fish. The HD video is good too, I find it works well for underwater release vids. As with any underwater camera, just make sure the seal for the memory card and battery docks are free of debris and are well maintained. I had an olympus underwater camera before this one and the seal degraded and let water in, which killed the camera. It also had a retractable lens cover that stopped working once it got dirt in it, so watch out for that. I don't usually touch up photos afterwards, so here's some examples straight through the lens.
  8. I just flew out of Calgary to Victoria and we flew over the bow from about harvie passage to just N of Crowchild and the elbow around downtown and then west of calgary too. 10. Nice work on the golden trout episode of Fly Nation!
  11. I had a great idea for parenthood while fishing.. Sadly I don't think my wife will let me do it.
  12. I love my Frabill clear rubber net too. It's 15" long and really deep. Makes handling fish very easy! I had to repair the rope that attaches the net to the wood frame once when my net got caught on a tree, but otherwise it's been very durable.
